5:48 Stations built from iron is interesting too, cos it implies even more sort of dieselpunky retro-ness to this far-future spacefaring humanity - iron and steel are heavy as shit, and as such are absolutely unsuitable as building materials for present-day spacecraft, which use lightweight stuff like aluminium cos they need to be as light as possible for maximum fuel efficiency. Could hint at how these stations were built - not launched from the surface of a habitable planet with atmosphere, but constructed in orbit from the mined resources of nearby, barren moons?
@@leofst Nah, that would be impossible. Everything on the planets disappeared and absolutely no-one saw how it happened, as the logs said. The station only exist because it was in space with no clear view of the planet.

Some fun facts about the game (as well as 2 crazy theories on lore) - The monster in the game files is called the “Tiping Frog”. - The developer is thinking of making a sequel to the game due to the traction it has gotten. - The 9th anomaly, or the weird warping Star thing, is suppose to be a anomaly that warps time and space. It was located inside the SM-8, and could hint at how the Quiet Rapture happened. my personal theory on the lore of this game is that this warping star, whatever it is, made the blood moons. It sucked all of the human blood, buildings, life, etc. from the universe, and stored it in a giant mass that is called a moon. The people on board the space stations are so desperate to find this object in the crash of the SM-8 after the massacre of The Quiet Rapture because they want to try and reverse its effects or hold its power, and the reason it was inside the SM-8 was them trying to use its power for something else, which made The Quiet Rapture. Maybe it was a play for power, with trying to create only a few planets to try and have total control over the human race. Or, the 4 moons all had warping stars located in the area the moon was created, either in a spaceship or something else. Maybe they were trying to create 4 new planets, but instead of materializing them out of thin air, the universe had to pull “life” from other planets to create them. I think we can all agree, something sinister is happening behind the scenes from the people who are higher up in this universe. Another theory along these lines is that they weren’t trying to make planets, but instead life. They were so interested in the blood moon at-5 because they wanted to see if their experiment worked. All the other moons are discarded or overlooked because they already checked them, and found no signs of life or the warping stars. When the SM-8 was torn to shreds by a creature, a life form, the first to be found after The Great Rapture on any know planet, they are sending more and more burner subs being piloted by nobodies down just to try and study what they created with these warping stars. Of course, creating this life form had major side effects, creating the quiet rapture, causing most life forms and biological entities to be “recycled” for this moon and this so called “tiping frog”. If you read this all, thanks for listening ❤️
The name of the monster is almost certainly: TPing frog In other words, short for Teleporting Frog. And it's clearly the name of the game element, I don't think you should expect it to be a particularly canon name.
Iron lung is a proof of concept for a much greater idea, if this actually had sub like mechanic's like having to worry about crush depth, having to find caverns with pockets of air to continue further exploration and evening having some kind of armaments against fish beasties or other subs. Almost like a first person version of Barotrauma, i reckon that would be an amazing and utterly horrifying game. Imagine having to exit the sub to affect repairs in this sort of environment, it would almost be paralyzingly frightening to have to do so. and before anyone says "just play subnautica" subnautica has a certain Star Trekian tone and design to it that just bores me to tears. I want it to be dark and gritty like Dead Space.
@@daskampffredchen Exactly. Ain't no fabricator in Iron Lung. You'll be lucky to find an inch of the sub not covered in an inch thick layer of rust. That adds to the dread tremendously on your first playthrough because you expect your sub to hardly hold together, especially after the flames and the leaks. If flames and leaking happen in your Subnautica sub, then you done fucked up already.
What I really liked about the first version with the window closed was the ending when the fish broke through the aft. I don't see many people realizing how beautiful that moment was artistically. Throughout the whole game, that corner was your safe zone. You couldn't not want to know what was outside and seeing a photo provided a relief of knowing. So what better place at the end of the game for the monster to get you from then the rear close to the camera screen rather then the window where your photos were taken from and where the obvious weakest point of the vessel (the window) was?
The finite knowledge you knew about the world make the game more frightening. But as for a fact, subnautica did become a horror game unintended is just pure proof that the vast ocean of the unknown is just an absolute horror itself
The deep ocean is terrifying because we're not really adapted to live there. We could, but only through science and ingenuity. It's like being in a cave, for most people it might be, at least a bit, spooky but if you lived in it for 1+ weeks or so you'd eventually get used to it

