The simplest and quickest way to make run the Mavic Air in FCC mod, no matter where your location is!
Follow these few simple steps on Android device:
1. Download and install the Fake GPS app - bit.ly/2osNcnV
2. Enable Developer options on your device - go to Settings - about - Build number and tap 7 times on the build number
3. Go to Developer options. Find "Mock Locations" or "Select Mock Location app" and choose FakeGPS.
4. Open Fake GPS app. Choose a location in the USA. Tap "Start".
5. Turn the drone and the transmitter on
6. Connect to the transmitter as usual and Open the DJI Go 4 app.
7. It will ask you to switch WiFi settings. Choose "YES"! The transmitter will restart.
8. Once the restart is completed, go to Settings - Wifi in the DJI Go 4 app and make sure you see 11 bands on 2.4GHz. If you see 13, you are still in CE mode. Go back to the previous steps and find out what you did wrong.
9. Stop the Fake GPS app. you no longer need it.
10. Enjoy and FLY RESPONSIBLY!
Note: Once you switch to FCC and you stop the Fake GPS app, the DJI Go 4 will ask you to switch WLAN settings every time before flying. Always choose "No", as otherwise it will return the settings to CE mode.

what about for iPhone ?
Here's a quote from the pinned comment:
|I can confirm that on iOS, you can change your phone's location if debugging an app with Xcode and simulate location. Be sure that network debugging is on so that you debug the app (whatever the app is, doesn't matter, a new clean project is fine too) wirelessly so that you can use USB to attach to the Mavic's remote. This is not for everyone, I know, but maybe it helps someone. I've successfully switched to FCC and my range extended dramatically.
Wow..u did it again with Mavic Air from CE to FCC without modd app. Your explanation is crystal clear and easily understood.
I just like it although i don't have the Mavic Air yet.I still have my Sparky with me..so i m jealous...
very helpfull tips , thanks.
Update :
I've tried this tips with my mavic, and wohooo... it worked. In high population city with lots of interference warning, my mavic air only can fly 38m away from home point (CE mode), after trying this, it flew 268m away from homepoint before it lost signal. So Great !
Looks awesome
This is awesome!! It works, and i don't need any kind of hack. I live in CE area, and 200 - 300 meters are more than enough for me. But sometimes i loose signal way too early which initiates RTH. Having all the extra power to stay in control is a nice feeling.
I can confirm that this works even across devices, once it's "saved" to the controller on Android you can switch to iOS and it'll ask the same question. However, once I accidentally hit "ok" on Android while in the field (thus going back to CE mode) and the Fake GPS app just wouldn't work. Once I went back home, it worked again. I *think* that if DJI Go receives GPS data from the aircraft, it's going to override the GPS from the phone, therefore staying in CE mode if you're in Europe.

Thanks a LOT! Awesome to have info for iOS!
Do you know of any working "Fake GPS" for iOS?
Steve Nilsen ua-cam.com/video/rwt-Jvh9gyc/v-deo.html
Good luck! This method will work only 7 days, BUT there is a paid method too(1 year subscription €50 euros 💶)
But you can do free method as much us you like by deleting and reinstalling)
But in my case I’m fed up to reinstalling app, I’ve contacted to the guy “ddzobov” 🇷🇺 and He helped me to install paid version of DJI GO.
did not get if i have to do so every time i use the drone or once and fine.
After you switched to FCC mode with an Android phone first, you can then use an iPad instead. No problems, it stays on FCC.
OH. MY. WORD! This hack is fantastic. So I have a DJI Spark, since January, and have flown it around the globe, managing a decent 500m, then some interference, not great, but decent. So I used this android hack, on the wife’s phone, and took the Spark out yesterday. The drone flew well over 1KM, without a single issue in range, or feed, I love this hack. If you action the hack on an android, then fly on iOS, it still works! 👍🏼 thank you
Hey Kick Nay, thank you so much for this positive attitude and for taking the time to share your feedback.
I am still flying a lot with this mod and it truly gives a new life to these sweethearts :-)
P.S. you may like the biggest Spark group online - TheSparkSide (facebook)
Thanks buddy!!! It's still working!
