I am in the process of restoring my 1964 Ford 4000 Select-O-Speed with power steering. I have owned it for 20 years. It will be for sale when finished, unless someone wants to purchase and finish it themselves. I had the engine (bare block) bored +.020, crank ground and polished and complete head/valve job done by professionals (Met's Machine Shop: engine overhaul). The rest I have done myself (I was a professional Heavy Industrial Maintenance Tech for 40 years). I have all the receipts, logged the specs, and kept all the parts that have been replaced (many in good condition: pistons, pins, main and rod bearings, etc). I purchased 4 Ford Shop and Service Manuals as guides. Many of the parts, including the engine have been primered and ready for finish paint, which will happen in a few weeks. The transmission, rear axle (assembled), hood, fenders and wheels have not been stripped for repainting yet. All painted parts are being stripped to the bare metal. I can provide photos to anyone interested.
I have a 1963 Ford 4000 Select-O-Speed that I have owned for 20 years; in the restoration process now; about half done. I have completely rebuilt the engine (Mets' Machine Shop in Mansfield, Ohio), the head machined and all new valves, many other new parts. I am at a point to start reassembling the tractor, but the transmission input shaft needs replaced first. I am 70 and I just don't have the money or the initiative any more to work on it every day to finish it. Maybe it is time to just part it out and be done with it. If interested, I will share all the photos with you and all the specification data: before and after specs, as well as photos. I have every receipt for parts, tools, paint etc that I have thus far spent on it. The engine alone was almost $1,800,00. It is assembled now and looks great.
Nice looking job, but it looks like the 1965 - up blue. The '63/'64 blue was a little lighter - could be the lighting I guess, but it looks too dark.
Beautiful. I had a 64 4000 gas with just a 4 speed transmission. She was a tough old girl though. No doubt she's still running where ever she is.
Awesome restoration!
Nice
Beautiful job
I'm needing to know where to change the Transmission fluid.
I have a ford 871 select O speed. Where can i get parts for transmission??
Really nice restoration! It looks s little odd with the turf tires. Would be really nice to have the factory front bumper on it.
OK, how much do you want for this tractor? I will buy it.
I sold it 4 years ago. Thanks
