Nissan Won't Start (QUICK FIX), Push Button Start.

- My Juke has almost 150,000 miles on it and it would not start this morning with the push button. In this video I describe how I got it started. Nissan Juke 11 2011 push to start. The car turns on but won't start. Anyone who is having this similar issue with push to start on their car or Nissan push to start this is a quick fix to get you going. If car turns on but will not start it possibly means that your brake switch and or cruise control switch is going bad. If you are pressing down on the brake peddle and car does not turn on and after a short time the brake peddle gets harder to push. Wiggle the brake switch and cruise control switch. Please note that will you need to change brake switch and or the cruise control switch as it is wearing out. If it's to expensive at the dealer you can purchase one on Amazon just make sure to get OEM genuine Nissan switches. I ordered mine today and both switches on Amazon were less than 50.00 together.

@walter g Wow that is scary for a new car! I for one will not be buying another Nissan and I have owned seven new ones this will be the last one. I have had several issues with this Juke, way too much electronic crap in it that was not properly vetted before being put into it. I have had the short move issue where if you move the car a short distance the next day it will not start, I took it to the dealer at least five times for this while it was under warranty and they kept saying no trouble found. Plus the issues with the CVT and Timing chain to name others.

So also wondering if u know anything bout the parking lights changed my fuse and bulbs but they still wont come on

Absolutely worked! My wife was stranded at a barren Target parking lot for hours on a Sunday, distancing from all others. I knew this was not a battery or key issue, but the 2017 Nissan Sentra refused to start. Other experience and videos told me this was a switch problem. Omgosh! 2011 Juke SL here. I have been dealing with this same intermittent problem for well over a year. It never showed up when I took it to the dealer. The not starting problem happens for days at a time usually and then will go away for days to several weeks. It was not the key fob battery, the car battery, and I couldn't find anything that worked consistently to make it start. After being stranded over 2 hours today, I watched your video, wiggled the switches, and it worked! Thanks so much.
I replaced the switches on my Juke and the problem never came back. Glad you were able to get going today!
You are a life saving. Driving from Chicago to Las Vegas. Stopped to get gas in Iowa and the car wouldn't start. Did what you said and it worked. My car is a 2019 Nissan Sentra with on 10,276 miles on it. I will be going back to the dealership when i get back to Vegas. Thanks you so much.

It worked my husband changed the brake switch. He also got new FOB batteries and that didn't work but I watched your video and told him about brake switch and so far its working. I will keep you updated. Oh forgot to mention hes out of town and we are stressed about that. PS THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THE VIDEO.

We got a 2019 Pathfinder, got the same problem. When you're driving down the road do you have lights come on the dash and your cruise won't set. That's what ours is doing, plus the dont start thing.

Great video and much appreciated. My wife's Armada would not start and had been trying everything for last hour. Tried the key fob holding to ignition, tried jump start, tried alleged push button bypass (hold ignition button 30 seconds) and nothing worked. Fiddled with the brake light switch and got it started. Doesn't say much about the quality control of modern vehicles since her Armada is only 2 years old. The Nissan Service Department would not give any advice! "Tow it to us" You should work for them since you have better customer service. What if we had been stranded far from home in the TX heat! 20 years ago you could call the dealership, speak to a live tech and they would actually give you advice because they wanted to earn your business. Now you go through 3 minutes of voice prompts to be told by an entry level call center rep to tow your car to dealership. Appreciate the video.

Honestly don’t know how to thank you, beyond lifesaver. My fiancé was having the same problem, some days car would start with the push start and others it just refused to start. Before we took it to the dealership we wanted to do some research first and hopefully come across a DIY video. Luckily we were able to find this video which solved the problem immediately. Thank you so much. Truly appreciate it. Anyone that’s having a similar issue, this really works. Just switch out those two switches and boom, problem solved. By the way I will be subscribing to this channel.

I have a 2019 Sentra sv with only 6,200 miles, bought it new with 12miles on it. I had this same problem today 4-23-19 and wiggled it and worked! Was going to take it to the dealership but now I can't. They will most likely say I messed it up. Now to wait for it to happen again to have the dealership replace it since it's under warranty still. Thank you! I missed work today because my car wouldn't start. I found your video, tried it, and my 2013 Nissan Juke started right up. The part is being sent to my local parts store and I'll have it today. With the overheating transmission (CVT) that sends the car into limp-mode/engine protection mode where RPMs won't go over 2500 and now this issue I was ready to junk it. Thanks to you I'll keep it for a bit longer.
Been having this problem for over a year where jiggling the cables was getting us by... til finally it just wouldn't start anymore. Nissan dealership wanted $60 just to diagnose so I came across your post, ordered both switches $42 from Amazon.. 2 minute install, haven't seen the problem since (about a month now). The scary part is reading all the posts everywhere about similar issues and dealerships never finding the problem. Our car is out of warranty so that's a no go.

I had an issue with my Juke took it to the dealer 5-6 times they never figured it out, really poor training for the techs there, I even had to tell them about a tech bulletin they did not know about that I found by reading forums.
In general they're all crooks since most people are unwilling to fix anything themselves and you NEED your car.
My mom's infinity had a sensor go out which cost her $400. Later that year my same sensor went out, took it to a place called Pep Boys who takes literally 15 seconds to run diagnostics for FREE and confirmed what I had read about online. $120 part.
If not for DIY videos like this for problems I've fixed over the last 20 years there's no way to add up the total lost $$ man. This was too specific a problem thanks again for taking the time to share.

Awesome that it helped you, thanks for letting me know. I have a video to replace the switches also, it only takes a few minutes, there is a link in the vid description for the switches and they cost less than $50 for both together.. My Juke is 2011, and just started this behavior a few months ago.
Thank you so much!! This got me to work this morning with practically no effort. I've seen your comments about other issues you've had with your juke. I actually had a problem with mine which caused the battery to drain completely and leave me stranded... Turns out there is a problem with the computer that causes it to sometimes not kick the alternator on. The dealership had no idea and couldn't figure out what was wrong until I printed out the service bulletin and brought it to them. Ugh!!
I am glad to have helped you out this morning!!! We always assume the dealership techs are the "experts", but after my experience with this car I know longer think this. When I had the issue with mine trying to crank over and not start after a short move of the car the day before it would drain the battery trying to get it started....

This is just to help anyone who's tried messing with the brake sensor and your key fob is still working fine but the car won't start. You may have activated the security mode mode. I have a 2011 nissan altima and what I had to do was get in the car. push the start button once to set it to ACC. Then while it's in ACC lock then unlock your door using they key fob or door button. turn the car on then off then try to push the brakes to start it up. worked the very first time I tried it