Great explanations. I use both my Android phone and my iPAD. I've been happy to see that when I now plugged in the iPAD, it's still in FCC mode! So the remote is the key to all!
Thanks again!
Hey man! Thanks for the tutorial. 1 questions only... might be silly, but here it goes: Does the procedure interfere with the Return Home function or other apps like waze/google maps? Thank you!
It doesn't. Luckily the Drone has its own GPS and it is the one used for RTH.
Many, many thanks! If I only knew that it was SO easy. I thought it involved faking the location every time again, but it's simply switching the remote into FCC and not allowing it to switch back. It's so easy, one could think DJI has got a solution against it, but they probably don't care, not their responsibility anymore. I didn't fly yet, just switched, but I'm excited to see the results. I don't need kilometers of range, but if I get 300m without disturbances in the video feed, I'm already happy.
I am very happy that it works for you! And indeed - it takes only a couple of minutes;
DJI have more or less no choice - if they don't respect regulations, they are about to be in a serious trouble. Good that they still keep the backdoor unlocked 😇
Before, the Air even loses connection whiles the drone is even in my palm. Now, it maintains connection even if it's headed to Mars. Thanks for the FCC mode and you.
Shit man. I'm about to buy this now. Is it still worth buying in 2020? Or shall I buy the new mavic mini? I live in the UK and new mavic mini even though its much. Cheaper, it cannot be changed from ce to fcc becauss it's hardware coded
you can use the RTH? or no?
You can, of course. The trick is applied to the controller, and RTH is driven by the drone's GPS.
Guess time for me to take off and get a drone-meeting on Mars then! 😇
Still a good choice. Interesting to see what DJI will announce in the next days though.
The Mini is also good, just doesn't support 4K video and good photo controls.
Hi tech4all,
In CE mode my Spark would fly close to 350m, and that is with glitches and video losses. After FCC mod, my personal best record yesterday was 2235m without any video glitches. Decided to trigger RTH as the battery level has reached 45%. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good effort!
cheguazam , I am so glad you share this result! Awesome! I haven't done any range tests on the Mavic air, because the terrain around where I live is not suitable and the weather is anyways quite bad :-) But the CE mode of the mavic Air is as restrictive as the one on the Spark. I barely felt any difference.
Hi. I just bought a mini 3 pro with a smart controller. Anybody know how to get this in fcc mode??
I just have one question. In case if my drone will loose the signal while operating in FCC mode, is it going to return home or will fly away across the ocean? Thanks )))
nope, once fake gps stopped, drone will acquire current gps position :)
@@krismurphy7822 good question
But how to sto
Sorry but how to stop
It worked really well! Earlier I got like 400m in 2.5Ghz near city limits. Now I easily get around 800m+ from the same location (y)
Mmmm, sounds great!
Thank you so much. Hack works well even on iPhone. The trick is to use any android device, follow the steps to trick the transmitter hence switch to fcc then use your everyday iPhone for the drone and press cancel at every launch of dji app. In my case the gain seems good enough although I d say still far from my magic pro (ce). Thank you again.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Piero. Yeah, the transmission is not as stable as Mavic Pro due to the difference in the wireless communication, but definitely way better than CE mode.
It works thanks ....my only concern is about the return home function. .
No need to be concerned about that - it is based on the GPS inside the drone and the function will work just fine.
No, will not fall in the ocean. The Fake GPS is needed only to fake the DJI Go about the location in order to switch to FCC mode. Once the aircrafts GPS aquires satelits, will know the exact location.
Yes, the Return to Home function works perfectly as it knows the exact location when flying.
Yes, it works with the latest DJI Go version so far. You have the option to stay with the FCC version pressing the Cancel button when starting the application.
Yes, the FCC mode indeed increases the range a lot. In CE mode my Air started to loose the connection with the remote at about 800 meters and never reached 1200 meters. In FCC mode I had to return home from 3300 meters because of the battery, the air temperature was only 1 grade celsius.
Man, thank YOU! I get these questions so often. Let me pit this one.
Wow, your channel exploded since the last time i was on here. Congrats and good luck further on 😊
Thank you so much for your information , it's made a huge difference to my drone , now I see how those American s get so far without the problems we have . Just flown mine for the first time in FCC and wow !