@@joshyjoshyjoshy I'm talking specifically for the mod, dude. I know how the game works in reality. But in a mod that unseals the front window, seeing everything in black and white is strange given the context.
I feel it’s less terrifying when you can see what’s in front of you. When the window was closed, the game played on the primal fear of being in the dark and not knowing what’s around you, making you rely on the camera to actually be able to see. However, now that it’s open you can see ahead. Although still scary, it doesn’t play on that primal fear making it significantly more tame :/
When he says "it's you" about what has disappeared, it makes me think this could be a person seeing the future whilst being sucked through a black hole before their death/during their death/rebirth-of the universe or making of it? Either that or I am reallyyyyy high. Wormholes and hellscapes
Anyone else find it fascinating that the blood ocean is like that SCP Red Lake. If I remember correctly, there was also an experiment where D-Class personnel were sent in a sub down the lake. Coincidental, no?
The best part of that experiment, is that it never actually happened. There was never a research team sent down in the red lake, yet they somehow have proof that an expedition happened down there.
I like to think of iron lung and outer wilds being 2 sides of the same coin, one side is dark, sadistic, terrifying, and frighteningly realistic, while the other is filled with discovery, curiousity, inconsequence and hope for whatever comes next, like yin and yang.
There was a new update called "The Lore Update" nothing much for a video, but I still enjoy seeing the game get updated! Also I love the window feature mod but hate it at the same time. Sorry if this feels like I'm rushing you.)
What I've seen, it doesn't matter what order the points of interest are gone to. The last one is always where the end-game attack happens. You could start with that upper right point and head down to the one closest at start. Whatever your last point is, that when the attack comes.
That mob justice entry reeks of "we have investigated ourselves and we have concluded we are innocent of mob justice but we decided you are guilty of thought crimes against the collective"
Hey! If you're not with us, you're against us right? Lol, joking aside, people can often be closeminded about those types of things. It's the danger of small populations - less potential diversity (whether in thought or otherwise) is more likely to result in insular thinking Plus, once people see an "end" they often focus on that to the exclusion of everything else
Something interesting about the entries is that if you search up one thing on the terminal you can often search up one thing that was in another entry essentially the entries lead to all the others
Imagine another iron lung game set during one of the earlier expeditions with a bigger submarine and possibly more crew to explore the depths of the blood sea
WAIT A MINUTE. IGP YOU COULD BE RIGHT, the idea that the planets didn’t disappear but WE did is actually a really good theory. There would be no way to know it, but the theory that, that WAS actually the case, and they DID bleed into a different universe is an amazing theory. THE LORE!
what's your opinion in atmospheric horror games? "you should play the game as intended for a better experience" IGP: if it an asset, it goes into the casket
"Why does it look like there is constantly an eye on the window?" Me: "Oh, that's just Oiel. The scientists who named him thought it would be clever to name him Eye in French. Don't worry about him, he just likes to press his eye against the window sometimes when you aren't looking. He isn't very sneaky, because he leaves those eye prints behind. He's harmless, wouldn't hurt a fly."
So the reason there looks like there’s a constant eye on the window is because a low opacity eye png follows the camera follows the player around until you get to the eye picture area
Gonna sound lame...I've got a good life, great career...great health...feel darn good most days. But I'll be damned if seeing a notification from IGP pop up on a weekend doesn't just make my day,seriously..best way to spend a super late Saturday night in my shop 🤘
The window being open does kind of ruin the surprise of the eye. In the OG, the random obstruction out of nowhere when you KNOW there's nothing in your way on the map forces you to go: _"WTF!?"_ and take a picture to see what's in front of you. THEN you get the eye scare.
Yea-Yeah-eah! Back to this creepy game again, I can't wait to see this dark and mystery events. Whether one will survive and tell the tale of what they found the unknown, or something else. I love phenomenal events.

