Margaret, I love your videos! You have got me off the couch and back walking this winter. I plan to start using your videos for making up an exercise routine for myself and sticking to it. Thank you so much!
This is a great video! Is this something you would do every day/multiple times a day/ or every other day if looking to start building strong stabilization for kneecaps?
Margaret, I don't know if you can answer, but I fractured my patella of my left leg 2 years ago (May 2020). I never stopped limping and being in pain. 3 months ago, I fell on cobblestones and fractured my right patella. I was sent to hospital and short term "rehab" where they did no exercises. I got home care which I will be discharged from. The Pain in my joints/knees is excruciating. I don't know how to express to caretakers/ therapists/doctors how bad it is. I have a big fear that I won't be able to do anything in my life anymore because I can't move without pain. My ROM isn't bad, that isn't the problem. Everyone thinks if my ROM is ok, I shouldn't be having pain and I feel like they think this is iin my '"Head". I start OP PT in three weeks but I have nobody inbetween. I have no idea how good the OP PT will be- my insurance is limited. Before all of this happened I traveled, did things, now I can't walk three blocks without intense pain. I don't know what to do or who to turn to. I am going to make an appointment with a pain clinic, but I did that last time and they only offer steroid shots which didn't help the first time. I have diabetes and am not fond of taking shots because it raises blood sugar but I will call them. I just feel overwhelmed, stressed and scared. Ps. I don't' have door frames like that, or things that are supports that you have in your video. I live in a tiny apartment. I also have a lot of pain in my hip because of scoliosis so exercises can really hurt by hip, like the one you show, even with no door or trying to get as much support as possible.
I also don't have the same type of door frames, etc. I use my washing machine and table in my kitchen or the computer table in the living room, which is also the bedroom, speaking of tiny apartments.... Sometimes I use a door knob for support. When you do have PT appointments, one thing to keep in mind is to try to ask them about exercises you can continue with at home with no equipment after the PT is finished. That's all I can suggest. You have to keep asking for second opinions and telling new doctors your story sometimes. I also had a fall and I didn't fracture anything, but apparently I damaged the cartilage. It's incredibly slow to heal knees. I didn't think it would recover. I couldn't go up or down steps or inclines at all, not even a slight hill. But it's basically recovered now. I feel so bad for you, but don't lose hope.
