We started building a good project. I couldn't see most of our matches back then. I had a book where I wrote all our match scorelines and who scored for us. I remember being mocked by my classmates for supporting a "weak" team. They used to call me Portsmouth 😅 Then 2008 we won the FA cup. I was in SS2, I finally got some respect 😎 Great memories. It brings tears to my eyes now. It's really sad we had to go down that way.
I cannot see why it shouldn't be in any era. It wasn't a strong challenge, he had no interest in the ball, only Ronaldo. It is football because you play balls, not people. I do however find it ridiculous that penalties are given when a player takes the ball away from the GK and wins a penalty because if you look closely enough the final touch was more about just getting something on it and then drawing contact than any effort to maintain the possibility of goal.
The footballing gods were smiling on pompey that day. Watching the final on Southsea common with 100k of the blue army was the most insane day any football fan could hope for. PLAY UP POMPEY!
As a Pompey Fan that went to that game we definitely had a charmed life against a extremely strong United side , though my best game I went to was either AC Milan or reading both at Fratton park and the reading game was because it still holds the record 7-4 most goals in a premier League game (11) definitely got my money's worth that day 🙏🏼👍🏼

This was the weirdest game in the world. As a Pompey fan, I'm still amazed with the team we had then. You then look at the Man Utd team in awe. Clearly we didn't deserve to win on the day, but strange things happen in matches. What was really odd for me was being stuck in a car, with my mother in law, listening to the match live on the radio, sat outside the registry office for my sister in law's wedding! I was told by my mother in law, we're not leaving this car until the match is over!!! We were a good 10 minutes late for the start! What a day. Will never forget it.
What a time to be a Pompey fan, we used to dither in div 1, narrowly avoiding relegation in the 90s bar a cup run in 92 and then Arry came, brought Paul Merson and the next 10-20 years were/have been like a movie, complete with the fall and rise with 80,000 at Wembley last March and we was there again before this pandemic 🤗
Fair play to Pompey, they were just destined to win the cup that year despite getting relegated which made for a great story. As a Pompey supporter I cried tears of joy at the final whistle. Was a very stressful win. Booked my flight from Australia when we beat West Brom in the semi and was at Wembley to see us win our second FA Cup in the clubs history. I also got to meet many of our players at training before the final which was organised by a close friend of mine (Sol Campbell, David James, Niko Kranjcar and my favourite player Hermann Hreidarsson). Was a great time for me especially going back to the Isle of Wight where I’m originally from and meeting my Grandparents who I hadn’t seen in years. But yeah, great result and great times for me personally

Pompey didnt get relegated that year, They were relegated 2 years later in 2010 when they got to the FA Cup final again but lost 1-0 to Chelsea.
