Great video. I'm finding PCH deals cheaper for this car than a Corsa-E, which is strange considering the size and range difference. Definitely don't need a small SUV but I can't see why you'd pick a Corsa,Zoe or Leaf over this when the MG is cheaper on finance

Great to see this video. Was waiting for this after hearing about it from your preview. Great review. I've got my order in for April. Something I've noticed is missing off all the borchures and marketing is there presence of HVAC (which is accessible via the app). It's actually an improvement over the old version which used your classic engine/coil Aircon. Meant to be more efficient and affect battery much less. HVAC is capable of heating and cooling also.

Should hopefully order the MG ZS EV Trophy this weekend 🤞. Shame I couldn't reserve the long range model but to be fair we only do about 200 miles a week. ... so after watching this full video I have some concerns, I have a toddler and if we're travelling down the motorway and stop off at a service station, it would be an absolute nightmare faffing around trying to find a new charging point if the queue was too long or the machines were broke. I'd have an angry wife who would argue we should of just got a combustion engine car. The next thing which concerns me is that only 1 person can use the app. We only have 1 car in our household so this would be painful if we need to keep logging on and off all the time. We should have the option to set profiles... why doesn't MG do this!?!?🤔 This video is very insightful but it does raise concerns.

Depends on the circumstances, no one likes lane hoggers, however others think 70 is perfectly fine in the 3rd lane, which it isn’t, the majority of motors travel way faster, therefore if the flow of traffic is faster in that lane il stay there until I can travel at that speed in the 1st lane. There are far too many drivers who try and police others and try and dictate, pass then shift out if the way.
Hi there, great informative video. Just curious about the app comment. 1 person at one time on the app? Does that mean you can only tie one user to the app for that car, so even if two of you were to get the app on your phones could you use one persons log in but use the app separately ? Or does it tie the car to that one phone? You know there may be a time when my partner wants to use the app on her phone but then I may want to use the car when she is away somewhere or vice versa on my phone. Does that make sense? Can a couple tie themselves to the car with the app? How does it register? I read something about it gives you a QR code etc etc? Many thanks
Hi Neil, So glad you liked the video! In regard to your questions, we reached out to MG, and their product specialist came back with this: The car can only bind to one ‘user’. It recognises a user by the account details setup (email or phone number), regardless of what phone those details are on. So, in the example we had, because the car you had was already bound/binded/paired/linked… to my user it could not connect yours. That meant we had to go through the unbind process. This is a process an owner would only really need to do when they first get their car, and then when they sell it on. It is possible to have more than one phone with the iSmart using the same user credentials paired with the car. So, if you have the app on your phone set up with your user account, you could also have the same user account details set up on Bens phone. This way the car is still only binding with one user account. If you are driving the car your iSmart app can be logged in, if Ben were then to take the car for the day, you could log out of the app, not unbind, and he could login. This would be the simplest way for couples/families to use the app. Only one phone can be logged in at any one time, but logging in/out is easier than bind/unbind. I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need anything further.

I have a 30 kwhr leaf and have had it for 5 1/2 years. The day I bought it tha rapid infrastructure was hopeless and 5 1/2 years later it is even worse , with the same maintenance routine, slightly more units but electric cars increasing rapidly and therefore demand for rapid chargers outstripping supply. I have been looking at a long range EV, but I will keep my 600 mile diesel merc for many years to come, because of the very poor rapid charging infrastructure. I will keep my leaf around town on the home charger umbilical chord range where it excels and is cheap to run at 5p per kwhr and my diesel for long trips. A long time ( years ) and a long way to go before the rapid charger infrastructure can match ice. At that point I will look for a long range EV, I hope that I can live long enough to see it ? The North is no better as you suggested, as I found out at wetherby, watching people waiting for available chargers.