It is an awesome feeling indeed 😎😎😎
@@TechMishka yeah " when I was trying it ,I thought it's so much stronger signal and it went to 2.4 gz and it was just a quick flight , but I'll have a do this weekend 👍🇬🇧
Very useful, thank you. Yesterday I lost signal at 700 m, today Ill test it again. Should I chose one of 0-11 channels or 149+?
Depends on the area where you are flying at. I usually fly in the 5.8Ghz range, but for some people 2.4 feels better - these radio signals depend on altitude, surrounding buildings, area positioning and plenty of others - so the best thing to do is to try a few different modes.
But once you get into FCC you will likely not need any adjustments :-)
Sick video, very easy to do how you explained, once you confirm it's on FCC in the wifi menu, do you turn fake gps off? Just wondering as the onboard map was showing me in USA still??
Perhaps I forgot to mention that we should stop the fake GPS app - once FCC is on, you no longer need it.
@@TechMishka thank you , your video was definitely the easiest to get it working
OK
New subscriber here. Sorry if this has already been asked, but once you're in FCC mode, can you use the map while flying so you know where your drone is? Do you turn the Fake GPS off once you're in FCC mode? Thanks.
Questions here are always welcome!
After you are in FCC mode, you can uninstall the app - it is no longer needed. ANd it is only used to trick the transmitter - the drone and its GPS work as normal and everything continues as normal. RTH also works without change.
Yes lots of people posting this mod which is very good info but DJI have stopped this trick from working in the latest version of the App, I am running Android version 4.3.0, it lets you switch to FCC mode when you run fake GPS app but the minute you stop running the fake location it defaults back to CE mode without asking you. Is there a version of 4.3.0 that has this limit taken out? how recent is the hacked version in the facebook group? and can I install both versions of the app on 1 device? Thanks for sharing.
THere is a way to have two versions of the app if your smartphone supports it. But there is nothing wrong staying at slightly older version - I don't think there will be many new features arriving in the new versions. Haven't tried the mentioned by you version yet so I can't say if it reverts back to CE on my end too.
Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks!! Thinking of doing it, specialy after loosing signal for the first time. Since is revertible, depending on location of your flight you can decide wether to use it or not. I Live in Brazil.
Deu certo amigão? Estou considerando, só com um pouco de receio... hahahaha
Só agora vi seu comentário. Deu certo sim, sem problemas.
This does not work anymore (today is Sept 2023).. Could anyone be of help how to enable fcc now?
Sorry to hear :( I wish I still had the drone to figure it out
Hi friend, thank you very much for the tutorial. just one question ! What happens if I need to return to the home point automatically? my location is different from fake gps, where will the drone go back ?? Thank you so much from Brazil.
Warm greetings to Brazil! :-)
The return to home function will remain unaffected. When you enable the fake GPS app, it tells the transmitter "Hey, we are in USA, so let's switch to FCC mode". It doesn't directly talk to the drone. The return to home function is based on the GPS that is embedded on the drone itself, so it won't fly away :-) As you can see I have tested DJI spark in FCC mode while I am in Europe and it returned home safe and sound :-)
Thank you so much for answering! when I turned on the drone I noticed that on the application screen where my current location appears in that small image where it is possible to click and enlarge it and see my location, my home point was in USA, so I did not fly because I was in doubt. Do I have to leave the fake gps active ??
Oh, please disable the Fake GPS before flight. You only need it to turn the transmitter in FCC mode and after that just remove it :-) Maybe that's why the map was showing a weird location.
just to simplify everything, FCC is for USA and CE is for europeans... FCC has longer wifi range due to USA laws and CE has shorter range due to europeans law, now with the rest of the world, they're neither FCC or CE.. I was surprised that DJI automatically downgrade the range to CE even though you are not in europe... boooh to DJI!
Guess they are playing it safe in order to avoid any bans or import restrictions. Thank you a lot for the great summary!
@Josh Luke of couse fccs....better view better range....and it also improve evething....tq
You're a legend with this video! There are people talking that the latest DJI update for the original Mavic Air blocks the ability to do this CE to FCC hack. Do you know anything about this? And if it's true, can you just not do the prompted update?
