Damnnn... at first I thought that Deadpool wanted the girl to jump of Parker Industries building to make Peter uncomfortably with someone commiting suicside in his building but it makes so much more sense. A sneaky but sensible trick befitting Deadpool.
He wasn't being a hero. he was just there reaching out and lending a hand. He even admitted not being able to help, but just talking and and supporting can be as helpful as trying to be a hero
A "hero" would've swept her off her feet and gotten her to safety before giving her a standardized speech about the beauty of life. Deadpool just talked with her and actually brought her to the help she needed.
Naw, anyone can be a hero. Good or bad. Deadpool definitely did a good thing. Nothing more nothing less. Thus is why he is called a " anti hero" for a reason.
The dude who probably would have committed suicide multiple times in his life, but can’t as he is literally immortal, talking someone out of committing suicide. Love this so much.

@@gewuerzwanze5627 I'm not all that into Deadpool but, from what I understand, it's more like "good people need to stay alive to make the world a better place".
I love the message of this comic. I doesn't take the easy way out, by having the hero talk the person back to feeling better. Deadpool just distracts her and takes her to a safe place. He has the wisdom to know that he can't help her.
I love what he says to her before they go see Hamilton. "I'm sure a real hero would have something profound to say to you to make you feel better instantly, but... I'm all you got." That right there paired with how he helps her by taking her to the hospital is what makes Wade a true hero. A real isn't someone who can say or do something, and that'll make everything okay. A real hero is someone who knows how to be powerless and still makes a difference in someone's life.
@nappyk96 true, and he even does something that Superman doesn't. Wade knows that just talking to a suicidal person is the bare minimum. They need real help.
The entire comic was made with the intention of spreading awareness. The actual comic has the hotline number in the back. I think, havn't seen the physical book in a while.
Reinert Zerker you’re fuckin clueless LMAO you think depression is dealt with by therapists and doctors simply prescribing medicine?? do some research on therapy and then make a statement on it
Some are just bob or you or you’re everyone can be a hero even if you don’t see it yet let’s make you have the job of asking people if they need help or volunteering at a place like a orfinig
“You just need a little help. And I am *not* the guy to help you.” He really didn’t have to call me out on choosing to read comics & get overly attached to characters rather than asking my parents about therapy
GingerZombie29 this holds true in so many situations. Any time you meet a survivor of trauma or someone who has lost a loved one, and you haven't experienced the same thing, it is the best course of action to admit that you don't understand what they're going through, but they have your sympathy and support. The words "I feel your pain." Should only be spoken when you really have felt that pain.
I genuinely love how Deadpool asks "If you're determined that this is gonna be your last night on Earth, what do you want to do?" He wanted to give her the time of her life in case she didn't end up changing her mind about killing herself I love it
He's also a three dimensional character that isn't just a walking meme machine. Sure, he should be comedic in some way, but Wade is an actual person that feels other emotions. Unlike the the video game...
uhhh, no, that's most definitely the mixup there. Sociopaths don't understand emotions and empathy and the like, it's just something that doesn't click in them. They understand what it looks like, but not what it feels like. Psychopaths are those who are prone to violent or generally more outwards bursts of extreme emotion.
remember kids Psychopath has to do with psychology ie how the brain works (they can feel emotions) where as Sociopath is Social ie how you are raised where you are raised so on and so on these people feel emotions just mostly bad ones like anger rage hate and they rarely feel empathy of any kind

