Awesome. So good to know. Had no idea I could eat turmeric like a carrot 🥕
Gary likes eating like that, but adding it to stir fry with a dash of black pepper adds more health benefits too
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy thanks I will definitely try that. Sounds delicious 🤤
What! I had no idea!
Hi Robbie! I just bought 1/2 lb of organic turmeric, saved the parts with the nobbly bits and stuck them in some soil. Super excited to see if it will grow! I have some growing outside but I could ALWAYS use more! It’s like $16 a pound and I mix it in my coffee to brew every morning with some black pepper. 💚
Super!!! How most will grow, thank you can Eat What You Grow....and Grow
So, Did it Grow???
Turmeric is soooo expensive so yes I’m going to try it out too! With some partial and whole pieces ❤
I'm planting ginger today! Thanks for sharing 💜
You are so welcome 🤗 thank you
Thank you so so much. Will definitely try growing ginger your way .
Worth a try, take care
I’m going to try w ginger.
Thank you so much!
Hi Robbie I am curious on what sun direction you have your ginger and tumeric outside? I grew a very small amount last year (Tasmania so we are in Spring here in Australia but still very cold in the Huon Valley ). I used a large piece of ginger last year and made a smaller one as part of the large piece went weird. I have two leaves just out but they are very small nothing like your huge leaves. Do you keep the ginger as wet/moist as the tumeric? Thank you and Gary for your wonderful channel. I find it inspiring.
Do you want to make sure it doesn’t completely dry out but not waterlogged
I've got to try this!! 👍 Thanks for sharing!
Please do! I just put up an new video on Ginger and Turmeric, ua-cam.com/video/Gn54o_GVxoQ/v-deo.html
Going to try this next spring it’s starting to get wet and cooler her in Washington, don’t have a garage either and my cat tries to eat every plant in the house!😁Thanks for the video-Mechelle Olson
Come spring will be the perfect time, take care, thanks 😊
She’s brilliant!
Thank you 😊
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Robbie I’ve never eaten tumeric or ginger. I did buy some ginger for an Asian dish I made. I’d love to see how you use them and the other herbs you grow.
Excellent as always. They grow like potato skins.
Similar a bit more of the “meat” of the tuber 😊
Thank you awesome
We need to grow our own! Organic ginger is so expensive, and we use it everyday to make the BEST tea. So so good!
Thanks for sharing.
Yes we do, you are so right, thanks so much!
Recipe please! 😊
Excellent
When you but them in the garage do you water them? Can it be dark? And does it matter how cold it gets in the garage? I love your idea. Thank you
Love yourvideis. Thank yu for the simplicity!!!
It's cold in my area in winter. So can I just bring the plants indoors in the winter and they keep? Thanks
Hi Robbie🙂
My turmeric plant growth seems to be stunted (they’ve been abt 3 inches tall for aprox 8 wks) and the leaves have a rather yellowish hue. Do you fertilize and if so what do use?
By the way, I tried to subscribe to your channel, but the subscription option isn’t available.🤷🏽♀️
Do you have a video of you harvesting the tumeric using this method?
Hi, I love watching your videos. I saw one of your videos about growing turmeric and would love to grow some. I was wondering if you sell any of your turmeric and if so, I would love to buy some, from Everlena’s Garden
Hi , I did everything like you said and after about 3 weeks nothing happened 🤔🤷♂️
Thank you so much for this! Do you think these would do well in a stacking planter like a Greenstalk? We eat turmeric weekly and this would be a great way to cut food costs.
You can grow them in containers so it should work thanks
What is tote soil?
Fantastic 👏👏👏👏
Should them be on shade or full sun ? I’ve learned so much from you thanks
Ours like Morning and early afternoon sun.
How can you tell if something has been radiated.
Unfortunately there is no way to know there is no real regulations on that and they are allowed to do that to turmeric and ginger because they consider it a spice, they do not have to label it. At that point it is hoping for the best.
Thanks Robbie, this is helpful I planted the entire turmeric and it did not grow.
If it is cold outside it will not grow until the weather warms, but if it was treated, than it may not grow, best of luck
What do you mean treated? With chemicals?
Amazing! I should have kept my ginger under the eaves the previous winter. It was growing nicely then one day gone. It melted in the rain.
Sounds like it just got too wet and cold. Easy to start again in the spring as the weather warms. Take care
Ok you showing the greens what abut digging one pot to show the roots . Grow leaf is easy but is a different story to grow the tubers.
You simply leave it in a pot to grow longer and it form tubers, as that is the way they grows.
Thanks what all can you use it for ??? Use the spice but haven't grown it🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
In stir frying, tea, cookies, cooking chicken, add to vegetables 🌶, or even grated up if one has heartburn and also great for up-set stomach. So much more 😊
Here's a thought. Write your channels name in large letters on something so the helicopter, camera person, etc can see it. Free advertising 😉😅
LOL 😂 I will keep that in mind for next time thanks
In all I've seen in ayervetic medicine and ancient culture's foods, turmeric is, one, always cooked minimally 6-8min, and two, always cooked in a fat. Uncooked turmeric w/o a fat is most likely behind why some get kidney stones. Paying attention to old recipes pays. There's a reason they have them. Like my family from southern middle America, we use black pepper in everything, and always has garlic and oniin powders. It turns out bp is a great digestive aid. Since we didn't eat or have access to hot peppers, garlic, or onions, and such, bp was our access to creating warmth in digestive process.
I have turmeric powder and it's very bitter. Trying to figure out a way to use it. I know it has great anti inflammatory properties.
Always add black pepper with turmeric, it works better for inflammation.
WHAT SPECIES OF GINGER AND TUMERIC SO I CAN ORDER RHIZOMES
I know I need to eat turmic. How do you eat it Robbie?
I add it to my green drink, stir fry, soups, and even just like a carrot. Take care
Where do you get them from
Try a grocery store and see if the have organic ones, in the fresh produce section 😊
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I bought some one time from grocery store and them would not root.why is my dill throwing flowers and it's tall and skiny
You see I know you!!
😊
What if I do it and it rots?
Then it simply becomes part of the soil
Now how strange is this? You have a helicopter overhead and we've also had one circling for about half an hour - I couldn't make up my mind at first whether it was on your video or outside here.
Lol, maybe I live next door…just kidding to funny 😄