Hey Tom, that's bad news, and would be quite a nasty move from DJI side... I no longer have the mavic Air around and cannot confirm or deny...
@@TechMishka thanks for the timely response. I'm pretty sure it's true. I'm hearing it about the mini and Mavic Air 2 but it isn't as serious with the 2 because the range is already so good....but still.
Does this work as of 14/12/2019? As I’ve just tried and it says it is changing location and just says ok, it doesn’t give me a cancel option
You may try an older version of the app.
It works for me 27/12/2019 I can just cancel and I'm using the latest version app and drone software
Same happens to me.
Hi, first thanks for the super clear video. I didn't even need to take notes, so clear and straight forward it is. My procedure failed because I did not have the "cancel" botton. as soon as I reconnected the phone to the controller with "normal" GPS - it told me it changes settings to the local ones, and allowed me only to OK it...
Hey Alon, thanks for the feedback and glad it was easy.
Unfortunately the recent versions of the DJI GO4 app are getting tougher to beat. You may try to run something older and see if it will work.
Hi Techforall, thanks for a great app ,just done the mod and it works great with my new spark with the latest firmware ,v.4.3.8 now I can get more range hooray.thanks again,it also works with or withought the otg cable.
Excellent news! :-) And one more well working DJI drone :-) Hurray!
well done thank you, tried it and it worked went beyond all my flights
I am also using it every single time I fly the M. Air :-)
Thanks you for your help ! Here in Israel also it's like Europe !
For iOS you can once opening in a android smartphone ( from you friend) and after you go back to you iOS and you say "no" to change the wlan
Soon I will try if this worked!
My top distance is 1,531m which as I can see is calculated during one flight. I estimate that my furthest travel in one go was ~500m. Not a meter more. Ain't bad, ain't good. A lot of disconnects and loss of signal happnening in Lithuania.. probably because there is wifi around every corner.
As for altitude I reached max available (so 500m I am guessing?)
Top speed only 69km/h.
Gonna test FCC stuff when it is not as windy as today... :P
Good luck and be careful! 😊
may like sound stupid, but.... thanks again! Got a new phone and forgot about all that, stumbled over here, again :) So, thnks, again :) :) Cheers ;)
Glad I could help!
Mavic Air 2 here, best CE distance was 1.5km so far. I started noticing weak signal so I'm not quite certain what's causing this or what's interfering but I believe I can get it further.
I never tried to push it that far, but 1.3 was something I got and it was pretty stable. It very much depends on the area.
I have a question. Once this is done will the GPS on the DJI app show the location you are actually flying in or will it stay in the USA? I'm hoping this works with the new air 2 I've ordered
The RTH function is based on the GPS inside the drone. So no worries.
The Mavic Air 2 doesn't really need it - you will have occusync which is having less drops.
Thanks for the video! Just a question, after you trick the transmitter and switch Fake GPS off, will the on-board GPS on the aircraft still work or will it also think it's in the US rather than your actual location (hence rendering GPS useless on the drone)?
The GPS in the drone will continue operation as normnal - it is independent from the transmitter's setting. So there will be no "flyaway".
@@TechMishka "Returning to home, Distance=1092,036km"
@@NubeBusterset it to 40km
Hey there :-) Got a stupid question: I'm from the EU and in the EU :-) I did the manipulation a few month ago with the SPARK... and, THNKS for that it worked.. BUT..... I made a RETURN TO HOME.... and I nearly got a heart attack when the screen showed me: BACK TO HOME POINT IN 6500 KM !!!!!! I guess I forgot to turn of Fake GPS? :-) Asking, cause I just got my new toy MAVIC AIR :-) Thnks again for your vid ;-)
This should have been the reason, yes. Luckily the RTH function is based on the drone's GPS, and not on the one in your phone 😇 It won't fly overseas.
It worked on both my spark and mavic air. Thanks again for an awesome video and very clear explanation. Keep up the good work ;)
Great to hear!
