Thomas, I am so sorry about your father. 😢 Breaks my heart. Yes, I knew of him from older videos. Great moments. Surely a great man. He raised another great man. No one deserves to lose a loved one. It really hurts. So sad and scary how people can suddenly be taken from us. We never know what our last moments with them will be. Rest in peace. Hoping for the best for you, too. 😢
Sorry to hear about your father, Thomas. It reminds me of the trips I make with my dad. Every year we go skiing in Austria (from the Netherlands), just my dad and I and it's a great drive and time together and that'll stay with me. So yes, good memories. Further though, good review as always, even though it's about cars that I'll never be able to afford, it's still fun to watch. Take care!
Always loved Aston Martin, but I'm not sure any car with digital gauges and touch screen heating controls can ever be a future classic. Bring back analogue as an option.
I think he means it's a bit more of a bother to start prodding above the dash when doing like a three point turn, parking etc. as opposed to just moving a lever back and forth you already rest your hand on anyway.
No doubt! The Aston Martin brings so much more emotion from its exterior/interior design, from the engine and exhaust sound, from its exclusivity... Even of the Audi is an efficient German car with “Vorsprung durch Technik“, it doesn't have the English soul. DB(X) forever!
The infotainment on the Aston is honestly an absolute disaster. It looks very dated for a car with this price tag and far too overly-complicated, as Thomas explains.
Usual fair and excellent review by Thomas.I do believe we have become obsessed with technology at the expence of beauty,bearing that in mind it's an easy choice for me.It's the Aston by a mile.

Aston Martin DBX for sure! Q8 has been out for a while so kind of outdated in design. DBX is fresh and its curves and other details are just top notch. I haven't seen any DBX running in Toronto, Canada yet.
The Aston Martin does look way better both interior and exterior. Audi is not enough for Aston Martin. The Aston Martin is in a different league, it's a Luxury brand.

DEFINITELY THE ASTON MARTIN, at this price point, the Audi is way to boring, ok it's quicker but it has to be more emotional. If I buy such a vehicle, I want it to be an experience everyday, not just a "better Audi SUV"
This is a fair, appropriate and well thought through review. Aston does need refreshing already if it is to gain a foothold in this segment. Its saviour (MB) is also its downfall as it gains a great power plant but none of the requisite tech that allows it to truly compete with likes of Audi, MB, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley and soon to be Ferrari. The infotainment continues to be purposely hamstrung by MB, it should also have rear-wheel steer and it should have good seats with heat, cooling and massage front and back. There needs to be an electric shade, possibly with the option for electrochromic glass. A cooler box wouldna’e go amiss either. It is a pretty SUV in spite of the panel gaps - the Vantage arse could do with a similar quad pipe enhancement though. I hope MB comes through as it would be a shame to see AML wither against strong opposition with more secure funding. A very good start that just needs proper tech investment.
In terms of pure design esthetics, I think the Aston Martin wins. But in terms of great practical engineering, I give the nod to the Audi. I'll never afford either, but great review, thanks. Very sorry for your loss Thomas.
The Audi is a text fest of technology along with the engine the style and the looks and amazingly large car but personally if I had the money to buy one I would go with the Aston Martin the style the presents and that colour absolutely amazing and I appreciate they have teamed up with Mercedes but when you are paying over well over £100,000 for a car I would expect the infotainment system to be on par with Audi as that’s scroll wheel and screen just look old Great video as always

Great review. I am a massive Aston Martin fan and would take the DBX for the looks, the sound and the head turning factor it has. However, RSQ8 all the way for me as the vehicle I could live with day in and day out and does everything else just that bit better.

But I'm a bit of a fan...who wouldn't after starting 17 years ago as an aupair and my "Boss" was driving DB9 in Racing green 💚🐐 It was like listening to a bomber plane disappearing in to the distance🤣😎 And for that i have always respected him... First of all I would offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your Father. Second, I would agree with your choices and reasoning. That Aston is indeed a stunning machine, but I recall that review in Tenerife of the RSQ8 and wow what a beast. All the best.
Thomas - you didn't comment on the matt paint on the Aston. I wouldn't touch it - on any car - too high maintenance, too risky to repair, dodgy retained value. It's a fashion and fashion doesn't last, by definition.
All of my cars are German now with upgraded turbos and they are so reliable and fun to drive. The Germans, famous for over-engineering, sure know how to build an average machine instantly ready for upgrades. BMW if bought, comes with “Built engines” meaning they have the right metals incorporated to not melt with the turbo….i love German engineering. I have a Porsche GT3 and a BMW440i and an older m5 up for sale
i live in LA area and seen both a couple times, the rsq8 is so lowkey it just looks like any other blacked out audi suv, only car enthusiasts really even look. dbx on the other hand.. well it's an aston, does a fair bit of head-turning. id take the rsq8 tho, this and the audi s8 are underrated stealth machines

