Kristen, I have watched your videos for a few years now and always appreciate the uniqueness of individual homes you share with us. This one captures my imagination in special ways: my college in Southern California had a large olive grove planted to one side of the varied concrete halls, library, and dormitories. We had paths to walk among the beautiful trees with their ripening fruit - a connection to ancient Mid-Eastern history - that we enjoyed in season and quiet places for meditation. This gorgeous home with its stunning setting vividly reminds me of that lovely, precious time and place. Thank you!
Hello, Jose! I attended BIOLA College in La Mirada, CA about a few years before it became a certified university. At that time the Olive Grove took up the west rise of the hillside along La Mirada Blvd; I remember that the trees seemed to be spaced about twelve to fifteen feet apart. There were numerous olive groves throughout the city and in the area for the reasons you would expect; it was a well-respected marketplace for buyers and sellers. As the University added new dorms, teaching and auxiliary buildings, the grove diminished. In 2009, alumni raise funds to have a new grove created with sixty trees; some were new and many were mature trees originally planted on the property in the late 1880s. Since this is a private Christian university, the olive grove represents a very significant reference for followers to Jesus' life and the several thousand-year history of Israel. Thanks for asking. : )
@@DanielinLaTuna - DLT, I thought it was an excellent guess and was surprized at the nearness to my unspecified college. La Mirada is about 4.5 miles directly SW as a crow flies, or 6 miles by freeway. I lived in several locations in LA and Orange counties, so the map is firmly in my mind from those days. Y'all have a great week! : )
Sherrill Smith, hello from SoCal! I’m not sure where Movie Jose lives, but I guess LA. We’re probably thinking along the foothills of the San Gabriels or San Bernardinos, where they had all kinds of fruit groves. UCRiverside still has a large citrus experimental grove, and CalPoly Pomona was a farm school. I always associate OC with orange groves, so BIOLA wasn’t on my radar. I love UA-cam for all the learning, including in the comments section. Where did you go after leaving us in Southern California? Do you miss it? Blessings to you.
Absolutely beautiful home. You've shown so many beautiful homes, but this one really moved me. The creation of smaller, more intimate rooms by the curtains was a real feast for the eyes. Oh, and the well and little pool around the Olive tree was simply brilliant. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Definitely your best video presentation... the lighting was magical as it complemented the Golden Ratio geometry... KUDOS to you, the architect, the family and father whos many visions clearly reflects his love of life and nature... a residence that will live with the olive trees for many centuries...
What a magnificent dwelling. What precise and yet organic architectural strategies are employed; every design choice is rational but not at all forced. Touring it through your capable film making gives the viewer such a sense of slowed time and easy serenity. One of the most beautiful places featured on this channel. Thanks For Posting.
The Lady has such a beautiful voice and she makes the words glide on the air when she is speaking....so soothing lovely! The house would not be my way to use the views, but if they love it, it is what is important!
While I am not sure the triangle qualities speak to me personally, the things that this house accomplishes in very simple ways really, really moves me. Thank you for sharing.
This was a wonderful visitation. I so much enjoyed this experience. I see that the gentleman was meticulous about the mathematics, but then the Greeks were/are great mathematicians. I was wondering about the overhang being sloped up that way, and I didn't see until he explained it that it unobstructed the exposure to the mountains. Love what you did here in your coverage Kirsten.
I love modern Greek architecture. There's grace in bold/simple forms and elegance in muted earthen materials. I see a critical and curious eye on tradition; architects and clients embracing the new but also cherishing memory.
This design is one of the most unique and practical concepts that I have come across. Truly beautiful and natural incorporation of home within landscape. Use of geometric design and wall structure is exceptional. Brilliant!
Wow Truly respecting nature. No need for further decoration other than changing lights and seasons. The colours come from the beautiful views. I would not need more .Fire, comfy sofa ,place to sit, eat, sleep. Protection. Love love love this.
Not any longer. I have modern varieties that have harvested well in five to ten years. I also own some which are over three hundred years old, fantastic creatures. So beautiful. Respect for a inspirational house. . Locked And Loaded.
Thank you so much for these, and this one in particular. With minor modifications I could see a design like this working on the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast. The waterway around the house is truly excellent, I love the idea of combining the several forms of climate control, each making a small difference but ultimately eliminating the need for elaborate and expensive heating and air conditioning.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. I love it the design and the way you describe it makes it sound peaceful and romantic. How wonderful.thank you for showing me your house.

Movie Jose, Pomona was a very good guess. I would have guessed a bit further to the east, Redlands.
This house is a masterpiece. It looks like a museum and art gallery. Simple and beautiful.
Prison yard...
One of my favorite videos! Looking at video i can feel and smell the warm air gently moving through the courtains into the house.
And what a fashion sense the emperor has!
The kitchen is amazing. I would cook 5 meals a day in there. I love how it’s fully modern integrated into nature. This house is amazing really ❤️❤️❤️
There are so many things to like here, I know not where to begin ! Thanks for sharing.
“Always with the olives.”
“Yes, it’s an olive grove.”