Imagine this as multiplayer but you are only able to communicate via a short wave radio and you and a team must take the pictures, so you can split up but risk loss of communication and getting lost yourself, but also if you stick together the creature is guaranteed to find y'all
It's a basic conclusion, really. A common oversight among people in a case like this is that nothing happened to you, whereas in reality there's nothing to state you, and maybe some common landmarks, shifted. Or maybe you shifted to a parallel dimension that's just similar enough to make you think everything else moved, etc..... Without more data, though, it'd be darn near impossible to tell. Especially given their particular situation is seemingly a well-contrived deathtrap. If they don't die from resource scarcity, good ol' human intolerance will likely do them in
I guess I was wrong in the video when you first played this. Although my theory is still a good one, This anomaly that keeps happening with these oceans of real human blood appearing on moons is something I'm going to want to study.
11:06 IGP might be right. Maybe you did somehow warp into another universe which is this one. How come I never come up with that? But that does not answer how it happen but it’s a mystery that’s left to be unsolved.
I don't think anyone has tried this but at the final picture what if you just back up and not look behind you, I think the reason why the giant angler attacks you is because of a visual trigger.
11:10 see, I'm not sure how much sense this really makes, because moons & asteroids have a *lot* of useful stuff. Ice, which you can use for water, oxygen & hydrogen for rocket fuel or even fusion if you have that tech, which, if you can traverse interstellar distances you probably do, let alone all the materials you can get.
I suppose it depends on how reliant these stations were on planetary manufacturing. It seems like most, if not all, were built around them which would likely mean the caoability for advanced production would be redundant (presumably the trips planet-side would be quick and/or frequent). Basic things like water, food, maybe even spare parts, etc... would make sense to have locally to maintain a stockpile and for emergencies
18:13 what you're saying here did make me realize because all the stars are gone a lot of gravitational orbits vanished too so a lot of moons could have also crashed into each other or become apart of a gas giant's orbit if they drifted far enough.
What I personally like to believe and please keep in mind this is a HEADCANON. Is that the blood trench we explore is on The Moon. Like, EARTHS Moon. You might say “but then where’s the moon base?” And to that I have to say…blame the void. (For context Void is what the weird white portal thing is called in the games files)
have you noticed, they didnt send you down with any food or water?.....zip, nah-da, diddly squat, its almost as if they knew you was never coming back, strange huh? :/ xxx
I love how UA-cam says that this is Five Nights at Freddy's. 😂🤣Also, I watched your first video on the IRON LUNG and absolutely loved it! So I'm really glad to see you play it again.
in iron lung you arent inside the blood ocean, the submarine is a static object, the reason you're able to make pictures is because the games camera is the actual object in the scene
The game wasn't made with a window in mind, the encounters don't react to you seeing it, only the camera, so it lacks the impact when you take a still pic, take another, and it's gone. With the window, the illusion is broken and you see the things are just static.
About the lore in the terminal... Is possible that all the people that are in space transport to another universe without habitat planets. And there is a 100 times bigger fish in space that plays with humanity like this fish plays with the MC pushing, hiting the sub ect I think the mod turn off some colliders because if you go close to portal star in the original you D13
I just had a thought before I got scared by that fish breaking into his sub, cant you just take a picture of the last area by just walking backwards and not looking back until you get to the back of that sub? thats What I would try out after finishing the game.
@@codysmith3531 someone has a video that shows you can't walk but so far back once the sequence is triggered and turning around is what sets off the jumpscare
I read that you can take a picture of that area if it is not the last area. The fish will appear at the last area, no matter which area you choose to take a picture of last.
Pretty sure there's plenty of settings where horriboe monsters lurk in space. Pretty sure Lovecraft has at least a few (more like a lot, IIRC). Distant worlds, video game, has weird deadly space monsters, etc.... Admittedly, space is much larger than an Ocean so the chances are higher you'll likely be fine. It doesn't lack for horrifying ways to die, though
I think that there are 2 different creatures down there, because when we see the Mahler fish one, it’s eyes are completely white, but the other one has scales and pupils.
The open window is cool, but also takes away the mystery of the game. It's one of those things that's good and bad. Regardless, it's a cool little mod to play around with! Either way, it's an IGP video. I'm happy. Keep up the awesome work!
Really confused still. More questions raised than answered, albeit now with a little bit better glimpse of what may have happened and other curiosities. So, thus far, in general, this unknown "rupture" phenomenon abruptly occurred and all know celestial planets alongside its inhabitants if any have vanished without a trace. Only moons or some moons and asteroids are left? That and those that were in space ships and space stations of which are seemingly the last known human populace still alive. 4 of said moons have blood oceans. Question: Are the moons new or are the blood oceans the ones new? In any case, said blood oceans have now just been revealed to actually consists either entirely or a mix of other elements and human blood? Only ever confirmed that it was indeed human blood but not the actual ratio or so, though given the statement, could be inferred as the blood oceans entirely being made of human blood indeed. Aside from that, there was some details about the stations and their backgrounds such as the stations themselves and their inhabitants as well as relations and conflicts such as factions and disputes and the likes. Notes about past expeditions as well can be found. All in all, pretty much a total mystery still.

Could hint at how these stations were built - not launched from the surface of a habitable planet with atmosphere, but constructed in orbit from the mined resources of nearby, barren moons?
i believe the case was that they were built on plante's surfaces, but then the planet vanished from below them with this ''quiet rapture'' event.
@@leofst Nah, that would be impossible. Everything on the planets disappeared and absolutely no-one saw how it happened, as the logs said. The station only exist because it was in space with no clear view of the planet.

@@toobig7399 exactly, no one knows how it happend, but the logs do not say that no one saw it happening.
it may be up for interpretation, but the logs still sustain the ideia that people saw the planets vanishing and yet had no idea how they did, which is still the biggest mistery
Some fun facts about the game (as well as 2 crazy theories on lore)
- The monster in the game files is called the “Tiping Frog”.

