Thank you Mr. Macintosh again for your dedication to keep releasing easy to follow OCLP - install/update/upgrade/bug fixes/security update - video's. Without I would have already been going down into the abyss. Looking forward to your OCLP v1.2.0 release video.Appreciated. Cheers
Thank you Mr Macintosh and the dev team for the quick fixes and improvements. Hats off for all the work and dedication !
Just upgraded to 14.1.1 using OCLP 1.2.0 on my 2011 MBP 13" 8,1 without a hitch.
Fixes around Photos app and loginwindow crashes are more than welcome (2 or 3 crashes /day).
Hello,
Thank you for a superb site helping old Mac owners.
I have successfully used OCLP and your site to upgrade from Catalina, the last automatic update for my old machine. The latest warning from you was don’t upgrade to Sonoma 14.1. So I didn’t. But did try the latest 14.1.1.
Firstly downloaded oclp 1.2, then Sonoma 14.1.1. On final reboot….a grey screen, and no amount of key stressing worked.
Unplug the machine to hopefully discharge any capacitors. Did this for just over 1 minute and the machine started straight away. Re-installed the video drivers via oclp and all good.
So, again, thanks for all your help
So fast, so honest, so delighted. Thanks, you guys are great!❤
My macbook pro's 15 2015 battery was draining fast while in sleep mode in sonoma. I am back to monterey again and everything works just as it should.
MacBookAir 6,2 and MacBookPro10,1 both running OCLP 1.2.0 have been successfully updated to macOS Sonoma 14.1.1
The only issue - OCLP 1.2.0 did not automatically prompted to update OCLP drivers once Sonoma 14.1.1 came up. I had to manually start OCLP, patch up, reboot and voila - All is well!
Much appreciate Mr. Macintosh ongoing updates!!!!
Pleasantly surprised M3 is supported on Ventura. Will update to the latest Ventura when my M3 comes to give Sonoma a little more time in the oven.
thank you for being on top things and keeping us updated. I just fixed my MacBook Air 2015 with the KDK fix. I think I'll be staying on 14.1 for now. everything is working so I'll just leave well alone.
but as I'm watching this I'm seeing you talk about 1.2.0 update I think I am going to update. will report back.
EDIT: im gonna listen to your advice @ 10:50 and just hold off. THANK YOU for all you and the devs do for us
I did update my macbook pro mid 2012 and iMac late 2015 with no problem.
Thank you Mr Macintosh👍
The temptation is to go for the new at first release but after not good experiences with Sonoma/OCLP I shall hold off until fully sorted or Mr Mac does the way back to Ventura video -pleeeeease 😃
Hi Mr. Macintosh, and a new subscriber and new to Mac computer world, coming from Windows. Does the Mac Studio need an anti virus software such as the Norton Antivirus from Symantec? Thanks Rick
I updated and now all my desktop files are deleted and I can't even find them in Finder. I went on to my iCloud drive and it has been deleted on there as well.
Good afternoon. Unfortunately, I upgraded my Macpro 3.1 to version 14.1.1. WiFi stopped working, Bluetooth didn't work before. The display brightness control does not work. This is the result of the upgrade!
Thank you for your continuing efforts. Tried using OCLP 1.2 to download Sonoma 14.1.1. The file name is listed properly, but OCLP downloads the previous 14.1 (and not 14.1.1) instead. Tried it a few times...rebooted too, but the results are the same. Sonoma 14.0 was already properly installed using OCLP 1.1 on my 2017 27" iMac.
EDIT: Even though OCLP said the version that was downloading was 14.1 (during installer creation), it DID install version 14.1.1, (upgraded an existing OCLP 14.0 installation) and so far all functions normally (inc. WIFI and Bluetooth). The installation went smoothly with no issues.
Note: I use a high speed hard-wired Ethernet connection, but talk to a Windows11 laptop using WIFI.
Hello, thanks for your video. I would like to know if I should update to Sonoma. I am running the latest version of Monterrey and the battery life is outstanding. Is Sonoma as good as Monterrey is in Macbook air M1?
Thank you very much Mr as always 100 per cent your help. I updated my iMac mid 14, and works as new. 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Another wonderful update. Thank you for your great tests - a lifesaver!