Hahaa such a dumb comment
Hahaha this made me laugh so hard 😂
Perfect comment
@@shru1014 there is no need to be impolite mate. she is simply overcome with how amazing the house is.
straight savage
*An architectural masterpiece !* How exciting to see such ideas brought to life.
Looks more like a miltary bunker than a home
@@The_Reality_Filter have you seen the whole video?
This lovely Greek woman needs to have a documentary made about her
The Lady has such a beautiful voice and she makes the words glide on the air when she is speaking....so soothing lovely!
The house would not be my way to use the views, but if they love it, it is what is important!
haha.. i was looking for a comment like this. her voice is the best part of this video
I actually love this place. The more I saw the more I fell in love. What an incredible life to have.
Very interesting episode. That fireplace was incredible. Thanks guys!
What a beautiful home and beautiful views. How peaceful!
Stunning architecture! The fusion of the house into the olive grove is almost seamless!
I love modern Greek architecture. There's grace in bold/simple forms and elegance in muted earthen materials. I see a critical and curious eye on tradition; architects and clients embracing the new but also cherishing memory.
I think it is a nice solution for a house on mediterránian countryside!
Thanks for the inspiring video !
I'm living for eccentric Greek olive farmers. I want her to tell me the history of the world since time began in her own beautiful words.
it all started with an olive. but not these olives, other olives. its about the olives you see
wrath lamp lol
I'm guessing the collapse of the Greek economy passed this family by...they don't look like the food bank type.
Athan asios lol
@Athan asios Man do you live in ekali or smth cause greeks ARE poor
This design is one of the most unique and practical concepts that I have come across. Truly beautiful and natural incorporation of home within landscape. Use of geometric design and wall structure is exceptional. Brilliant!
You should sign up for Netflix and watch World's most amazing homes
There's better gems there
Maximilian Biaggio - thanks. I will check that out.
Wow Truly respecting nature. No need for further decoration other than changing lights and seasons. The colours come from the beautiful views. I would not need more .Fire, comfy sofa ,place to sit, eat, sleep. Protection. Love love love this.
You plant an olive tree for your children to tend and your grandchildren to harvest.
That's how the elite roll when money is no problem.
@@The_Reality_Filter Yep, the elite and every single person in a village ever
@@The_Reality_Filter I didnt know my ancestors were elite. Here I thought they were simple farmers...
Not any longer. I have modern varieties that have harvested well in five to ten years. I also own some which are over three hundred years old, fantastic creatures. So beautiful. Respect for a inspirational house. . Locked And Loaded.
Ed what a lovely sentiment. Thank you for your words.
Love, Love, Love!♥️ What a beautiful couple and lovely home!!! I love everything about it!
This is awesome. Really like the design of the house that fits into the environment and the surrounding. It's so elegant and simplicity.
Thank you so much for these, and this one in particular. With minor modifications I could see a design like this working on the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast. The waterway around the house is truly excellent, I love the idea of combining the several forms of climate control, each making a small difference but ultimately eliminating the need for elaborate and expensive heating and air conditioning.
thankyou Kirsten Dirksen, it is awesome to know a place like this exists, heaven on Earth.
I absolutely love everything about this house!!!! It’s absolutely awesome. I’d just need more books
Thank you for sharing this lovely unique home! How exceptional!
Intelligent house.
The idea of water is just lovely
Magnificent home, and what a witty and elegant home owner!❤️
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. I love it the design and the way you describe it makes it sound peaceful and romantic. How wonderful.thank you for showing me your house.
A beautiful home. I wonder how they keep all that glass so clean.
when the air is clean, windows don't get dirty so quickly.
Cleaning 😐
Paying somebody to do that.
When you live off the grid and not working, you got time to actually do stuff.
I think it's called Windex.
This is a master piece and the water flowing is great
What a lovely home and absolutely fascinating couple.. if only more people could be a little more like these them!!
For a Pythagorean house, I was expecting it to have a right angle. However, the logic behind its design couldn't be better !
I don't understand when he talked about why the house is a triangle instead of a rectangle, can you help?
@@Danuxsy
It's a sort of optical illusion effect. A small sq. meter footprint with the 'apperance' of more distance between the front and back of the property. Think back to art class when you learned about depth of field and drawing with the intention of making a point on the paper look like it was in the distance from your vantage point. Hope I was able to clarify the concept. 😺
@@debracisneroshhp2827 I think I sort of got it, although barely. 😒🙄
@@Danuxsy I think I understood something about with a triangle being able to make each wall as long as possible on the footprint. Something that with a rectangle, would not be possible (2 long sides, 2 short sides vs. 3 long sides). Could be wrong.
@@jackfntwist I agree. I was thinking this as well.
Beautifully created home! Well do! Stunning views.
That sort of thing is not my bag, but credit to the designer on an amazing home.
Beautifully designed with and around nature! I was so relaxed throughout the entire tour!
What an intelligent, thoughtful and beautiful design, home and a beautiful family!👍💗
Gorgeous minimal home. Charming couple. Enjoyed
this.
