Let’s note a high schooler had the lead with 200 meters to go, and ran a 3:35.59 which would have be the 14th fastest performance, all-time, if he was a collegiate athlete in the USA, but it wasn’t even his PR, slower by more than a second.
Great to see Oli back in form. Myers did great but just kicked a little early with a bold move, if he hugged the rail like Centro and timed his kicked a bit later when the pack splits up on the bend he could have won. Fun to see him put it all on the line and take some risks.
He got boxed in and had to do quite a bit of work in the last lap to get out to a lane where he had to do a lot of work for that third place. Not sure that was by design.
Meyers is looking promising, even though he faded out at the end there, but that was probably lack of experience more than anything - he's still so young. It's hard timing a kick right especially in a bit pack like that.
3:34/5's.....I can empathize with these guys, all probably in heavy training at present with peaking for the Olympics forefront in their thoughts......You will your legs to move faster but they are leaden from training....but each will be better for this race under their belt, in 6 weeks they will be running low, or even sub 3:30 (especially exciting for Cam and Reynold)
They kept saying the aussies are in peak shape because of their championships but that really only applies to maybe Cam and Jesse Hunt right? They’re the only ones that train in Australia, but even so, they’re going to peak their seasons around the summer diamond leagues and the Olympics. Not to mention Olli is training in Boulder so he’s fully on the European DL/olympics cycle. Yes he raced in Aussie champs, but that was like one of his first race of the season
the story here is ollie is annoyed he missed the olympic time 3.33.5. that's what he's been chasing at different meets. he has the placement from coming 2nd at his trials but not the time yet. it's a shame the commentators missed this
I agree, but he at least is going to put himself in the conversation. It will be interesting to see how they all stack up in the Pre Classic time trial next week.
Centro has to stop relying on a slow tactical race and trying to out kick everyone. He need to stay in connect in/near the front (and not get trapped on the rail) and he'll be able to use his kick more efficiently.
Whatever, this is his last hurrah! He doesn't have any chance to compete for a medal at the Olympics because that final is going to be well under 3:30. Centro is just enjoying his last year. Given how weak the USA is in the 1500M, he has a chance of a tactical race at the trials, and could possibly make the team. But even if he makes the team, he can only hope to advance to the finals at the Olympics as a best result. He would not be a factor in the finals for the medals. But can't blame him for wanting one last run at team USA and the Olympics.
@@staceman7981how is the u.s. weak right now? Teare 3.32, Hocker 3.30, Kessler just ran 1.45, nuguse 3.43 mile.....that's pretty friggin good for any country!
@@PaulJohnson-zk1yr nguse is a legit threat for sure, but all the others have no chance at a medal and likely will struggle to make the final. By USA standards that is weak. Only Neuse has adapted to the new reality in the 1500m. Fast from the gun. All the others require a tactical sit and kick. Thus.....they have no chance.
@@PaulJohnson-zk1yr if you say so. Go back and listen to the call of the Olympic final. COLE hockers name was not even mentioned once in the race. That's how relevant he was.
These NBC announcers are so bad. Try going to the local middle school and getting three sports reporters they would be much better. The race however, was quite good.
1500m is going to be boring if this is how the Olympics final goes. Thank God Jakob is going for record times bc this sitting back style of Centro’s era is boring compared to what we see in so many other track events.
Centro looked GREAT on that homestretch push -- gotta be a confidence builder.
Would love to see a great Centro season!
he never looks like he's hurting
He looks so relaxed didn't he. Great to see him going well again
Great run by Ollie, timed his surge perfectly..🇦🇺

Got nothing on Laros
2 seconds
I think he might still have the world lead in the 1500 this year too, which is sick
@@SotaMaehara nah he's fifth this year now

The patience of Centro in that race was masterful.

Insane ollie. I’ll never forget the armory training camp, congrats

Hoare is such a greath athlete!!! and great that Centro came back like he did - so resiiliant! and GREAT!
Ollie pulled off the “Beamish move” 😀🔥🏃♂️🏃♂️
Centro is returning to career best shape one last time
Learning something from George! #TextbookGeorge

They only ran that slowly because they didn't go with the pacer
Bro centro looked so smooth

When the intent is Olympic qualifying standards you do not run a tactical slow race.
Congratulations champion 🏆
Not mentioning the standards a single time is wild, honestly it feels like the commentator who isn't Lewis isn't even watching the race
That’s one fast Hoare!
High schooler Myers runs the equivalent of a 3:52.84 mile! Wow!
Centro hasnt looked this good in 4 years
Hell yeah Centro!
F yeah Ollie! 🇦🇺
thank you for not putting the result in the title
Atta boi Ollie! Was that blood on the back of the speed suit?
All I want is Craig to win
The Best Centro
Good like in Paris...
He’s gonna struggle to make the team with hocker, nuguse, and Kessler out there
I agree Centro is in great form but is unlikely to make the team because there is such a strong cohort of runners at the moment.

Centro went to late
Cam Myers is playing Chess. Everyone will expect him to fade in Paris now, but he will run away with it 😉
waited til some teens took the lead smh. come on lads
centroowitz could have won if he wasn't boxed in
Some would say tactically inept then
Nah the master tactician chose to be in about 10th by the final lap. He made no moves the whole race until the last 150.
At 34 years old I think his time has passed, could be wrong but don't think so.
Nope he wouldn't..
