I knew about the scene of Superman stopping the kid from taking their life, but I wasn't before aware it was while he was dying, which makes it even better Realistically, it's one kid, the world would go on without them. Superman has only hours left to live, one may think he has more important things to be doing. But to Superman, that one life *is* important, enough so that he takes the time out of his final days to save it *This* is Superman
sometimes... you can't save everyone. so you do what you can even if that means just...saving...one life. Just like Kal's parents did when they realized they couldn't save Krypton.
It's not realistic according to a 60 year old emo teenager who makes stories about coal powered spaceships being defeated by medieval subsistence farmers.
Honestly, All Star Superman is one of my favourite Superman stories, if not my favourite one. I'm not a massive Superman fan, but I love this story. He could have spent his final days with Lois. He could have asked Supergirl to take care of Metropolis in his absence. He could have asked any member of the Justice League to do so either. And because he is who he is, they would have agreed, as it would be the least they could do for the world's greatest Superhero. He could have spend his final weeks and days with the ones he loves and taken his imminent death as an opportunity to finally put himself first, just this once, as he has more than earned it. But instead, he uses it an an opportunity to really show the world how strong a person's character is. Even though he's an alien, he shows more humanity than any person. He shows compassion and prioritizes the wellbeing of others above himself. He put any plans he made and anything he may have wanted to do for himself second, to put the people of Metropolis (and the world) first. It really reinforces the idea that Superman, despite all his strength and power, is simply a man who only wants to do the right thing; and finds joy (and possibly peace) in the act of helping others.
This is why Superman is a icon and be on of hope. Even tho he has godly strength and powers he still is human going out of his way to help and support all those in need

Teenage girl on top of a building about to commit suicide Superman: "You're much stronger than you think you are." Homelander: "Why don't you show a little follow through, Chelsea?"
There's a very similar scene in the 2000s JSA book. An alternate version of Superman gets transported into the main universe, ans the Justice Society has its reasons for being suspicious of him, they tell him to wait in the meeting room as they discuss. He does just that, for a bit, but he then comes crashing through the door. He blows past Green Lantern's constructs (which are magic btw), outruns the Flash, and in general manages to escape the small army that is the JSA, all because using his super hearing, he heard a girl trying to jump off to her death, and he needed to get to her first. One of the best scenes in any comic I've read, period
I'm tired of Superman Being Depicted as "Evil guy who's literally Stronger than God" (The Injustice Games did it fine though), I want the next Live Action Superman to be more like Christopher Reeves, just a pure good guy
Superman: *Saves kid from committing suicide* Homelander: 'Instructions unclear. Threatened the kid to jump off the building after ranting about my birthday and how tough things are for me. How do I proceed from here?'
At least Superman chooses to spend his last moments still being a good person and saving people. Unlike people like Iron Man, who started partying, drinking and flirting when he found out he was going to die soon.
The big problem Superman presents is that he makes everything trivial. That's why the only things you can really do with him after enough time has passed is to either kill him (literally or effectively) or turn him into a villain. I've always liked the All Star run because it chose to kill him in a dignified way, with character development. Realistically, the Death And Return of Superman should have just been The Death of Superman, but discussing THAT issue is a whole essay on it's own. Either way, I'll always agree with everyone that this was Superman at his optimistic peak. Nonwithstanding the future timeline where he comes back anyway.
The thing about Superman and Captain America that edgelords don't understand is that they aren't naive. They aren't "boy scouts" because they aren't deep enough to understand the darkness or something. It's a hard choice and they make it over and over again, to stand in the light.
That Boy is actually a Girl, and they would bring that character and this incident into the main DC Universe. She would go on to become a world renowned Pop Star who could connect with people by sharing her battle with depression. She would then be targeted by a Super Villain and Superman would briefly fake her death.