What are your feelings on people who constantly drive in the right hand overtaking lane and don't move left?
Many thanks
Good question, we’ll double check with MG UK and thank you for the kind words
Hi Neil,
So glad you liked the video! In regard to your questions, we reached out to MG, and their product specialist came back with this:
The car can only bind to one ‘user’.
@@PlanetautoUK wow , that’s a brilliant response . Thank you so much for finding out the information required . I test drove one last weekend and my expectations were low . I’ve never driven an electric vehicle before and I think there is a lot of badge snobbery when it comes to Chinese backed vehicles but I have to say the car was superb . I was very , very impressed . For the price , range and kit on offer it’s fantastic value .
You are very welcome, Neil - MG came back really quickly :) In regards to your point about how superb the car is, we couldn’t agree more, Neil! It’s amazing what you get for the money 😍 What trim would you go for? *A
@@PlanetautoUK Trophy connect . I’ve seen that some reviews don’t think having the connect services is worth the extra because of Apple Car Play and Android Auto but I think some of the live services and also having your car as a wi fi hotspot is great in some family situations . That’s what we tried on our test drive . I was very impressed with the clarity of the screen and it’s responsiveness . Plus I know there some really good EV’s out there but coming to electric for the first time this seems like a great choice . A Skoda Enyaq with all the features of the MG would be over £40,,000 .Really impressed with the car and electric smoothness too . God knows what Teslas and Porsche are like . 😁
great review again as always
Thank you John
Would you recommend this (but in Standard Range) or the HS Hybrid? (If money was no object)
Depends on where you primarily drive it, Motorways or A B roads?
@@PlanetautoUK motorways mainly, but a mixture as well
Well balanced, it seems.
In a word, aye, ta Bernard
Hiii....Mr quirk.... lots of love from India
Hello 😊 and Hello India, thank you,
I have a 30 kwhr leaf and have had it for 5 1/2 years.
The numbers of ev increasing is noticeable and does have an affect, however round here we’ve loads, we’ve loads with in 5 or so miles, the key is a wall box, maintenance updates, you’re spot on, thank you Steve
@@PlanetautoUK been over Cumbria, near ullswater and locked out of the Rhegged centre chargers before at the locked gate and had to go into Penrith to the ionity chargers. Ionity are great but at 45 p per kwhr, they are dearer to use than a 50 mpg diesel vehicle, even with diesel at £1.49 per litre, similar to all rapid chargers now, so where is the incentive to buy a long range EV ?
@@stevezodiac491 Booths have instavolt here, cheaper than the Benzo to fuel, win win, and simple to use, we use type 2 for free in Morecambe, bear in mind leci seriously has V increased, that can’t help
Hi can someone tell me if the MG ZS EV trophy voice control opens the sun roof? I don’t have the connect version also it would have been nice if the USB ports illuminated for easy access. Can I add for feedback the heated seats should have had variable temperature control as well.
We’d like to know this too, we’ll ask MG in the meanwhile
Nice EV !
Thank you Reddylion
I’m able to hear some sound when you are accelerating the car? Is that right?
What type of sound please Rocky?
@@PlanetautoUK at 3.53, after accelerating. Aeroplane like sound. Is it normal ?
Hi Rocky, yes that’s perfectly normal, its less noticeable the faster you get, it’s to alert pedestrians, it’s less sci if than some others.
++++++++++++++NICE++++++++++++++THANK YOU 4 THE REVIEW++++++++++++++
You are most welcome, Media Mike! Glad you liked it. *A
Im all for EVs but the charging infastucture is no where near good enough. All petrol stations.should have at least 2.
It’s far better than it used to be, but yes we’d say that’s an excellent idea, it’s strange places where you’d expect them especially type 2 none are to be found. Thank you Mark
Hi all so if someone is trying to get in it will I know.
Yes through the app, you can see where the vehicle is, thank you John
Thank you for your answer but I mean how do you know someone is trying to break in can I see them on my phone can you do a video so we all can see I have the mg long-range connect in red on order since November no sign yet.
We don’t have one on test currently, apologies, otherwise we would - the app shows various vehicle statuses, best bet check with MG, thank you John
Thank you for your time and videos I have seen the people I speak to have so many questions about the mg long-range trophy connect a question I get ask the most is are they cheaper to run then petrol.
You’re very welcome - we have a road trip coming on the SE and the 5 and yes it’s cheaper to run than petrol, especially home charging -
450 metres… what a range.
Range flower? That’s 270m
Sorry but did I just hear master chiefs voice as your navigation????????
That’s CLASSIFIED Spartan
mg5 or zs ev for taxi ?
Both good, but better suited MG5, thank you Damo
Love the channel by the way
Thank you for saying Adam 😊 which dubs do you own? We have a 3 door Valver with an ABF
Very nice indeed.
I have the mark 7.5 gti from 2017
Nice motors, we had the Mk8 Golf GTE last year, I’d love to drive a Clubsport
The Skoda Enyaq we have currently is a beast, AR HUD option as well 😆
Now I like those!!!!
Its “zap map”!
What is? Zappa mappa app, zappidy do dah
450 metres ? wow
M be mile
@@PlanetautoUK I took it to be metres too. I thought you might have missed the "k" and meant to write "km".
Perhaps adjust the title have the word "miles" to avoid confusion for countries that use metric measurements.
@@madmax1412 the shortest road trip known to man, Max😆 good point and will do
Way too complicated for a simple minded soul like me !
😆thank you for watching Richard
Still not proper MG
it's cheap shit....
And no dealerships near me
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole,,,, swooped my my mg6 for a vw golf
Never looked back
And bearing in mind this is a vw /audi man,,,,, nothing has been bettered
Your MG6 is archaic compared to this latest range of models, early Golfs are the proper motors VAG
You are overrating this brand.
It has no place on roads in 2022.
Lets stay premium in the UK.
Let's stick to vw golf, the fiesta etc
Normandy garage in Guildford stopped selling MG because then didn't sell.
They will always be shite
They’ve just outsold Mazda
You are aware of SAIC Volkswagen aren’t you? Recognise some of the VWG parts?
Unlucky considering the latest SMMT stats 😬
You can't beat a classic either way
