Hey @ambermariemalone! Thanks so much for checking out my video! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment (and I respond as often as I can - with 500 videos posted it's hard to keep up now!_). Keep tuning in!
Posting content after a 30 year professional career made me feel like EVERYONE was watching and judging - but I get soooo many old colleagues telling me they admire what I'm doing...so I must be doing something OK...all we can do is try out best with the best intentions of putting something of value out to help people. If you do that, you are a winner, IMHO.
i just posted a video on instagram after watching this video. i am panicking but trying to internalize everything you have said just to calm me down. i hope it goes well. thank you Philip.
The first ones are the hardest. It gets easier and the more you do the less important each one is - volume makes the pressure less. It’s weird but it works.
I have this but for LinkedIn. I’m an accounting uni student and whilst my peers and network get into internships with business leaders, I get into lesser known companies that I truly have interest in. But since everyone else gets into the high-end internships, I find it super awkward to post my achievements. It’s so ridiculous, I should be excited and pleased but I am just anxious and insecure…
I have simple advice: JUST START. It gets easier every time you post - nd with every post the previous ones become less important. The fear is of the unknown. When the posts become "real" the fear dissipates.
Inspiring video that encourages to step outside of your comfort zone and not be in fear of posting. You have to remember that you or your companies success shouldn't be held up by naysayers and negative comments to your post. Be true to yourself and you will find that there are many that are in the same boat as you and have the same thoughts and will be encouraged by what you are posting.
I’m so scared too comment on a live stream and posting videos and I’m scared of my favorite youtubers deleting my comments and live comments when they go live on UA-cam
I pulled off of social media due to a VERY serious stalking issue. It started on social media. That is where my anxiety stems from. I'm worried it will be that one random unhinged creep that will find everything they can about me and show up at mine and my family's homes AGAIN. The worst is knowing that I didn't put any personal info on my old accounts and now most platforms pressure you to do just that.
When I watched this I got a bit less fearful...!! Reason I'm scared is because I don't have copyright yet. So I'm so afraid someone might steal my work....!! Might claim it's actually there's or I was drawing a for them....??
I just posted a video on my channel and I feel like I'm having a bit of a panic attack. This happens every time I post anything resembling my actual real life personality, which can be big. I feel like I have to scale myself down and water myself down for UA-cam and I feel that I can't share my opinion. I don't want to just be someone who relays information though, I want people to see who I am and be authentic because I think people will relate more. It's SO difficult. I've trashed videos I've spent days working on out of fear and anxiety. Thanks for posting.
Hi Brittney - thanks for commenting and sharing so honestly. I checked out a few of your videos and I think you can easily - and comfortably - amp up your personality. You're fun! When you get more relaxed in your commentary its more entertaining. When you tyryto be too formal (or 'professional' - whatever that is) it gets a little dry - you're doing great! Just keep going!
You said, "people don't watch you as much as you think they do, and most of the time, they may not even notice it" speaking about why people fear posting. While that may be true to a point, what happens when you try to run for public office, or want to do something no one's done before, or hold position of authority? At that point they start watching, and you've graciously supplied them with all of your social media presence over the years for them to pour over, misconstrue, take out of context, and who knows what else. I don't know what I may want to do down the road, but I'm pretty sure it's easier to forego replying to someones controversial post, or grouping myself in with an organization that avows ideas I may, at the moment, agree with, or even post something I may think is harmless and trivial at the time, and avoid having to explain that in a congressional hearing, or in a job interview, or from a news anchor during an ambush interview. I suppose for most people, it may never be an issue but we're creatures of change. What I like now may, and likely will change down the road. I could read a compelling article, do my own research or, in a group discussing with my friends, change my stance on a big issue. It just seems like a risk that's not worth taking in the long run. Even posting here might scream "this guy doesn't really suffer from this or he wouldn't be writing this", but it just occurred to me, I referred to myself as a guy, and 10 years ago, who would have thought that statement would be controversial?
thank you for this great video. I hate and feel uncomfortable when people from real life know me on social media, I live in small city and I feel im watched all the time so I closed them all.
