This type of repair tests the "stubbornness", "obstinacy" and other synonyms that characterize a true electronic service technician. A sincere congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.
The only way one gets to fix these PSU is when you have deep knowledge on how every single component works on the unit. Another amazing video. Enjoyed it all through.
@@ToltecMercwell if you love The challenge I would pay you to just tell me what's wrong with my PS4 slim. A couple months ago it started smoking out of the back of it and then threw sparks. So I took it apart completely and I just wiped everything down plugged it back up it started working but it only worked for another month until it shot Sparks out the back again where the power plug goes. Then I take the power supply apart and the motherboard electrocuted me even though it wasn't plugged up it's still electrocuted me. And I think it's fried but every time I touch the d11 component inside of the motherboard with a screwdriver it throws Sparks. Help!?
Another very good informative video ,Thank you for your persistence, as every fault discovery is another pathway for component knowledge and experience .
hi I'm working on this power supply for ps4 slim, that behaves in a similar manner as other cases but I can't find a way to solve the problem. When it came to me, externally the ps4 had standby voltage, clicking the disc eject button made the triple beep (without disc inside) and cliking on the power button made the blue power light turn on and then all turned off within 1 second. The 12v rail doesn't try to start, not even a little spike, and then the 5VSB fades out. If I unplug the mains and reconnect them after at least 10 seconds, 5VSB comes on again.
23:58 That grinding moment looked suspicious to me but I was "OK I made mistake, he saw it is OK", later on surprise, you came back to it. 33:24 I suggest you to use green rubber dremel bit, its much more gentle to copper and remove only plastic layer. 37:39 Since you work with PS4 a lot, why u dont make connector with button? Im trying to avoid metal tweezers totally, for soldering I use with ceramic tip.
I have thought about making a button pcb but I never seem to have an extra ribbon cable with connector that I want to dedicate to it. The cable I have is used for trouble-shooting power supplies and motherboards so I would need different connections for each. Still, I should come up with something. Thanks for watching and commenting!
On my PS4 slim PSU there are two bad zener diodes at the same place like those that you have changed, markings are W7d, do you think they are 18v zener? Great videos thank you :)
Great job! Switching PS's are a bitch. I love the challenge. I know what roaches are like. We has them about 10 years back. I spent about $2000 on our own trying to get rid of them. Paid Terminex $130, and they were 100% gone within 3 weeks. Now they come around everything three months and spray outside. Those fxcking things destroyed the microwave, stove, laptops, TV, you name it. I have have replaced all the kitchen appliances, washing machine, dryer, TVs, game systems and computers since then. I will NEVER live with those GD things again!!! I think I brought them home from a hotel. When I work above my suspended ceilings, even today, I still find their carcasses; totally gross. I am impresses you were able to repair a cockroach destroyed switch supply. I know the smell you smelled while working on that PS4. It would have scared me if you found live ones in it. It only takes one and then several weeks or months later, you are totally infested.