I love how deadpool tries so many things to help her before realizing he isn't the one to do it. He tries and fails instantly at the whole, superhero style of this thing. Then tells her to go to Parker industries because he knows his best buddy would jump out and catch her mid-air. Then tries to cheer her up with Hamilton. And finally realizes that not every problem can be solved by a superhero, just a person with good intentions.
Commanderclown8 i think he knew all along he wasn’t the person to help. He just tried to cheer her up, like you said, but he knew he couldn’t do it alone so he took her to the hospital, where actual professionals could help her. I think he just tried to get her to realize that there’s more things to enjoy in life than she knew.
Deadpool may be insane, but seeing this, seeing him go out of his way to buy the girl some more time, to get her help... It shows that even then, he still has humanity, and a heart.
Deadpool is most definitely not insane, not in my eyes at least. There's been many times where it's shown he does have a soft spot to help people. Especially children. Like Deadpool says in the movie: "I'm just a bad guy who kills even badder guys." He knows what he's doing at all times.
He might be a bit questionable and mean to everyone, but the only people he enjoys seeing die or suffer are people who deserve it. Like in Deadpool 1, the first thing he did in the shootout with Francis was rushing Negasonic behind cover since she's the only one vulnerable to being shot. He will never say it, but he's a really caring guy.
I like how even when making jokes, Deadpool was still trying to help her. Like, at surface level, he was just telling her to jump off Parker Industries instead, but I read that as he knows that Peter would be there to swing in and catch her if she had actually tried to jump.
I wonder how that conversating would have gone if she took his advice. Spiderman: "Deadpool A GIRL JUMPED off Parker Industries!" Deadpool: "Oh she survived? Good I could always could on you Spider!" Spiderman: "Yeah she told me you sent her that way. WHY?!" Deadpool: "Well look at me! Look at you! For the most part you're great at picking up girls. Had I tried, chances are I'd just cheer her on to hit a nice car."
deadpool is about breaking the 4th wall and being unkillable he just has a soft spot for suicide. the same way the hulk is about smashing and being strong but he has a soft spot for children and puppies(he wont smash them and puppies calms him down)
"I lay right there once at the edge of the rock. I was ready to jump, I was ever so lost, But this gentleman stopped and said something I never forgot." "Parker Industries is just a few blocks down."
"I thought him mad, I pushed him away I would not listen, but to my dismay, An embrace, his mouth opened to say, I was bitten by a sad radioactive clown" Fyi I'm not a poet 😂
the number one thing you should do with a friend who is suicidal is show them that you're still there for them but urge them to get proper professional help. send them the number for a hotline, assure them that you'll be there if they're too scared to make the first step. Being the emotional anchor isn't enough, they need to be able to find merit in their life that isn't just you. And it doesn't matter how good your intentions are: you won't be able to give them that. If their therapist tells them that their family situation is the problem, let them stay over. If they feel incredibly lonely, be there for them. If they're worried about their future prospects, encourage them. Be there for them. But don't be all they have, because that's incredibly unhealthy and completely antithetical to their recovery.
This was a brilliant approach to trying to help someone about to commit suicide. Taking them off-guard from their thoughts is a great way to redirect the place their thoughts are taking them.... And an especially dangerous place to go if you don't know what you're doing. Deadpool demonstrated that he was a lot smarter than he gave himself credit for. He was able to get her off his building, get her to watch a show to calm down and get back her grip on reality, and even take her to the hospital, ALL without her resisting or even knowing what he intent was. And after she's in a place where she can be reasoned with after winding down, he can talk to her about the situation. He even managed to get her to go into the hospital's entrance with him no less. Did he manipulate her? Certainly. Did he do it with the intent of helping her? Obviously. Did it work? Evidently. As someone who has themselves suffered with thoughts of suicide, Deadpool resonates with a unique energy in this. He gives off the outward personality that he's seeking to be amused, while his inner thoughts reflecting on this shows this suicide attempt hits close to home for him. He empathizes with what this random girl is going through, and takes that chance to help her make her way to a place where more experienced people who can use something better than a bunch of pills can actually get her out of that slump she's in. So yeah. I'd give Deadpool more credit on this. He's a lot smarter than he thinks he is, and is well-aware of the limits to high easily and to what effect he can help others. And in this short little bit, it shows without being grating, annoying, or simply depressing. And my hat's off to the two voice actors who decided to use their talents for this. It worked swimmingly!
all Marvel heros have moments like this... is just that directors believe these in deep character moments don't sell and "muh not family friendly market"
*Me realizing Deadpool is emphasizing jumping from Parker Industries because if she tried to jump from there Spiderman would probably save her/deal with her better than he could and he's well aware of it:*