Hi dear and thanks for this great video. I would like to ask if is it normal for my Phantom 3SE to be "stuck" on 5G frequency and no possibility to change in 2.4G after restarting. My App tells me that the change will be effective ater restarting, but in the end I'm still on 5G. (I see 11 channels in 2.4G tho). Thank you.
Hi mate, I don't think this is quite normal. But I have no longer 3SE around to test that out.
Overall 5G is perhaps the better way to go, as it will have much less interference.
@@TechMishka thanks for your answer, and keep doing these awesome videos 💪
Hello!first of all thank you for the clear instuctions but still I have some questions as a noob...
I followed every step and got it working as you said, BUT the area I'm in is apparently a no fly zone, so if I turn on the app I can fly but I have no navigation except for the old school visual methods;
1. if I fly with the fake gps on and hit RTH will my drone attempt to fly halfway around the world?
2. will there be a flight path visible?
the area I want to fly in is a national park near the city half of it is free to fly but the other half is obstructed by the circular area which surrounds the city, so I think I can fly low and cause no one any trouble therefore; ( if the first two questions are negative which I suspect they are)
3.how can I achieve proper gps tracking and fly in the park?
Sorry, if the answers are already sctattered below I though this might be a bit specific
Hi Eddy, thanks a lot for asking these question, let me try to help:
1. No, luckily not. I cannot afford risking the "life" of mine, cause it is a very serious investment :-) The hack only tricks the transmitter about the localization. The actual RTH is navigated by the GPS that is in the drone itself - so that operation is not impacted.
2. Sure, everything works as if you are not in FCC mode
3. Just fly as you always do.
If right now the mentioned park is a no-fly zone, it is not because of the FCC mode, but because of an update of the DJI Go app. No fly zones are getting more, and stricter, unfortunately...
tech4all Allright, thanks a lot for the swift reply, its all clear now! I'll simply get away from the city and enjoy the range now :)
Does this still work? Thinkong of buying a Mavic Air (Sweden)
Yeah, still works fine.
@@TechMishka thats great
Hi man, unfortunately after so many tries it doesn't worked for me on September 2021. Tried with fake GPS, tried to go with the drone (Mavic Air) to a location without GPS signal, it sees on the map that I am in the US but it didn't prompt me the message with changing the WLan settings.... Not at all. Still 13 channels and not 11. This it's my first time trying all that now with firmware up to date... Could be that Dji "fixed" that with the latest updates?! Please perhaps you can provide a solution. Greetings!
Hey mate, so sorry to hear that.
You may check some facebook groups - like TheSParkSide.
@@TechMishka thanks for the tip
Hi my friend very nice video thanks but one question can you do this with the Maverick mini I'm coming from Spain thanks
Jantje Safari I don't plan to review the Mini; From what I see online - it is a wonderful drone! But the lack of 4K and control of the shooting are making me wait.
Cool !
does the RTH still work in FCC mode?
Yes, it does. THe RTH is based on the drone's GPS, so the aircraft will not fly away.
Hi, excellent tutorial!! I'm in Australia. My Mavic Air showed 11 channels at 2.4 GHz before I did the hack - which suggests FCC mode already, and 11 channels at 2.4 GHz after I did the hack using Fake GPS (so still in FCC). However, my problem is I can't select 5.8 GHz when I change from 'Auto' to 'custom'. DJI Go4app version is 4.3.37 - what am I doing wrong? Many thanks.
Hey mate, thanks for the question. Quite weird that 5ghz cannot be selected. But the 2.4 range is anyways better - so if the range is now stable enough - just use it as it is.
is this tutorial still affect the same now in mavic air. no change wlan settings pop up after fake gps running
Many people say that it may not work now; I no longer have the drone around.
I'm in Germany and I want to switch from CE to FCC. Does the trick shown by you still work (as of today)?
I believe it may not work anymore with the latest firmware. The drone is no longer with me and I cannot confirm.
I put the fake gps in USA ( new york city) and i accidentally hit the return to home button. My mavic pro flew all the way from london do new york and landed in central park xD
Got amazing footage nonetheless
Sounds like amazing battery life.
Hahaha
Hahhahahahhahaha....but luckily ...you didn’t hit anything , right??..hahahhahahha that’s cool
This is what scared me. Is there anything we can do to avoid rth all the way to newyork?