Mac couldn't update it said couldn't update towards the end had to go back to 14.1 and do the fix for it from ur video to get it to work on here but 14.1.1 is not working on all macbooks
Cool, thank you.
That's very strange, first time Aople installed an older OS.
God bless.
I update my 15” MacBook Pro Mid 2012 to Sonoma 14.1.1 & OCLP v1.2.0, and it works fine, I didn’t encounter any issues even during installation. Tks
did you update by fresh install or just normal install?
Regarding 14.1.1: My 2 Nikon Z8's are not tethering on my MacBook Pro M2 Max; 14.1 worked without any issues. I've spoken with a Level 2 support at Adobe and a Level 3 support at Nikon. It appears that some 3rd party applications need to be updated. Has anyone else had this issue?
Thank you for all your work, and thanks to the developers
Still on Monterey with 2009 Mac mini....non metal....but updated OCLP to 1.2.0 ....I may try ventura at some time
Perhaps it would be interesting if the developer of the Open Core program thought of finding a loophole on the iPhone to update devices that do not support new updates. It would be very wonderful.. Just an idea.
unfortunately, as someone who has been in the jailbreak scene for 6+ years, I'm sure that this is impossible. iOS is too locked up for something like this.
Im still having the same issue on a mbp mid 2012. I get into the terminal via recovery usb stick. The I do the terminal stuff. Then I boot back up into secure mode.. downloaded the latest open core and kernel to a usb stick on another computer and install them on my mbp. Then do root plus post patch install. I restart and it’s still hanging with the loading bar again… aaaaarg
Also I stalled the kernel manually.. what’s that..
Successful clean install of Sonoma 14.1.1 and OCLP 1.2.0 on iMac 10,1. BT mouse and keyboard working fine after NVRAM reset. Needed USB 2 hub for Keyboard and mouse during initial install.
After the Update on my 15" 2016, my WIFI was not working, also the colours were washed. Post-Install root patches fixed the problems.
Since the update, various refresh rates have been available again
Updated Macbook Air 2017 to 14.1.1 no issues here. I use OCLP 1.2.0 .I reverted patches, reboot, then connected to internet via usb lan adapter, as wifi doesn’t work without patches got the update (only 400+ megabytes), then after reboot i installed patches again and everything seems fine
All I can say is that when I went to install Sonoma on my Mac, I couldn't get my keyboard nor my mouse to work.
unfortunately fresh install 14.1.1 failed and I had to install Catalina again and start from zero , and when I upgrade to 14.1.1, I didn't choose fresh install and I chose to upgrade directly to 14.1.1 and now system is ok , but still there is a big problem in OCLP to fresh install 14.1.1
Thank you Mr Macintosh for the update and keeping us all up to speed in times things change so quickly ! I have a quick question regargardin the mbp 8.3 you used to test. Does the TS2 patch works for you or do you have the dGPU disabled ? I'm using the mbp 8.2 and had to disable the AMD gpu with the DeMux patch but was wondering if with this new 14.1.1 and oclp 1.2.0 with will work with only TS2 patch applied. Thank you in advanced
I tried creating a macOS installer via OCLP and downloaded 14.1.1 but it downloads 14.1 instead. Tried it twice, same result.
Strange! Why are my point release updates 12 GB each and every time?
Has the update 'repository' gone nuts with OCLP on my Mac Pro 6,1 (2013)?
The big question is; will this update install from 14 (not dot 1) and prevent the catastrophic failure that happened to my M1 MBP trying to go from 12.6 to 12.7? That was a nightmare that required a visit to the Apple Store. And forced a Sonoma upgrade.
I’m having a problem with a 2013 iMac running Sonoma 14.1.1 and OCLP 1.2.1. I must have made the mistake of not disabling auto updates (I thought I had) but now the device is no longer booting at all (even safe mode and recovery don’t work). I’m a bit unsure what to do. I’m able to boot from the USB installer drive and use the Terminal and access other recovery functions
Thank you 😊 🎉❤
I'm getting a black screen in the iMovie preview screen with Mac OS Sonoma! Any ideas!? Please help! Running OPLC 1.5.0
I installed this update tonight on my macbook pro and on my macbook air. Now while using Safari I get a blank pages that refers to something called nginx. What is this and can I delete it from my computers somehow? Or did I do an upgrade thta I didn't really need and it messed up both computers. Should I downgrade the OS to fix this.