From a brand image point of course the Aston Martin every single time! Audis are for the OK-to-Rich, Aston Martins are for the WEALTHY. There is a difference between the two!
I'm conflicted on both . The audi has off scale hatch back proportions. The black horizontal bar in the rear looks cheap. Just looks like something Ford would do. The interior looked great when it came out, but seems like it's on every audi. The Aston looks good but they're just reusing their cliche styling . Its always snails pace with them . The interior is a gen or 2 behind. Like typical astons, the center stack looks parts bin. The IP hood too small 12:45. The rear lights looks wrong. Trying too hard . Astons to me are like going to a "designer" outlet to buy clothes.
Same, especially since they went full force and made their own platform car and clearly put effort into design. It's not simply a regular SUV turned exotic like the Urus or Cayenne.
@@samherford1298 I don't know if that's what they meant, but in my opinion Aston turned their sports car look into SUV form so, so much better than Porsche. To be fair, Porsche had to work with the Q7 platform while the Aston is on a dedicated platform.
Loved the exterior design overall, except for the front bumber daylight lamps, they need to change the shape of it, give it a sharper aggressive look which would compliment the car's overall sporty design. Hate the interior central console & display, simply for the fact that it's borrowed from AMG and is dated. Such a shame for an otherwise beautiful car. And lastly, would love to see a more powerful engine which would do justice to the car's overall design, which is screaming "Powerful, Fast & Sexy" all the way. Do all that and you get the best selling SUV in it's range in the market. Waiting for the next improved version, with all the much needed changes in the hopes of owning one myself. But for now, it's a thumbs down. 👎 Sorry Aston Martin. 🙁
Interesting that whilst the host was at pains to mention the usage of minor Mercedes/AMG parts on the Aston., he completely ignored the common usage of parts in Audi/Porsche/Urus..!! The simple fact is though that no matter how sensible the Audi may be, it just fails to excite the way the Aston does..!!

Well I love the sound more from the AMG V8 engine,so it will be the Aston Martin DBX, I choose.
Press the start button to start the engine, the press the D button to drive. What is complicated about that? It literally could not be simpler.

Audi really make beautiful interiors. But even though this Audi looks more interesting than most, they still have a dull design philosophy.

They're the same market. Its just that AM is the alternative for those that don't want to be considered mainstream.
Car prices are out of control IMO. I like the Audi better in the end. Steering looked sketchy in the Aston.
Yeah I noticed that but I have one and the steering is fab, lots of feel and very stable at speed.

Panel gaps on Aston Martin are ridiculous, it is nice as a concept but I don't know if it's design is pulled well off.

@@samherford1298 I don't know if that's what they meant, but in my opinion Aston turned their sports car look into SUV form so, so much better than Porsche. To be fair, Porsche had to work with the Q7 platform while the Aston is on a dedicated platform.

Loved the exterior design overall, except for the front bumber daylight lamps, they need to change the shape of it, give it a sharper aggressive look which would compliment the car's overall sporty design. Hate the interior central console & display, simply for the fact that it's borrowed from AMG and is dated. Such a shame for an otherwise beautiful car. And lastly, would love to see a more powerful engine which would do justice to the car's overall design, which is screaming "Powerful, Fast & Sexy" all the way. Do all that and you get the best selling SUV in it's range in the market. Waiting for the next improved version, with all the much needed changes in the hopes of owning one myself. But for now, it's a thumbs down. 👎 Sorry Aston Martin. 🙁
Yes I would probably choose the Audi RSQ8,Therefore I love The rumbler,from the Audi V8 engine.

@4:35 The RHD market strikes back! My last three cars have all had the bonnet release in the passenger footwall i.e. LHD converted to RHD.
RSQ8 looks like a bloated Q2 whilst the DBX looks truly special with a real sense of occasion and like nothing else on the road.
If Aston Martin put decent infotainment in every car they would sell loads more 😎
Interesting that whilst the host was at pains to mention the usage of minor Mercedes/AMG parts on the Aston., he completely ignored the common usage of parts in Audi/Porsche/Urus..!! The simple fact is though that no matter how sensible the Audi may be, it just fails to excite the way the Aston does..!!
