It went unmentioned by the commentators, but Kessler's winning time was only about 0.4 off the American record.

They did say it was 3rd best all-time U.S. run.

Considering how well Jake normally closes, Kessler timed this so brilliantly.

This kid ran 3:34 as a high school senior. That is equivalent to a 3:51 mile. While I won't call him another Jakob I as a youngster, his potential is off the chart. If he is uninjured in two years he'll be the top American miler/1500 person and that includes Yared, and even this year he has the potential to be top 10 in the world. He just keeps getting better and better and he is so unassuming and cool about the whole thing. Lets just hope he doesn't get injured mountain climbing or whatever his other passion is. That's Scary! Hopefully his shoe company will be like an NBA or NFL team and puts in the contact not to do anything dangerous!

Extremely smooth acceleration from Hobbes. Ironically similar to Wightman, hard to see when he’s starting to really move. Just a little increase in turnover and just runs away from them all. Great stuff

Kessler looks like he loves indoors the way Eamonn Coghlan did, and not dissimilar styles.

Beginning to really watch Hobbs. He could be a podium contender at the Olympics this summer!

Looking good for Jake....seems to be getting back to his best at about the right time for Paris. Kessler looks like he will have a good future although the best American ATM has to be Nuguse. The Paris final is going to be so exciting with Olympic champion Jacob Ingebrigtsen and World champion Josh Kerr in the mix too plus who knows which Africans will be running well this year.

Not really important because he finished 10th, but how did Zeleke not get DQed? He ran the first two turns a full lane inside of the cones!

Pretty hilarious how nobody cared about it. It wasn't just a few strides. He ran entire turns on the lane inside. There actually were no cones, but he knew he was in the wrong lane because he kept trying to go back up to the next lane but kept dropping back down to the inside lane.

If he remains healthy, Kessler is a real threat to not only make The US Olympic 1500m Team but make the podium in Paris. He appears at ease out there. Almost effortless. In 2028, hope he can contend in the 1600m(4 full Laps). New distance being run in LA. While they’re at it, I hope The Olympic Organizers will consider the following new events: 1000m, 3000m, half marathon 4 x 800m and/or Distance Medley. Based on my conversations, world Athletics is sadly looking to reduce the number of events, not increase them. I guess table tennis and breakdancing are of a higher priority.

Where did you read that they're going to have a 1600m for the 2028 Olympics? 😂 All I can find is an April Fools post on LetsRun from 2019.

i definitely wish there was a DMR, but including lots of other distances would be a logistical nightmare with heats, semis etc, think they could manage to fit a half marathon in though, great idea, .... perhaps we could have a world champs just based on distance , 800 and above and all the different relays, i am biased towards distance,

Commentators: talk about the race while the race is on. Give us names, places, splits. Save the theory, history, speculation, and inconsequential minutia another time.