OCLP 1.2 fixes debugger crash! Awesome!
Mr. Macintosh, I installed macos sonoma on Macbook Pro 17 inch and the installation is ok but i don't get the opencare patcher pop up after the septup, what to do?
Did they fix the slow external SSD problem on Sonoma?
It's OK to upgrade from 14.1. to 14.1.1 directly from MacOS (General - Software Update)? I have seen the update is 12.9GB (rather strange size). I have MacBook Pro 2016 (with TouchBar) and latest Sonoma MacOS is installed via OCLP (ver 1.2.0.)
Thank you for doing this. My model is not ready. iMac late 2013 intel i5 Nvidia GT.
With 1.2.0 and installed 14.1 After full installation at Lock Screen keep freezing and refreshing screen every 1 -2 sec. I can’t even put my password fast enough to get back in
I downgraded for Mac to work
Thanks for sharing this info!
Tip: HOW 2 Update/Upgrade macOS with OCLP
1. ❗ *NEVER use Memoji* as User Pic / iCloud User Pic with OCLP
2. ❗ *First install OCLP* (if upgrading i.e. macOS 13 -> 14 ALWAYS❗ "Create macOS Installer") OR IF you're on macOS "Sonoma" then first❗check if there's a NEW version of OCLP and install thiis *INCLUDING* new "Build and Install Opencore" to you start disk
3. Now you could use the system updater to get the latest macOS 14.x version - but better is to wait till OCLP developers push out a new OCLP patcher version that includes the corresponding macOS update.😉
4. ❗ *Install the root patches* - in "secure boot mode" always the best
Hope this helps you! 👍🏻
With macOS 14.1 I had the same freezing screen but since installing root patches in secure boot - no freezing Lock Screen anymore.
With the macOS 14.1.1 + OCLP no issues. 🤗
## 15" MacBook Pro [rMBP 11,2 base model / Mid 2014] macOS 13.6.2/14.1.1 + OCLP 1.2.0 😊
Touch bar off/ not available/not working after sonoma upgrade on my MBR 2017.Please help Mr Macintosh
I have a MacBook Air M1 13". My Sonoma 14.1.1 update comes at 2.25GB. Why is the increament?
Since 2021 I'm still waiting the fix for the buggy-slow easing animation while swiping through multiple desktops on a 120 Hz Mac 🤦♂️
is there any lite explanation about whats going on here 😵💫
Hi! Thank you for enlightening me so I could upgrade my iMac 2011 to Mac OS Monterey. But I am now having some driver issues - no camera and most importantly, I use this iMac in my classroom but now I cannot do screen sharing or screen Mirroring. Are there or will there be any new patches soon? Or is there a way I can use the camera and screen sharing? Thanks
I was using my old iMac 10,1 as a second monitor but bow that doesn't work. According to Apple, that feature has been discontinued for all MacOS after High Sierra.
Updated my MacBook Air (2017 i5 base version) from 14.0 to 14.1.1 using OCLP 1.2.0 without a problem.
Thank You for your videos! For the first time I installed Sonoma 14.1 on my MacBook late 2016. Now the system is telling me there is version 14.1.1, can I upgrade from here or do have to use OCLP 1.2?
Many specialists and enthusiast says Breyer is with OCPL. This is my observations experience hearing and watching videos.
imac 5k 2017 upgraded without issues. Mini 2012 stuck after 3rd reboot on upgrade… \edit.. because i had a blonde moment. But now Mini 2012 upgrade worked wo issues.
I was watching Luke Miani's most recent video and immediately noticed his M3 Mac was running 13.5 according to Cinebench and I was like WTF? I thought Cinebench was reporting an incorrect OS version until I watched this video. Interesting stuff...
has anyone tried to create a boot disk for 14.1.1 23B2082 M3 only on a MacBook Pro M3 pro chip? i get this error.... Failed to extract AssetData/boot/Firmware/Manifests/InstallerBoot/* from update
bundle
The bless of the installer disk failed.
Mac support has no answer. I am 100% certain the install package is correct, and the commands to create the disk are correct. I am also 100% certain that the external boot drive is good and that it is formatted properly. Any help would be appreciated
Hello . Can you activate the subtitles on your video . THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK .
Some time you have to wait. Always subs after 1-2 hours after upload and dependsf the lenght of video.
Thanks a lot Mr Macintosh but I got a problem with the photo apps if I'm going to edit photo the apps will close.
My Caldigit Ts3 stopped working after this update...
All M2 Macs will get improved Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi 6 AP, also with 17.1.1 (iPads M2) and 14.1.1. Boot evaluation has changed and is more robust (Mx). Screen wake up from sleep is improved when external Monitors are connected(Mx).
This update crashed my computer (macbook pro 2013) and I had to re-install everything fro scratch from a backup. Same thing happened with the previous update so I recommend everyone wait.
Does anyone else think that the Apple renamed yearly "fluff" upgrade versions of MacOS and constant fixes are becoming a software nightmare? I no longer have a clue of what is what, what runs on what, or if I should upgrade, update or not. I think OCLP is great, but even those guys can't deal with the crap Apple is releasing these days.
Now Apple has shorted the lifecycle of it's products so new models come fresh out the factory already obsolete? Will the apple fanboys realize just how much they are being taken advantage of by Apple? Of course not.
for intel hd4600 can work?
14.0 is insanely stable and bug free, just stick to it lol, airpods switching works perfect too
Great video, (my problem is on my external monitor and "docks" wont show on the bottom of the screen just jumps in middle of the screen), anyone else have this issue?
Mr. Mac. I updated MBP 2016 to Os 14.1.1 yesterdsay already before your video showed up. I was able to update to 14.1.1 with difficulties but I found icloud stopped me from logging into my account and touchbar is totally dead. These are major problems for me. Can you give any insider's or expert thought. Since 14.1, having a lot of problems updating and now they are getting huge. I have encountered couldn't patch problem after not seeing that message for 2 years.
i also had the same issue on my MBP 2017 (dead touch bar). This forced me to go back to Ventura .Tell when you find a solution
@@rahimsuleiman2493 I go back to Monterey which bring me back icloud function and touchbar. I don't have to use opencore yet but I will not go back to Sonoma for now since the updates are very problematic. I may consider Ventura later,
I updated to 14.1.1 OTA NO ISSUES MAC AIR 2014
How yo update of we used open core legacy Patcher?
Its sort of worked with OCLP
I can get into safe mode - yet it says the drivers are installed. If I try to reinstall them, or OCLP - then the installer does not accept my root password (window bounces and rejects it) Anyone else seen this?
Well, six gazillion reboots and a panic later its now up and running - but I’ve seen this happen before when in safe mode on this macbookpro11,3 the safe mode bott seemingly breaks the ability of OCLP to validate my root password for patching. A workaround is use sudo su and do it via terminal
I have patched my MacBook air, I had to run the root patch after that to get my wifi working but the upgrade went well
Thank Mr Macintosh have upgraded to 14.1 and oclp 1.1.0 MacBook pro 2011 but the Bluetooth wasn't working and now upgraded to14.11 with oclp and still not working
What could be the problem have tried all the fix and fail could you help pls or someone help please
Hi, I have upgraded successfully to 14.1.1 using OCLP 1.2.0 on my 2011 MBP 13" earlier today. Did you try resetting PRAM ?
thanks
Yes I did reset the PRAM but still not working
Sonoma 14.0 was indeed very stable and everything worked great (well except for DRM content in Safari). My mid 2015 15" MBP was last formatted to install Big Sur a few years ago, then updated to Monterey, then updated (with OCLP) to Ventura and finally updated to Sonoma 14.0. After the 14.1 was released and I heard of the issues I decided to do a clean install of 14.1. I did not have any issues with the install but the system is definitely not working well. The screensaver (the classic flurry) doesn't work and sometimes the Lock Screen is black when waking up. The OCLP 1.2.0 did not help with these issues. Apart from the issues in the unsupported computer, the 14.1 update even on supported computers created a bug in Photoshop and Illustrator (and probably other Adobe CC apps) which made working with these apps very difficult. So yes, I'm desperately waiting for 14.1.1 to fix everything! I know it fixes the bug in Adobe apps. Let's hope it will fix the issues in my MBP! Starting downloading now...
tell us what is your impression about 14.1.1 after installing it
Yes please update if after effects is running as we're still with a "internal structure inconsistency" warning.
