26:49 I know nothing about tiling either wall or floor. The way Mike explained how to lay floor tiles in a way that I could understand, and I would have a go.
The previous owner of my home was a "home inspector". The DIY done was horrible. Outlets spark, outlets pushed into the walls to accommodate oversized appliances, etc. They installed laminate and tile in the basement. I removed the laminate and tile to find the hidden disaster of a heaved and badly cracked concrete slab. The home inspector I used (NOT the previous owner), found no issues with anything. If only Mike Holmes were in my area. My fear of finding the right concrete contractor to replace the basement floor, only to find out they may be one like in this video, keeps me from hiring.
It was smart on the homeowners part to make copies of the original paperwork, and being vigilant on the comings and goings of those workers. Hopefully the homeowners took that contractor and his cronies to court over all of this.
you bad contractors that make this stuff for mike to fix , what do you have to say for yourselves? of curse some your work speaks for itself. ps love the show!
The biggest loss in real estate is FIRE. I never understood why Americans build their house with match sticks! (wood) The last house that I built, was made of reinforced concrete! (you can't burn concrete) 14-inch outside walls, 6-inch 20 gauge steel inside walls, 36-inch solid wood doors, electrical was commercial-grade, 12 and 10 copper wire, in conduit pipe. 200 Amp service box, 125K BTU boiler for radiant heat and hot water. 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, heated garage, huge windows, wood inside and extruded aluminum outside maintenance free. reinforced concrete radiant heated floors. (no static energy sparking) In 2020 we had a 5.6-scale earthquake, we didn't bother to get out of bed, and the whole house shook in one piece, no cracks, nothing broke. Most neighbors had damage from the basement, floors, and roof. The house was cheaper to build than the ones made of wood.
Watching skilled professionals at the top of their craft is a thing of beauty. I've been in the business for decades, and I never get tired of it.
It was like the basement was sick and Mike and the crew healed it. This coming from a 76 yr old grandma. Just love watching the process.
Me too ,35 here
And once you get past 60, it's "years young"!
love it when mike wrote not my first basement more like 100 in response to the board he found lol
🥲 we need more people like Holmes in the world

I remember in my parent's home being told to leave the fan on after a shower.

Loved the show
Awesome
Sounds like dls construction, help yourself to whatever you need.
If the contractors don't have or refuse to get permits- fire them immediately.
I wish all the bad contractors should forever feel like they have a hair on the back of their tongue. One they can never find.
It’s usually very hard to sue a contractor this would be so damn easy he the one that made that contract up and broke everything in said contract
8:25 "8, 9, 10, 11, blue i love you" the beatles song right?
Name and Shame the contractor bud!
Damn right
Camera person sure likes Pinky.
Apart from anything else...she is a novelty.

And how much did that cost compared to a wood framed home?
Have any laws been created since so much of this work is criminal?
Laws are there, it's just civil, so owners need to take action.
You would need to prove it's deliberate fraud for it to be criminal.
don't worry, these guys aren't on cocaine, the video was just sped up.
Why the **** is the programme sped up. All the characters sound like a Mickey Mouse movie…..shame on you
All of Magda Stella's you tubes of Mike Holmes are like this and I hate it. I won't watch them anymore.
Put the speed of the video at 0.85 and you're golden.
Boo hoo - no one is forcing you to watch.
