Hey Pete, Bob from British Columbia wish you and all the other River Kings all the best have a great Christmas followed by a great new Years. Take care God Bless.
I'm a huge GoPro fan and owner of up to 10 GoPros. But, a few months ago, I picked up the Insta360 X4. Amazing 360 camera, much better than the Max I use to own. The 8k video is awesome where you can pull high rez stills from the video. I recently used it on some Royal Gorge laps and pulled some amazing video. I try to use a stick attached to my rear grab bar. I also use it when working on flat water freestyle in my local lake. I use a thick foam pad with a weighted Nalgene bottle anchoring the pad, and affix my 360 to a tripod secured to the foam. Because it's 360, I can track myself on cartwheels, stalls, etc. I also recommend getting the "glass" lens cover rather than the stock ones. And, if you don't have a aluminum cage for your unit, get on. Also, you don't have to use it in teh "small world" mode. I generally convert it to a more (what's the term) Super wide angle POV. Too bad I can't post one of my favorite Insta360 X4 image on the gorge.
Thanks Dejan! I do have the cage for sure!! I used this test footage for a variety of explorations in editing. The tiny world was fun. I also used the same footage in several other test videos where I did not use the tiny world. There is a lot you can do with it! Thanks for the tips!
@@RiverKingsKayak Honestly, the best perspective is from your stern. I have a Insta360 clamp (it's bomber) plus a few different sticks. The Insta360 stick snapped at the base while on Wallslammer in teh Royal Gorge a few weeks ago. I found some more bomber sticks. The perspective is to kill for. I attach the clamp to the rear handhold where it's very secure yet still provides a grip to those needing rescuing. Also, Insta sells two different remotes. Getting a remote saves battery and chip life and space. Connectivity is quick and easy. It also saves time and frustration turning the camera on and off. The Camera power button is a pain t find and power on / off.
I got a insta360x4 too. 😊 Unfortunately its winter here can't wait to try my kayak. Takes a while to learn the edit process. The tiny planet has some cool effects. Now try the mega wide angle.
I usually dislike watching 360 vids, but that “worldly” perspective was pretty freakin’ cool.
Thanks kwright!

Thanks Wayne! It will be nice to capture some crazy big water action and some stunning views if I was ever in such a place like a big canyon...