I know that this is fictional, but this is wholesome. Because Deadpool, the merc with a mouth, in spite of finding pizza crust not being burnt to be a serious problem and making jokes, ten million percent of the time, he doesn't identify suicide as a laughing matter. He knows what it's like to feel purposeless. He tries to help in ways he knows how and realises "**sigh** yeah, this isn't working. I'm gonna try something else." I'm glad Stan Lee made this. I'm even more glad it was voiced.
@ Stan Lee makes every comic even the DC ones. Expect the Steve Ditko because I don't want to get my head torn off by a rampaging lawyer. Figuratively.
The thing I love the most is that this is canon: this is official material. It's something that promotes help for those who are struggling with mental health issues in a series were the main protagonist has mental health issues. Many people who have mental health issues would relate, and maybe even see that their is hope and that they can get help. It shows that Deadpool himself is so much more than just a crazy guy who loves sex, bloody violence, and chimichangas, and that he actually has a lot of depth to his character, and well...a decent heart underneath everything, even if he isn't the best person at being a hero in the traditional sense. This is why Deadpool will always have a place in my heart as one of my favorite superheroes (well...antiheroes, but still~).
@@tigerfang6063 antiheros do bad and good things in a bad way for usually good reasons. Bad stuff in a bad way is just villain. I don't think the joker counts as an antihero and that's his main thing.

Beautiful post, glad someone pointed that out.Good thing for people who worships these characters, allow their morals to become all jaded and muddy and even ok with extreme, morbid measures all in the name of their "hero" behaving like that. These heroes are not meant to be modeled after, you are meant to learn lessons from these stories and be entertained but they are in no way a role model to be followed, especially a character like Deadpool. Glad the writer isnt a fanboy himself and had the maturity and sense to write that
I seen another comment saying there was no 4th wall break in this comic which as we all know with wade is unheard of. But your comment made me think Maybe that's a very subtle 4th wall break
"I dont think you're crazy. You just need a little help, and I am not the guy to help you." I love this, he's very self aware that he's just a merc and not a psychologist. He *wants* to help but all he knows are jokes and shooty bang bang
I absolutely love this. For some reason, wholesome Deadpool really hits home. He's not all depravity and debauchery. That's just how he deflects his own issues. But, as much as he is an antihero, it's still got "hero" in the name. Godspeed, Wade Winston Wilson.
Deadpool never was "evil" or super chaotic. He's basically the true embodiment of an anti-hero. He does whatever he wants and nobody can stand in his way when he wants to achieve his goals. He has shown multiple times (in the movies and comic books) that he's willing to ignore the orders of people more powerful and influential than him just because he wants to help or because he has a clear goal in mind. He also has shown sacrifice before, he isn't heartless, he's just a little crazy. This comic actually fits very well with his character, showing basically who Deadpool really is. He has suffered, but instead of taking his anger out on the world, he helps others who are suffering.
Deadpool does have a lot of experience with depression, self-hate and suicide. He definitely knows what it's like. I mean, killing himself is a *norm* for him to a point he doesn't really think before shooting himself in the head or jumping down from a building headfirst. He just doesn't stay dead. Nowadays it may be because he really doesn't care due to being accustomed to it, but at some point of his life it was because of suicidal tendencies.
This is a great example of what it was like to read comics. You give the characters voices from who you’ve heard before in life. This might be what makes it click in your head that it’s true.
This is why Wade is my favorite antihero. He’s blunt. He knows what he’s doing. No matter how much he wants to do something, he knows that he has limits to what he can and can’t do, so he has to stop himself. He seems arrogant and self entitled but he’s really just a person who wants to feel important somehow. He knows he can’t really make a difference in others lives, so he tries to make one in his own the only way he can.
Yeah, I love that he usually acts like he has no idea what he's doing, but in these rare moments, he shows that he knows exactly what he's doing, and that there is a method to his madness
That is true He is my favorite character and humorous too But this made me cry so hard how that girl use to be me till I met my friend and she saved my life . She didn't act or do thing like Wade does but she saved my life before I ended

While I understand your point of actual characters being lost to media and Internet I don’t think it implies here, yes he is an awesome character who is really deep inside but he was also created to be a joke, or like a comic meme. He didn't act like her savior, he didn't force her to hospital... This is what any of us should do in that kind of situation (just don't steal or beat people up, kids xD) It hits a little harder that Ryan Reynolds himself admitted that he has some mental issues, or so the article said.
The best advice I've ever heard from a psychiatrist is that the best thing you can always do is think about something else. You can't always be happy, but you can always distract yourself.
@Black Stone i said probably, and also you cant help someone no matter how hard you try, when they dont accept that help, so they might get her in the building, but unless she wants their help, they sadly cant do anything except contact the police

