- If you thought you could only pin trade in the Disney parks, think again! There is a vibrant Disney pin trading community online, and it's the best way to stay connected when you aren't able to make it to the parks. In this video, I go over the basics of how to Disney pin trade online on three major platforms: Facebook, Instagram & PinPics.

What a great and useful video! I’ve been collecting Disney pins for a few years and have only recently become interested in trading with other collectors. How do you get references is you are just getting started with your first online pin trade? Thanks for the video - so helpful
Some people will start to gain references by buying from other sellers, show that they're quick with payment and follow through, that trustworthiness kind of carries into trading. Otherwise, you clearly state you are new in pin trading and don't currently have references but are looking to build them.
What are your thoughts on the daily “opps” that people have in the Facebook groups?
I'm eh about them, technically they violate PayPal's terms, but it is a way for people to get high end pins for very little. However, to win consistently, you're probably going to spend as much as if you just bought the pin outright. (And some people overprice their opps, there's a lot to get in to)
Does the Disney Store (like in a mall, not online) also sell pins?
Sometimes, with new movies coming out they might release a movie pin set. Also with monthly series like Mickey Memories and the Disney Wisdom will release pins monthly. Lately they have been releasing some Toy Story Pins for the countdown to Toy Story 4, also the A Monster.inc set
Do you ever have people pick pins up for you at the parks? I was wondering how to find reputable people who provide that service.
I saw there was a Maid Marian pin released recently and it was sold out immediately and is being resold for over a $100.
Are we just out of luck if we can’t be at the sale?
Not Emily, but I think the pin you are referring to was actually released at Mickey's of Glendale to cast members only. Those are WDI pins ("Walt Disney Imagineering") and unfortunately they are not available in the parks, and are only available for purchase by Disney Cast Members. That is the reason for the high demand and the high resale price.
Ah, that makes sense. I just started this pin journey recently and don't know all the ins and outs. Robin Hood was my childhood fave and I was super excited to see a Marian by herself pin. Oh well. When I win the lottery I guess ;)
lol! That's how I feel about a lot of those super pricey pins too. Robin Hood was also a childhood fave for me, so it was hard not to notice that Maid Marian pin... but, alas.
I frequently have people pick up pins from the parks for me! For WDW pins, @allisonspins on Instagram is my go-to, she does at-cost pick ups. Like Becka explained, that Maid Marian was a cast member exclusive, so you either have to know a cast member to get those pins or be willing to pay the high second market price.
