- Two years ago I made a video with this BMW 530D, talking about if you should buy a CAT N car. While I think my overall view hasn’t changed, we’ve lived with this for two years and have plenty of experience I think is worth sharing.

The biggest problem you haven't mentioned in your video is that owning one can raise your insurance policy as they class them as higher risk, so In my opinion its not worth it unless the vehicle is literally half price to purchase, which they never are.
Sometimes the paint they use to respray the car after a collision and cause sensor issues
i have a CAT N 2011 audi a6 with clean history so it appares no damage but it had only door damage got 2 doors and its sweet only had it for about 6 months though

@@ollyhainey5573 i still have it been sweet only had to do gearbox sensor repair but its got the 3.0L superchared and dl501 DSG if your getting an a6 I recommend trying to find a ZF8 version but that can be quite hard but overall great car recommend it

@@ollyhainey5573 as long as you had no damage on the quarter panel then your fine or minimal damage like I had otherwise you might be able to tell but if you don’t mind the tiniest difference of the shade of paint then as long as you got a bargain that’s good
I’m looking to buy a cat N m235i. I’ve been advised it only had a small bump on the back in a car park. It’s £5000 cheaper than a non CAT car. Very tempted
lol good luck with that mate. They could have had the major damage fixed and told insurers only door damaged.
@@TheLondonCyclist I’ve paid for check online seen bump pics and repair report. Was during covid and was written off when it wouldn’t usually. Bought it lol. 12 months warranty and breakdown cover - can’t complain