I always come back watching this, or the comic where Superman stays and guide the victim to a solution days on end, or One punch man saving the jumper. Different characters, places, but each unique life lesson that all share the answer we're blinded by during our hard times. Despite being fictional people, seeing our characters deal with this situation both tells a interesting yet close to home story that's worth exploring if you're invested of the outcome.
I also suggest to you the comics (it s divided between two numbers. Originally presented as if it was something small and forgettable, but spoiler, it reappears) where Reed richards/Mr Fantastic does the same thing
Honestly, I expected Wade to annoy her enough that she stays alive just out of spite. But this is beautiful, it shows the side of Deadpool most people don't know about.
even though he was originally a pretty bad guy, he has evolved into a 'hero' who is more relatable than most, in fact the only marvel or even DC hero i identify with more only made one appearance, and even though in that appearance we learned he gained his powers by committing suicide and some mysterious gave him new life, we never learn his name...Then he gets killed by a falling jetfighter...
Think dialogue like this that makes me think anti heroes are "better" heroes when done right. They arent self righteous, they are usually broken people and can relate to people in need. Thats not to say normal heroes cant relate, but most are written to have been blinded by a sense of optimism that cant always be present to the harsh reality of life. Wade knows he doesn't have the answers or wisdom to help the girl, but he has enough heart to know someone else can and guides her. Thats something you rarely see in comics.

So he wiped his mind
This was actually a very interesting way to handle a "hero" trying to handle suicide, when were so used to seeing the famous "All Star Superman" version. And this was technically the most realistic way a regular person COULD help. What does one do when one wants to help, but knows they can't?
A. Mikey B. Deadpool and Superman are doing the same thing here in very different ways. They're both showing someone that they care in their own way to keep them from committing suicide. Superman show did by just listening and being there. And the Deadpool did it in his own more unique way.
Mr. Fantastics is a good one too. The man tries to jump off a building, he stops him, finds out the man has cancer, and things happen. Here's a link to the scans. imgur.com/gallery/jelby
Both accomplish in saying something about their respective characters though, which is part of the point. The All Star Superman version was written to show that Superman is the type of person to still care about a depressed girl about to commit suicide even when he's a being with cosmic-level powers and overpowering supervillains to worry about, on top of the fact that he himself is dying in that comic. The Deadpool version shows how deep down, Deadpool is a good person, and in this age of cynicism he might have the brand of care and comedy to handle a situation like this well.

@@OmegaQuinn that's not ruining him at all, he should be crazy and insane but the idea that "Deadpool is whatever we want him to be" is what has turned a once great consistent comic character with an emotional core into a joke and a meme who's personality is decided by a coin flip. Even the anti-hero Deadpool can be touching. He may kill people but when it comes to suicide, he'll do whatever he can to help. In his own way of course, but in the end he will help someone in need. Whatever it takes. Love you Deadpool.
I find it interesting how wade can turn his insanity on and off. In this moment he’s still himself, even outwardly telling the girl he doesn’t care (yet) if she jumps. Makes him a far more interesting character that’s for sure.

Desmond Lavin Not really. He does care about other people, but he sucks at expressing that care and he doesn't know how to improve. Being a jerk has become like a coping mechanism for him, and it doesn't help to have cancer, brain damage and awareness about his life as a comic book character.
This hits home. I've spent years trying to talk a friend out of her suicidal thoughts, and I realized I was not enough, and only recently managed to convince her to get professional help. The fact he did not save her himself because he knew he could not, it made me believe I made the right choice.
I hope she's doing better, and I hope your mental health is doing well. As someone who's been on both sides of the same coin, talking someone down can be exhausting...
Professional help really makes a difference, you can see it in the Beth Thomas case for example just how much it can make a difference in someone's life. I hope she gets better
It's wholesome how he saves her his way. First do some jokes to distract her, when she's distracted tell her they can go somewhere else (Hamilton. Good choice!),and finally just take her to the people who can and will help her out. Deadpool is fully aware he's the worst choice to help,at least in this case, but he's smart enough to know who's better than him at it. Plus even if she went to Parker Industries instead you cannot tell me Deadpool didn't know Peter was there and could take care of it too.
The definition of a hero is not a perfect angel. It is a messed up person who still tries to help when they can and should. Deadpool fits that category better than anyone else.
You know who also fits your definition of a hero? 100+ villains: fictional and non-fictional. It would amaze you to know how many despicable and disturbing acts have been done by people who think they are helping someone/something. It's why the term "self-righteous" exists.