I can confirm that this process worked, however, everytime i switch off my spark and close the dji app,it will revert back to EC mode which is the 13 channels, any help?thanks
Oh, I have seen this kind of behavior with other devices as well. You may try an older version of the app. Or - you can check the TSS Facebook group - search for TheSparkSide.
This guy deserves at least 100k
This guy says a "HUGE THANKS" to you :-) And hope that it will happen eventually one day.
THANK's for your Great Video! ....i just bought a new "Mavic 2 Pro" and i want to ask for a cheaper way of doing FPV! The DJI Goggles RE cost 500 EUR , so it would be great , to find a better solution. Could you help?
Not really :( Not aware which googles are compatible with it.
That was great however if your air gets lost when using this work around and you are on the refresh gji scheme I doubt they will pay out. Just a thought.
I don't remember having seen any logs about FCC/CE mode in the log files they usually ask for. Therefore I believe there will be no issues with taking advantage of the refresh program.
For people with the Mavic Mini: The dji fly app switches back automaticaly when you turn off the fake gps app. You can't cancel it.
Yeah, unfortunately...
One nice thing I noticed recently is that there finally is the option to unlock zones.
Hello Myke! The FCC mode will unlock the maximum 500 meters altitude on Mavic Air?
It will not. This limitation is applied on every DJI drone so far.
thank you!
513th like my friend, first attempt gone success, tomorrow I will try new setting on my mavic air in Budapest because I had 300m range and signal lost.... thank again
Most welcome and good luck!
Will this work on Mavic 2 Zoom? Thanks for the amazing video
Hi Bernardo. Yes, it will. But why would you need it? I saw a few range tests that show video footage passing beyong 5KM away from the transmitter.
@@TechMishka I also saw people complaining about the range for CE. But in general people are very satisfied. Thanks for the answer
@@bpestanabastos The CE range is indeed sometimes limited, but probably not that limited on the Pro-versions. Occusync is a technology which has no consistency checks and even with not too great quality of the signal it should be able to nicely pass real-time footage.
Have a lot of fun flying it! :-)
@@TechMishka Mavic 1 and Mavic 2 use Occusync. There is no way you can check on the RC if you are in FCC Mode, so I guess your answer is wrong.
Hey there I want to ask if I do this hack. Does it remove my ability to check my actual flight path. Cuz I live in a really dense city and I lose the sight of drone once I take off. And I rely on my gps track on the dji app map to guide my drone back. Nice video btw
The RTH feature is based on the GPS inside the drone itself.
So this won't interefere with RTH GPS location ?
It will not.
Did this since my drone had a "good" signal for about 100 meters (mavic air) in a sub-urban area (buildings but a huge park, I fly at 5AM to practice since it's 2 mins away, when noone is around) and the only obstacles are trees. After 100m I'm getting video feed loss etc, both on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Will report back with what I got on the same spot.
It will surely improve it. But 100m-loss sounds like either bad reception and something wrong with the drone's transmission, or maybe too many interfering signals.
Will this work with mavic air 2
Not sure. The app is different; Guess with Occusync you won't really need it.
@@TechMishka in uk pal tried last night doesnt work and range definantly decreased struggled to get over 2000km but was in built up area no warning of low signal either like the old mavic pro with quality drop it just goes then drone starts to return to home then you pick up signal again
Thank you very much. My Air gets the "weak signal" popup at 100 meters. Will try to switch to FCC mode and also change to 2.4Ghz. Would be awesome if it reached 500m, else I need to move around too much to capture everything in 1 location.
Thank you for sharing this Awesome information.
I bought my mavic air a few days ago before learning about the CE mode restrictions.
I don't fly long distances but its reassuring to know that I now have a stronger signal.
Thanks again & it was very easy to do.
Good luck Sir.
Thanks a lot Alan! I am running it in FCC mode because of the very same reasons - hate seeing the signal indication going red after 200-300 meters...
Happy flying! :-)
Hey! This is in Bulgaria. You are bulgarian??
Yeah, it is Bulgaria indeed. Born and raised here.
Will this trick also work on the mavic mini?