So the problems with Adobe apps are solved, however the other issues remain. I don’t know what to do. Should I clean install 14.0 and wait for 14.2?
Does this update solve the iCloud login issue on my 2017 MacBook Pro, fresh install of Sonoma 14.1 with opcl 1.1.0 still cannot login iCloud??
No. this update didn't make icloud login issue disappear on my 2016 MBP, I was able to update to 14.1 using USB installer successfully and on the contrarary, this update from 14.1 to 14.1.1 have made icloud login issues happen and it is big issue I couldn't fix by patching or by doing anything. Besides my touchbar is totally dead. I think we shouldn't update to 14.1.1 for now. It is not worth doing that.
Thanks, yeah my touchbar is dead as well I do hope that they’ll get working again, I have reverted back to Ventura for now waiting on password and touchbar fixes.
@@paulbagshaw379 Yeah, I downgrade my MBP 2016 to monterey for now to restore my mac to normal function. In emergency, I had to find some fixes quickly to save the computer and I had to rely on myself and didn't have time to ask anyone I think. Sonoma is not my interest any more.
everything works so fine with my old MBP 2012 8GB ram 256 ssd dual core i5 lol
THE MAJOR ISSUE HERE IS THE BATTERY DRAIN ! I do already changed it but its insane how the battery can't handle with the sonoma here.
with Harvey using youtube, and browsing on internet only last 40 min so far ... that's bad, with Montray it was way better....
If you using a DaCinci Resolve you will get a problem with 14.1 update. In sound tab customize windows (EQ and others) will be unclosable and undraggable. That's all that you should know about MacOS update.
Weird, fortunately I don't have that kind of problem so probably it's not related to 14.1. Maybe it's something with your project. Have you tried to paste all the footage to a new project?
Just installed Sonoma 14.1.1 using OCLP 1.2.0 on my MBP mid 2015 15' and got the same issue that I reported yesterday to your last video installing 14.1.0 using OCLP 1.2.0. The hitch is still the password. After restart you have to wait for type-in your password. This takes longer and must be done character by character even when the cursor occur. NOT before because this fails. I do not want to take the risk again with my iMac end 2015 until further instructions. Many thanks again for you great work!
did your touch bar worked after the upgraded?
My MB Pro mid 2015 has no touch bar.
@@deerstalker9882 thanks for the reply bro
It happened all the time or just when you turn computer on? I asked because time to time I have the same issue on Sonoma 14.0. When I turn on I have to wait about minut to type password normally. It happens only when computer is turn of and on again, not after sleep mode.
So, no 13.6.2 for Intel?
@@off-road-biker Should 13.6.2 appear for iMac13,2?
@@off-road-biker I don't think that's correct. It does not appear for me and he said in the video that the two different 13.6.2 updates are for Apple Silicon only.
@@patrickmaloney1810 Sorry correction, should only do one thing at a time.🙈
macOS 13.6.2. can apparently only be installed on the new iMacs M3 and Macbooks Pro from 2021.
My 14.1.1 update file size was actually 3.5 gab, idk why
Mine was 12 GB! Going from 14.1 to 14.1.1 on my mid-2014 MacBook Pro That can’t be right.
@@stephendavis8357 corrupt files maybe? The update failed on my first try, restarted my mac and that's when it got to 2.5
Sonoma 14.1 is better than 14.1.1. On the second version, our battery is getting crazy. (Monterey is still better for m2).
I still hate the new preferences can’t find anything in them, wish they didn’t try and turn os into iOS.
still not going to upgrade to Sonoma
I might not blame you... It looks good though bcos I did upgrade to 14.1.1, but resource demanding in some way no doubt running it compared to 13.6
@@lawrenceatkinson most likely skip it completely, does not really offer anything much for me.
@@sugargliderdude 👍
Yup staying on Ventura which is perfectly stable
Sonoma is fine. Battery life is still stellar on the M1 Air. Runs better than Ventura. Open Core on my 2017 iMac and it’s running like dream there.
lyw
You can't listen to this dude because he gets it wrong mozt of time
You should not be doing the upgrade straight away because you should wait
You shouldn't be listening to Mr mac
Crap
Jessie's a lot better and explains it in a better way
Let's remember some people have got some really old machines
It's not going to work