I love this iteration of Superman, he's what Superman was always supposed to be: the most "human" being on earth. Despite him not being human, there's no one more human than Superman.
My favorite superhero of all time no doubt
So basically, we are living in a universe made by Superman.
😦
EL ELYON created this universe, not these idols that neither see nor hear, So no absolutely not.

and now we have Superman being told not to save children by his father. And that's one of the less damaging character assassinations done to heroes.
Legends are only immortal if they aren't corrupted. Heroes need to be defended just as much as heroes defend humanity.
I do love this but I love more the way Deadpool saved a girl from ending herself. Pretty much got her to be his sidekick for the day and said if at the end of the day you still feel like it's the only choice he won't stop her. But then after all the wacky adventures of the day he says they just gotta make one last stop and he takes her to a mental health clinic and asks her to give it a chance and she does
Ironically, I think SOME of the best Deadpool stories are the same kinds of stories as the best Superman ones. Admittedly, for Wade Wilson, it's far, far, far harder to be a good person, but that's where the tension lies.
Favorite bit is when Deadpool says if she stills wants to go through with it, jump from Parker industries. Since if she does, spider-man would catch her, and Deadpool thinks spidey has a better chance to talk her down if he failed.
This is what Superman is truly about. Helping people. Not Injustice Superman with his: MuRdEr Is GoOd
I mean, that is the point isn't it? A complete 180° of his morals? But of course big blue boy scout will always be the best!

These are my favorite parts of comics. Small moments where the hero stops everything just to save one person
Batman: don’t worry best buddy, once we get you in the Lazarus pit you’ll be good as new
And with a Set of your very own black-and-grey Robin suit.

Superman: don't do it you have so much to live for

To me Superman in the comics and when they get him right in other media has always been a symbol of hope. The idea of things getting better and the world becoming better because of Superman influence. It just makes sense to me he would literally be symbol of hope for a person who had none left. I wish there was a symbol of hope in this world just like Superman because hope is a priceless gift.
We need more wholesome superman not the evil superman online
This is one Superman scene that I really want to see done in live action. It really shows how he can instill hope into anyone and everyone. A beacon of light for those even in the darkest point in their life. A true super-man.

It was a whole different story with homelander
One of the greatest versions of Superman ever made
One of the best comic books ever
That’s fucking the coolest thing I’ve ever heard of Superman doing
Superman isn't weak to magic, he just has no inherent resistance to it.
@@shis1988 I know. I didn't say or imply he was weak to it. But Alan Scott's constructs made of magical fire would undoubtedly hurt even Superman
This stuff still makes me cry. Our world doesnt deserve a superman. But we need to do all we can to be as close to be as him as we can.
Superman: Things will get better
Homelander: Just do it
My favourite aspect of superman is that it’s not the powers that makes him, it’s his human aspect of him
Evil Homelander be like:
I can confirm that world did not explode without Superman.
This story helps me remember that Injustice Superman is just a product of parallel universes and he mostly isn't that bad in other universes
Nice glasses intro!😅 this is such a beautiful and perfect story, probably the best Superman miniseries to date.
But you forgot the best part, he finally got Lex Luthor to see the world through his eyes.
This and homelander are such good characters they may have the same powers but one is the greatest person and one is the worst person
homelander on the other hand: JUMP
Superman: saves girl from jumping

A world without Superman is one I don't want to live in. Ever since the creators brought him into this world, they brought hope back into the world.
I'm tired of Superman Being Depicted as "Evil guy who's literally Stronger than God" (The Injustice Games did it fine though), I want the next Live Action Superman to be more like Christopher Reeves, just a pure good guy
I've read that All Star Superman is a source of inspiration for James Gunn's Upcoming film.

At least Superman chooses to spend his last moments still being a good person and saving people. Unlike people like Iron Man, who started partying, drinking and flirting when he found out he was going to die soon.
Damn that ending was sad
Okay, in the short time of reading the suicidal kid panel, I legit started tearing up.

You know, it would be kinda funny if someone made a fan comic of Superman being an Emo teenager
"it's a choice"
I don't believe it is...
That Boy is actually a Girl, and they would bring that character and this incident into the main DC Universe. She would go on to become a world renowned Pop Star who could connect with people by sharing her battle with depression. She would then be targeted by a Super Villain and Superman would briefly fake her death.
I’m-definitely-not-crying😭😭
This is the Superman we love.