Sort of - you can use the Fake GPS app but you will have to keep it on during the flight. As soon as you close it, the controller goes back to CE mode.
@@TechMishka Zo the map wont work then?
hi iam just wondering if you change from ce mode to fcc mode can u use a ios phone or are u stuck with the android phone you used
Yes - you can use an iPhone and it will work fine. You will have to hit the "cancel" on the "switch wifi settings" prompt every time you see it, exactly like it is with Android.
Your presentation is awesome ……..new subscriber from India I have Mavic Air
Yoo, thanks mate. Happy flying and warmest regards to India!
hiii, menn you are fantastible, amazing, thank you soo much..ok let me explain, I had FCC on my Sparky..till this morning..for a whole day I couldn't fix it back to FCC,,Till now.and.i like your videos :]
Fantastible!!! I love that! 😎😇
Since this tutorial is quite old - maybe a good idea to also recommend checking in Facebook the group "TheSparkSide" - although dedicated to DJI Spark, it has a lot of good info about Mavic Air.
P.S. Glad to see the "hack" still works
@@TechMishka ..ok, i will..thank, have a great weekend :)
Thanks a lot from Spain! works grate on my mavic air!!!! good job!
I am so so happy this little trick helps people! Much appreciated that you stopped by. Happy flying! :-)
thanks man, very helpful... greeting from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
He Hey! :-) Most welcome. I believe you have the FCC mode by default? Or not really?
We don't have FCC mode as default, we did need Fake GPS to do it... But until now i didn't get satisfaying image transmission, its keep lagging. Not sure why?
@@ArtmorProduction Hm, reasons could be many. What kind of smartphone do you use?
I am using Huawei P9,
I've been trying using FCC mode in 2.4Gb and 5.8Gb. at 2.4 Gb there's glitching when distance reach 300m... But not disconnected the image transmission does lagging. At 5.8Gb the lagging start at 400m, and did disconnect at 700m. The 2.4Gb success at 1000m without disconnect, but Video Feed got Lagging.
Any suggestion on my setting?
@@ArtmorProduction At 1000 m lagging is normal if it is within less than a second. If it is more - not sure what the reason may be. Try switching to different channels to see if that makes any difference.
3666m ;-) but ran out of battery, so I had to return .. made a video about on my channel ;-) could have gone further I think
That is ... HUGE! :-) Wow!
Have you thought about pushing it to the limits and landing somewhere else, not at the home place? Havng this kind of plans in mu head lately
Yes, this has crossed my mind. Could be a fun experiment
A bit dangerous too :D
@@TechMishka What would happen if you do that, reach 5000 m, land it safely at 20% battery, then sit in car to find it and lose connection to drone while driving? Will it start RTH (probbably its last flight)? I saw youtuber who lost his drone that way...
@@79boka If you land safely, the flight data will be recorded to your phone and you will be able to go to the exact location with the hope you will be the first there 🤓 Even if RTH is activated, there is no way to cross 5000m with 20% battery, so it will perform emergency landing.
in most countries you anyways have to keep the drone within sight.
How do you switch to 5.8 ? what is it recommanded for ( less frequencies commonly used, better range) ?
I switch to 5.8 from the DJI GO 4 app. Just navigate to the wifi settings and choose a custom frequency. I prefer 5.8 because it has less interference, especially in urban areas.
Is it okay to exit mock location /disable developer mode after doing this? Thanks!
Also, is it safe to turn on the Location?
Yes, both are fine.
I havnt updated my mavic air since i chanced to fcc in february.
Can i still update as normal and does the fcc mode work in europe nowdays or have updates blocked it?
Thanks :)
I no longer have the drone - gave it to a friend a few weeks ago and cannot confirm. Generally I belong to these people that never update unless I am forced to 🤩
Does it matter if I downloaded other app ? Like other fake gps app in play store ??
It should work too.
Working great on the Spark! thanks
Lovely! Enjoy your flights with better range.
Hello, thank you for your video. I made the manipulation without any problem. But now, when i click on "RTH" to
fix take-off gps coordinates, i get the message "home point setting failed" . Any idea ? thank you !
Hm, haven't seen that before. Did you close the fake GPS app before taking off?
