The Non-Canon Expert looks at whether Darth Vader was able to understand that it was specifically Leia who was Luke's sister, and of course therefore his daughter, when he was able to sense Luke's thoughts during their final confrontation in Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.
This is a Legends story for Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker with information found within the Legends novels "Star Wars: Death Star," "Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader," "Star Wars: The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi," and the Episode 6: Return of the Jedi novelization. I hope that you enjoy it!

You have a sister...yes, if you don’t turn to the dark side, perhaps she wil-OH GOD YOU KISSED HER, SON WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!
Haha
Gameguy 1128 I didn’t know Dad! We were separated at birth!
Haha nice one!
Your feelings betray you.. about your... sister... Wait a minute... YOU THOUGHT WHAT ABOUT YOUR SISTER
Lord Manhammer - The older you get, the less age matters (among married couples).
Vader: You have a twin sister..........i have a daughter too......that is wonderful i must tell everyone!!!!!
This always makes me laugh so much 😂
I see we have a how it should have ended fan.....
Luke: DAD!!! It’s Leia...
Vader: Oh? Ooooooh... shit.
Luke: Didn’t you torture her... blow up her adoptive family and entire planet... and the tortured her boyfriend and sell him off as a wall ornament.
Palpatine in the background: *laughs hysterically *
Darth Vader: I have a daughter. I have to tell everyone. Hey, Royal Guards, I have a daughter...
Palpatine: Look at what you have done (At Luke)
Vader be like: Hmmmm, looks like Padme. But she could be just another handmaiden.
What in Earth is handmaiden?
Jordi Studios A Naboo Queen’s bodyguards and body double. Think what happened in Ep. 1 some parts with the Queen was Padme
while others were a handmaiden. The latest Vader comic goes over this concept more.

Well they do know how to act like her
but she had his attitude and personality.
Vader: Sister... So, you have a twin sister. If you will not join me, than perhaps she will.
Luke NO! Leia would never join you!
Vader: Leia? As in Princess Leia, of Alderan!?
Luke: Yes, and there’s no way I’ll-
Vader: Shut up! SHUT UP! Just stop for a minute, I’m having a major Crisis here!
Robot Chicken reference. I love it.
"Uh, yeah, where can I get an 'I'm sorry for blowing up your planet and torturing you daughter' card?"
To be fair it was Grand Moff Tarkin that blew up Alderaan, not Darth Vader. Tarkin was under the personal protection of the emperor, so there was nothing Vader could’ve done about it even if he wanted to.
Vader wanting Luke to tell Leia he was right about him is the saddest shit ever. I cry every time.
i feel ur pain fam
I’m right there with ya.
Sebastian Shaw sure nailed it there. No wonder a number of fans hated him being "replaced" in the 2004 release of RotJ.
Your feelings betray you.. about your... sister... Wait a minute... YOU THOUGHT WHAT ABOUT YOUR SISTER?!?!
I've always believed that what motivated Luke in the moments after the reveal to the Emperor & Vader was the love for his sister. He was acting out of the Light side of the Force to protect her. The moment he stopped attacking Vader, sparing his fathers life, was only because he had not been consumed by the Dark Side. He realizing he was following a similar path to what the Emperor had manipulated between his father and mother, with his mechanical hand reminding him not to let himself become more machine than human. Love over hate. Also why Vader was redeemed in the end.
I love it when he only covers legends and not Disney's trilogy lore.
William Arce he made a video on the night’s of Ren and the bad batch 🤦♂️🙄
@@airwolf276 so?
@@airwolf276 he said I LOVE IT WHEN,not i love it that
nation of gaming plus no it’s broken English. If it was past tense he would put this:
“I loved it when he only covered legends and not Disney’s trilogy lore”
@@airwolf276 are you ok?
So if the Emporer feared Luke, I wondered if he started to fear Leia too? Not only would she have Luke's power but she would have Bail & Padme's political connections too.
He didn't know about her before death but did try to posses her unborn child in star wars legends after his return trying to find a perfect 4 his spirit
I think yes because of Obi-Wan said in episode 6: “The emperor knew as I did if Anakin were to have any children, they would be a threat to them. That is the reason why your sister remains safely anonymous.” This suggests the Emperor feared any offspring Anakin could have had.
Eeyup.
Things should have clicked then and there, I think.
I don't see how he could not have Leia looked just like Padm`e and was just like him in every way personality-wise.
They look nothing alike though lol. Except for having the same hair color.
They do act alike
Amazing UA-camr - I constantly come here for star wars info every day 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for watching and I appreciate the support!
If not for me: Ankain: "tell your sister that she is right about me,she is right!!"
*From my understanding I think he went inside his mind or read his mind. Yoda was able to do that same in the episode 2 when obi wan and anakin where arguing in stopping dooku or saving padme*
That one dislike is Sidious
SWRC - Thanks! I have always wondered that. Thanks for answering that question.
Thanks guys great videos I've seen quite a few now haha
As always you put out fantastic content, thank you guys. Now that we have more Kenobi news today, it's fun to speculate Vader's relationship with Leia.👍😎
Star wars reading club could you please do the dark horse series Darth Vader in command.
Aside from the fact that, originally, Luke and Leia weren't supposed to be siblings, it makes no sense that Vader failed to not only sense the force sensitivity in Leia (however faint), but the physical/personality similarities to Padme. It makes Vader look like a complete idiot, at least in story.
You know sidious hide his force abilites from all Jedi. She never before used force , maybe that's one od reasons why he not sensie anything .