He truly is a good person. Despite all the crap that’s happened to him.
I love what he says to her before they go see Hamilton. "I'm sure a real hero would have something profound to say to you to make you feel better instantly, but... I'm all you got."
That right there paired with how he helps her by taking her to the hospital is what makes Wade a true hero. A real isn't someone who can say or do something, and that'll make everything okay. A real hero is someone who knows how to be powerless and still makes a difference in someone's life.

Deadpool is most definitely not insane, not in my eyes at least. There's been many times where it's shown he does have a soft spot to help people. Especially children. Like Deadpool says in the movie: "I'm just a bad guy who kills even badder guys." He knows what he's doing at all times.
He might be a bit questionable and mean to everyone, but the only people he enjoys seeing die or suffer are people who deserve it. the number one thing you should do with a friend who is suicidal is show them that you're still there for them but urge them to get proper professional help. send them the number for a hotline, assure them that you'll be there if they're too scared to make the first step.

He’s a “chaotic good”. Unpredictable and kind of insensitive to the “rules”, but at the end of the day he always does what he thinks is right.

Deadpool does have a lot of experience with depression, self-hate and suicide. He definitely knows what it's like. He distracted her from being upset. He made her feel comfortable and safe. And then he got her professional help. He didn't act like her savior, he didn't force her to hospital... This is what any of us should do in that kind of situation (just don't steal or beat people up, kids xD)
It hits a little harder that Ryan Reynolds himself admitted that he has some mental issues, or so the article said.
That's Sad.😟😞

I like this side of superheros, helping out normal people with normal problems, not always fighting world ending threats. To me it makes the hero's and the world a little more human/realistic
Not a superhero the man kills anything and does not care and cares, he's a anti hero, he would kill you just to get some info and then save your mother at the same time but also accidently making her suffer in the process by not being dead.
@@emrahalien2972 the deadpool we've seen in movies usually kills only the violent ones or the ones responsible for some form of violence AFAIK. The "you" here in your reply doesn't refer to normal people. He's an anti-hero just because of the fact that he himself is not a good example of what a hero should be given his lust for violence and crude language.
@@KantHandleThis your whole point is useless when in the game he kills superheros AND in the comics is no better then a villain or a hero, and my own line is "kills anything and does not care and cares" The line "anti hero" means lacking hero attributes.. like moral integrity, Selflessness etc.. he lacks everything like that not cause he's goofy his actual character is not the movie, that's rewritted idea of what he is, Making him better then he is makes people root for him.
I mean like bro there's many heroes with " lust for violence and crude language." I always come back watching this, or the comic where Superman stays and guide the victim to a solution days on end, or One punch man saving the jumper. Different characters, places, but each unique life lesson that all share the answer we're blinded by during our hard times. Despite being fictional people, seeing our characters deal with this situation both tells a interesting yet close to home story that's worth exploring if you're invested of the outcome.

Miles JD Franklin congrats u r first
Deadpool the best in my book. So i agree.
Miles JD Franklin and when he doesn’t want to be. He’s still awesome.
even though he was originally a pretty bad guy, he has evolved into a 'hero' who is more relatable than most, in fact the only marvel or even DC hero i identify with more only made one appearance, and even though in that appearance we learned he gained his powers by committing suicide and some mysterious gave him new life, we never learn his name...Then he gets killed by a falling jetfighter...
Dream Wolf well even when he was a very messed up serial killer he would never let a kid die
Interesting idea, pal, and it's makes much sense too
I suppose another way to say what you're saying is "Heroes speak like characters, while anti heroes speak like people."

Regular person, *proceeds to knockout slumlords to watch a fancy play/steal a motorcycle* I get where u gettin at but I couldnt help myself

This hits home. I've spent years trying to talk a friend out of her suicidal thoughts, and I realized I was not enough, and only recently managed to convince her to get professional help. The fact he did not save her himself because he knew he could not, it made me believe I made the right choice.
