I saw the documentary back in 1993 and still have my copy of the vhs. There was a documentary called “Resistance is Useless” (or something similar) prior to this documentary being shown.
I’m another one who watched the video endlessly. More Than is such a fantastic piece of work, and Kevin’s comments were really interesting here. Thanks as ever, you handsome Chimp!
I had the VHS for years. I loaned it to a few friends, before the 1996 TV Movie, to encourage viewing, for a few who didn't know much of the series. Quite glad that it was on DVD, with Shada, even here in the US.
This is one of the best Doctor Who documentaries produced by the BBC, but I think that the near 3 hour array of documentaries aired for 1999’s ‘Doctor Who Night’ are just that bit better. Adventures in space and time, carnival of monsters, how to build a TARDIS, all linked by Tom Baker in costume. Bizarrely never released on VHS or DVD though
Your video has convinced me to buy the DVD boxset with Shada included. (You never know when the global elite will switch off the internet, physical media is important, we will own Doctor Who Merch and We will be Happy.) I remember watching it on VHS when I visited my cousin John in Harrogate back in 1999 IIRC but the memories are rather vague i don't remember what was said, i do remember some of the imagery though.
I think this deserves a special edition release, I was a bit miffed the dvd didn’t have info text, commentary or a “making of”, KJD touches on just a few anecdotes and supposedly there’s still a lot of stuff that didn’t make it into the tv and vhs edits. Maybe if we get “Wilderness Years” in the collection range🤔
Unquestionably, the greatest of all documentarys about Dr Who. But then Kevin Davies cared about the show. Unlike the BBC, who felt the heavily truncated version that was actually broadcast, was more than enough to keep the "Nerds" happy. Disgraceful, BBC.
My VHS copy is slightly frayed around the top and bottom ends of the tape. Comes from watching it over and over and over and over as a teen in the 90s. Must find a DVD copy from the legacy collection Probably the longest lasting influence it's had on me was how I can't see anything made in rubber without putting on a random voice from the 70s (like in the clip with the Sea Devil's mask) and saying "We cast that head in rubber" (which, now I think about it, sounds obscene)
I saw this back in 1993 the year I was aged 24, and I was only working part time and earning terrible wages and working on the weekends Saturdays in particular and it was jolly disgusting and horrible . I also in 1993 when I was 24, wondered if Dr Who would having turned 30 years old ever come back, or had it gone for good and was only been repeated and released on vhs with no hope of the series ever been on tv ever again.
Stand up, stick out your digit and use the buttons on the front of the video section! You might be too young to remember life before remote controls...

This isn't The Best Doctor Who Documentary Ever. It's just a Tribute to the Best Doctor Who Documentary Ever.

@4:51 definately inspired rise of the cybermen's scene where the cybusmen make a big entrance

good fun Chimp, I adore Silvester and Sophie, many great memories thank you.
What an awesome video, I love interviews with the unsung heroes of Doctor Who's past
It is superb and how exited we all got when they hinted at a return. Watched it on TV at the time and later bought it.

Think I'm going to need to track down a copy of this...

It's awesome I love it
Bravo! Wonderfully done. - fnord
@brianthesnape Thank you, Brian. Hope you enjoyed.😁😁😁
100% is in my book
got the vhs and the dvd
It is great. Sadly, a modern Gen z audience probably wouldn't appreciate it.

I didn't notice those buttons until after I wrote the joke.😉