+ sidious show his force sensivity to his master after kill his family, before Playguis wasn't sure about palpatine sensivity
I think he should feel something through the force. For example the force user in him should know that she should be alive and the damage she supported shouldn't be critical. So we see her alright after Vader's interrogation in Episode 4 that seems to be strange. And in Episode 5 Han is also alrght very soon after the torture. And I think that the fact that Leia is his daughter was hidden to him to make him able to give her these really awful and painful lessons of patience, courage and forgiveness to prepare her to her very difficult future. A joke of destiny.
On the other hand the news that the girl he tortured was so painful to him that made him defenseless from the rage of Luke. He was defeated not by Luke's rage but by his own shame and hate for himself. At that moment he wished for his death. And I think that these Vader's thoughts and feelings, not only a cybernetic hand Luke has cut made Luke stop. So Vader's ignorance about Leia was very important.
I would have thought he would have known right away when he saw her, considering how much she looks like Padm`e and had his personality and attitude.
Anakin: Tell Leia, you were right
Luke: Wait, how did you know she was my sister?
Anakin: Have you seen her sass? Only an Amidala or a Kenobi has that power...and she's not connected to House Kryze
Luke: Wait, what?!
Anakin: Tell Obi-Wan I knew about Satine's "nephew"
i love how in the youtube show how it should have ended explains this so much
Vader didn't just sense that look had a sister, but a twin even. That means both parents have to be the same. Vader was Luke's father.
So, erm, how could he not know?
I'd love to see u guys do a video on Darth Vader and the ghost prison I loved that story and the characters
Who would win in a fight? Thrawn (legends) or Thrawn (canon)? Both have access to their respective Chimera and crew
@Rudra Mazumder He does and he is even still alive.
They would team up and conquer the galaxy.
I agree with Thunder....
Umm yes he did! "Sooooo....you have a twin sister!" The end.
I would have love to see a what if vader just say... lets take him together.....
When Vader knew Luke's last name was "Skywalker" ... isn't that when he realized Luke was his son?
That’s some sound logic. It makes you wonder how afraid and curious Vader and Sidious were about Leia.
Hey, SW Reading Club, if you seen the latest episode of TCW season 7, what are your thoughts?
I'm just about to go and watch it right now, but I'm looking forward to it!
@@starwarsreadingclub maybe make a video about your thoughts?
I left a like for *awesome original trilogy scenes*
I swear if someone dislikes a swrc video imma need there address.
Haha good for you 👍 haters suck
Vader knew Leia was his sister because his thoughts directly revealed them. It was what gave Vader the “out” .... Vader was going to be destroyed & replaced or remained the servant of Sidious until that moment-but now he could train a new secret apprentice
Should be revealed in the new Canon that the actor throw insidious over the balcony was revenge for padme and Leia for what he did to padme her death in what city is said caused Vader to put leia through
Swrc who's your favourite clone?
All those years Darth Vader was at the drawimgboard for years to End the Emperor was like that shuttering bulb Luke had to turn a few times to get the Anakin that Saved the Galaxy. Anakin wasnt dead like he likes to claim.
I think it's the reason he snapped in through the emperor off the balcony is because he sensed through Luke at the moment he was being killed and Luke was crying out he wasn't only crying out through the force to Vader he was crying out through the force to Leia his sister Vader realized at that moment that threw a sidious's machinations he'd caused him to do things to his daughter that he did to his wife that he had regretted
I really need to read the RotJ novelization. Sure, it might not be as good as RotS', but I heard it's really good from its readership.
Anyways, have you explored that bit between Leia and Anakin's Force ghost in The Truce at Bakura already, SWRC?
Take a shot each time he says Leia
I wonder how it would turn out, if Yoda or the other jedi sensed Palpatine was the sith and proposed an offer that would work for both, given their different goals. Jedi want order and the Sith want power. Palpatine could be offered to handle the senate etc as a sith and thus have power over the galaxy through its politics. ( I mean, Siths make schemes, so being a politician might be what kept him so invisible) while the jedi maintain peace and order in the troubled areas. Thus both win. Palpatine have absolute power and need only to worry about political rivals as the Jedi would not bother him. Even if he declined, having made the offer might also have secured Anakin from going dark.
I understand your reasoning. But would you do a deal with someone who manipulated the galaxy into having a war in order to gain more political power? Palpatine sacrificed billions or trillions of lives in his plans and he never considers showing mercy to anyone. In other words, he is indeed pure evil and it would be very irresponsible of the jedi if they simply allowed him to rule the galaxy. Palpatine does not truly seek peace or order(he is not a Dr. Doom type character), he seeks more power. He is evil. Unlike Vader or Count Dooku, Sidius is a true Lord of the Sith.
That works!
He knew all along that's why he didn't kill Leia when he had the chance
For awesome original trilogy scenes then.
So you have a sister? Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete
Name of the comic?
You have..sister?
I HAVE DAUGHTER TOO?????
Sand
I love the Disney lore
This is Canon for me!
I the Disney lore
who else would it ,
No he didn't! One of the last things he said to Luke: "Tell your sister you were right about me!" Watch ROTJ again!
69th liked, oh yeah
Well here's the funny part, none of this is CANON. lololololol
I'm sure credible people will give explanation to this though.
Oscar Avalos Canon is what you make of it, there’s no canon like head canon. If you don’t like legends or canon disregard it. You don’t need some company, who aren’t even the creators, to tell you other wise
I tend to consider Legends as Canon unless directly contradictory.
