I am glad there are more choices available today. In my area of Central Connecticut, I noticed Comcast running many radio ads throwing shade at T-Mobile Home Internet. That brought a grin to my face :) Three 5G Home internet providers, One Satilite (StarLink) and two fiber ISP coming on line may mean better service and lower prices. I don't like AT&T, but I would certainly like it if they hop on the bandwagon to increase competition even further.

I received it on Monday. No problems with set up but you’re absolutely right. When I do a speed test it starts out at 250 Mbps then quickly winds down to exactly 100 speed. And the bottom of the cube says made in Taiwan and a TracFone wireless logo. I’ve been streaming for days and no slow down yet no way to monitor my data through them, so I’ll just keep it up and see if it dies.

I watched a video of someone speedtesting this last night and the speeds are throttled to 100/10 on 5g and the video is limited to 1080p or about 7 mbps. Don’t know about priority, but since it is prepaid I wouldn’t be surprised if it was lower than postpaid.

I set this up awhile back using OVPN as my provider and I couldn't get my streaming apps like amazon to work. It came up with a message onscreen that said it looks like I'm using a VPN and I had to disconnect it to get my streaming back. I have a static public IP with them so its not in an IP pool that would be used for other stuff but must be in an IP range that Amazon, etc knows about.

Then 2 days later I got an email from Verizon saying they reviewed my purchase and cancelled it because my shipping address is not eligible for 5G Home Internet. I get 5G UW on my phone in my house, so not sure why my address isn't eligible for their 5G Home Internet. Anyway, thought you should know the address workaround is no longer working. I had to do likewise. The reason why it "doesn't work" there is because in areas with sparse connectivity (where most resources are shifted toward populous areas (for obvious reasons), there is less bandwidth to go around. If ST "opens it up" or people get hip to the address hack and start using it (like me), then the already sparse bandwidth resources will go to hell FAST! It's not that it "CAN'T" be used in the areas, but because they can't support the things in sparsely populated areas.

As someone who (and my wife as well) uses straight talk for phone service, were quite intrigued with this available option for home internet. We currently have hughesnet (20 gb plan), and it only really works well for the first 4-7 days, then the rest of the month is a creep in data (we have to use our straight talk hotspot from our phones at times). Once we can afford it, we're going to pay the early cancellation fee and switch. Honestly we love not having a binding contract, and it works pretty consistently. :)

I would switch to the straight talk home internet for sure. 20mbps is not good enough for most streaming services. Really great informative instructional videos! I've had the Straight Talk Home Internet for just over a year. About a week ago I lost the 2.4g wifi access point altogether. No devices will connect to it however the 5g signal is no problem. I've decided to add a Linksys router to get around that problem. Otherwise one thing you can do is name the Straight Talk home internet modem wifi network the exact same thing as your previous router (Wi-Fi network name and password) and then everything will connect just like it always has.

I wanted to know can you take it with you on vacation or down the road if you have a 110 v car jack and also does it have a good range of reception for your devices like outside and does it slow down if multiple devices are streaming at once. I do appreciate all the info and hope you have a Merry Christmas,, Jesus is the reason ☺

As far as using a t-mobile sim card from straight talk once it is installed on a phone it must be kept in there otherwise t mobile will block your sim, and I think Verizon sim from straight talk is the same. I also know that on cricket which is att if you remove your sim from and android to an apple phone your service will be interrupted. It's hard to tell on your phone if your using Verizon tower you'll have to register a new sim with your imei, but if att works in your area better to use that one while it still works, since straight talk wants us to switch to Verizon, since they're own by them now

Why would you want to use the phone's hotspot feature when this device is already technically a hotspot. That kind of makes no sense to want to do something this device already does.