The name of the monster is almost certainly: TPing frog

The depths of Subnautica is terrifying. You're probably thinking of the first area we start in.
@@ninjahunterx7497 I think he means the art design. All of the technology in Subanutica is pretty Star Trekky
Iron Lung is more Diesel Punk
@@daskampffredchen Exactly. Ain't no fabricator in Iron Lung. You'll be lucky to find an inch of the sub not covered in an inch thick layer of rust. That adds to the dread tremendously on your first playthrough because you expect your sub to hardly hold together, especially after the flames and the leaks. If flames and leaking happen in your Subnautica sub, then you done fucked up already.
Might I suggest you play barotrauma dark gritty fun and hard all at the same time
Have you played Diluvion?
It always scared me shitless when I had to go into the pitch-black depths.
So what better place at the end of the game for the monster to get you from then the rear close to the camera screen rather then the window where your photos were taken from and where the obvious weakest point of the vessel (the window) was?
this was poetic, thank you
The finite knowledge you knew about the world make the game more frightening.

That mob justice entry reeks of "we have investigated ourselves and we have concluded we are innocent of mob justice but we decided you are guilty of thought crimes against the collective"
Hey! If you're not with us, you're against us right? Lol, joking aside, people can often be closeminded about those types of things. It's the danger of small populations - less potential diversity (whether in thought or otherwise) is more likely to result in insular thinking
Plus, once people see an "end" they often focus on that to the exclusion of everything else
Something interesting about the entries is that if you search up one thing on the terminal you can often search up one thing that was in another entry essentially the entries lead to all the others
It’s nice to see the game’s getting updates. I wonder how the Quiet Rapture universe (of what little is left) shall be expanded even further

what's your opinion in atmospheric horror games?
"you should play the game as intended for a better experience"
IGP: if it an asset, it goes into the casket
You can actually take a picture of the last one if you simply leave an anomaly undiscovered, but then it will kill you anyway once you get close
"Why does it look like there is constantly an eye on the window?"
Me: "Oh, that's just Oiel. The scientists who named him thought it would be clever to name him Eye in French. Don't worry about him, he just likes to press his eye against the window sometimes when you aren't looking. He isn't very sneaky, because he leaves those eye prints behind. He's harmless, wouldn't hurt a fly."
I know this game is just meant to be a spooky one off indie, but I actually would REALLY love to see more from this universe
So the reason there looks like there’s a constant eye on the window is because a low opacity eye png follows the camera follows the player around until you get to the eye picture area
If you pay close attention you can see the image through the window change when you're teleported (the first time).

This mod is awesome, I just wish they made the window red, seeming as your journeying through an ocean of blood
The window being open does kind of ruin the surprise of the eye. In the OG, the random obstruction out of nowhere when you KNOW there's nothing in your way on the map forces you to go: _"WTF!?"_ and take a picture to see what's in front of you. THEN you get the eye scare.
Your not afraid of being alone in the dark. Your afraid of not being alone in the dark
You can see forever in space, underwater, you're limited vastly
I maintain my theory that the quiet rapture is just that these space faring humans have been sucked into another dimension and didn't notice.

Very very cool to see the positives and negatives of modding visual aspects of these horror games. Love it!
Imagine this as multiplayer but you are only able to communicate via a short wave radio and you and a team must take the pictures, so you can split up but risk loss of communication and getting lost yourself, but also if you stick together the creature is guaranteed to find y'all
I like that we have the same theory - that the guys on the space stations are the ones that have gone somewhere.
Your videos, although typically involving games of horror, are such a comfort to me to watch and enjoy. Thanks, IGP. :)

19:56 "Its horrifying moment when all of your fears are solidified"

Would love to see another game from them that expands on the lore and maybe puts you into some of the events that happened 👀
(For context Void is what the weird white portal thing is called in the games files)

in iron lung you arent inside the blood ocean, the submarine is a static object, the reason you're able to make pictures is because the games camera is the actual object in the scene
Honestly prefer it with the window. Makes it more creepy to me.
The game wasn't made with a window in mind, the encounters don't react to you seeing it, only the camera, so it lacks the impact when you take a still pic, take another, and it's gone.
With the window, the illusion is broken and you see the things are just static.
You can get a picture of the last one if you go through and get it first. Also an achievement there.
About the lore in the terminal... Is possible that all the people that are in space transport to another universe without habitat planets.
And there is a 100 times bigger fish in space that plays with humanity like this fish plays with the MC pushing, hiting the sub ect

18:16 i knew something like this would happen if their window is actually constantly taking pictures, but not verifying it
I just had a thought before I got scared by that fish breaking into his sub, cant you just take a picture of the last area by just walking backwards and not looking back until you get to the back of that sub? thats What I would try out after finishing the game.
I doubt it I think it’s triggered by moving there and not walking there that’s how most games do it

Pretty sure there's plenty of settings where horriboe monsters lurk in space. Pretty sure Lovecraft has at least a few (more like a lot, IIRC). Distant worlds, video game, has weird deadly space monsters, etc....