Hi is it still able to enable fcc mode in mavic air? fake gps doesnt work now
I no longer have the drone around...
Its crazy to think that when in CE mode the max distance advertised by DJI is only 2000m in perfect condition but FCC mode is 4000m in the same condition... with spoofing the gps wont this take away gps map functioanlity due to the maps thining we are in another country or doe it just spoof the controller rather than out phones gps?
It is not crazy, but logical - based on the maximum allowed radio transmission power in different regions.
Spoofing the GPS is happening on the phone, not the drone; So RTH works fine.
Hello sir!.Im so insecure about my drone. But ill try this later. Will i put the drone on wifi mode or rc mode?.Im using mavic pro. Thanks
If you have the Mavic Pro, why would you try FCC mode? The Pro has quite a great range, no matter where you live :-)
I live outside the us and somehow my drone disconnects at about 600 meters. Will i put the mavic pro on wifi mode or rc mode?
Never owned the Pro, but it sounds like you need it to be at RC mode. None of my friends with Pro have complained of such short range. Weird ....
Thanks
Great info and awesome you got the Air
Hey Donnie, thanks a lot! Drone brothers now too! Saw your video of the clouds this morning, awesome scenery.
tech4all thanks so much brother
Does this hack still works with latest DJI Go 4?
I've tried to do this with my Mavic Air. The map (in the app and in Google Maps) showed NYC, but the app itself never suggested WIFI settings switch nor 5Ghz configuration.
Try to wait for a few minutes - it still works and I still use it.
@@TechMishka It actually works indeed. I had to disable location "help" from WIFI and Bluetooth. (using Samsung S10)
Hello, can you please tell me if I can activate phone's GPS while I am running my spark on fcc mode?
Sure.
Is there any possible way to do this for Mavic Mini? I've tried that and nothing's happen/changed.
Don't have the Mini around - but in some facebook groups I've seen people reporting that with similar approach it worked.
The best explanation!!!
I have one concern? how bout the RTH? it will affect? DJI SPARK USER
The RTH is based on the GPS inside the drone itself. So it won't.
@@TechMishka THANK YOU..
does this not effect your home point?
No, not at all. The GPS on the phone is responsible for the geolocation of the transmitter. The Drone relies on its own GPS.
Hi can I do the same thing with my phantom 3 standard. Thanks in advance.
Yeah, you can. But the range of the standard should be good enough even without it.
Does this procedure work on my Phantom 4? Would like to fly it on FCC too..
I have not tried that on Phantom 4, but there is no reason not to.. You may try and confirm, and I will update the notes in the description accordingly :-)
when in europe and have the fcc mode will it still show you the map that the drone took off ?
Yeah - it works as normal. The drone has its own GPS and you can't trick that one. RTH works fine too.
@@TechMishka thanks for the help!!!!
@@AlexK611 Most welcome, mate!
What should I do with mavic pro ( I’ve done such operations , but there is no menu which turns on the fcc mode )
Fake gps is working ( a am in US in google maps)
THe procedure is the same with the Pro. But it has occusync - why do you need to go to FCC?
Please tell me what will happen before switching the fake gps off again ..what the positions at the controller map i will see ..and what is about the RTH POINT and the map
Hi Hasham, the only negative side of the fake gps will be how your phone treats the location. The drone uses its own gps module to locate coordinates. It will disturb google maps, for example :D But your RTH and take off locations will be fine. Overall it is better to switch it off, because it unnecessarily confuses your smartphone.
Im switching fake position on floater, but it wouldnt ask me for WLAN correction.. So for some reason it doesnt work on my phone. Any help? I have a Xiaomi phone
It's getting trickier with newer firmwares, sadly...
Great tutorial! Worked out great!
Thank you so much for the comment, David! Happy flying 😇😎
Say I lose connection to the drone and need to rth. Will this affect my home point?
No, it will work as normal; The transmitter's setting is based on your phone's location and sets the transmission power. The Drone's GPS works as normal and this config change has no impact on it.
Tech4All thanks!
Question: can you still use the return to home button with this on?
Sure! The RTH is independent from the Transmitter settings - it is bound to the GPS inside the drone.
