So interesting hearing your point of view from the US. I'm a student midwife here in the UK and it seems like you guys have a lot to fight for control over your birth journey. Birth centres and home-birth are part of our normal national health service here so I guess considered more 'normal/usual'. Super inspirational to hear you standing up for your body and your experience! lots of love from England xx
I'm not a parent and don't plan on being one, but totally agree with your thoughts on childbirth - human beings have been having babies just fine for thousands of years, it's literally what our bodies were designed for. Best of luck to you on this journey!
I had my first two in a hospital and just had my daughter in a birthing center this summer. If I could go back, I’d have all 3 in a birthing center. You’re amazing, you’ve got this!! ✨
My son had the same color room. I loved the dark grey and accented it with red and green. Had I had a girl, I would have done red and pink. I’m very anti blue for boy and pink for girl. I didn’t tell anyone the sex of my baby because I didn’t want heaps of blue things. Ha. Just a side note: sex is related to what sexual organs your child is born with (male, female, intersex) where gender is what characteristics your child or a person identifies with. Often people use the terms interchangeably, but they are different. I know you can have the birth you desire. You’re already on the right path of seeking knowledge and advocating for your choices. Your body, your baby, your birth. I would say 70% of my patients deliver naturally without medication or epidural. Most use water for labor and/or birth. You CAN do it! And check out some natural and water births on UA-cam. Tons of gorgeous and heart exploding videos.
From someone who’s been through labor, it’s great to have a birth plan and idea of how you want things to go, but be flexible and open minded because things can change quickly.
Kitty, you have a great perspective on childbirth and it is going to get you far in you labor and delivery! You are setting yourself up for a great birthing experience. I’m one of those crazy people who actually looks forward to being able to give birth again, not that I’m anywhere near ready to be pregnant again as I’m caring for a 6 month old!
Congrats thats so exciting! I would love a child someday and I really love your perspective on all of these questions on how you are going to do things. Love your videos they are my fav!
One thing I did when I gave birth, is to ask the Midwife to limit exams because I did want some privacy and to be more relaxed. Although I was induced and I did get an epidural ( I have a very very low pain threshold), this really helped me to focus and relax because people weren't all in my grill constantly.
You can have a natural/ unmediated birth in a hospital. It’s just that the environment of a hospital isn’t always the most conducive for one. It can be done though. I have done it.
Annika and Ana summed up what I was going to stay! Natural birth doesn't mean not at a hospital, but not all hospitals are as dedicated to your natural birth process as midwives and birth centers are, at least in the US.
When it's time to push, push like you're pooping!! First time mom's try to push with tummy muscles which is ironic because those basically don't exist. Push like you're pooping. Congratulations!!
I just had a homebirth. I'm not a hoppy at all!!! Lol Honesty, if you and baby are healthy, you don't have to 'do' anything, the body does it all. And the baby works with you! I gave birth to a 3,2kg girl, no tearing, no trauma, no doctor. You will do great
i've never been interested in having children of my own, but following your pregnancy is so interesting to me! i agree with a lot of your opinions about it and can't wait to hear more :)
Good for you for knowing your birth plan and being dedicated! It is such an empowering feeling knowing what your body is fully capable of. I’ve had 2 home births and it is truly amazing. Enjoy this time! It’s so sweet.
What you said about wanting to feel like you are running the show during your labour and delivery...and about not having your privacy invaded etc...stick to your guns on that!!! I felt the exact same way when I was pregnant with my first (I’m in Canada btw) I didnt have the option of a birth centre. During labour and delivery I HAD to stand up for myself and my baby numerous times, and knowing what I believed in (like you, I feel there are too many unnecessary interventions) before hand was really helpful!
I had two natural births, and it's totally worth it. My first I had to fight more for what I wanted (second was with a midwife in a birth center). If you learn proper techniques to manage contractions, stay focused and let your body do what it is supposed to, you'll be great!!!
I’m 25 weeks and a first timer as well! I’m using a birth center as well. Super excited to follow your journey! Totally agree with your thoughts on natural birth.
Have you ever tried cooking kale? I don't love it raw, but it's sooo good sauteed. My favorite way to cook it is to braise it (aka cook it in chicken or vegetable stock) so it soaks up a lot of flavor.
I put them in my smoothies during the winter months, when I just don't crave them as much. Or I like to add massaged and marinated kale to buddha bowls! So good!
Definitely add to smoothies! Add a couple handfuls of spinach to a smoothie with banana and peanut butter. I give these to our nieces and nephews and call them “Hulk Juice.” 😉 Also try making pesto pasta. Just bend together some spinach or kale, basil, lemon juice, garlic, soaked walnuts or cashews, some nutritional yeast, and a little almond milk to thin it out. Salt and pepper to taste, toss with pasta with some sundried tomatoes and hemp hearts if you like. Delicious and nutritious!
I did the same thing. My husband and I started dating at 20 years old in college. We traveled, got married and bought a house in our 20s and had kids at 30 and 34. I wish you the best.
I've had 1 induced and 1 natural birth, my natural birth was by far the better birth! Practice your breathing and relaxing those muscles so by the time the contractions come, you can easily get into that mindset. You can do it!
I had my baby at a birth center about at year and a half ago and it was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but I got through it and don’t regret it at all! You already have the right mindset going into natural birth. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
My sister had a home birth and she always told the baby what day she wanted it to come and what time of day, and she had every part of it that she wanted to happen.
When I have a baby, I desperately want a comfortable environment, probably a birth center. Definitely not a hospital. BUT I want that painkiller ASAP. I'm such a weakling with pain and 3 kidney stones have proven, I cannot do it haha.
I’ve never had kidney stones, but I’ve had gall bladder attacks that were a worse experience than being in labor. Labor is a longer and more intense process, but it is not generally acute pain. The contractions come and go, it’s pain with a purpose not pain signally something is wrong. There nothing wrong with having painkillers if you want them but you’re probably tougher than you think.
A more prepared momma to be, I do not think exists! 100% agree with you on your decision for a natural birth and avoiding the hospital if you can. Totally true that they force speedy deliveries that are very often unnecessary. I’m a nurse, and do not agree with a lot that’s done in healthcare. Pitocin makes not only labor so much harder (as in - more intense), but I’m sure it must have adverse effects on the baby. The less chemicals that can be given to that brand new being, the better!! Sincerely hope all goes as planned!! 🙏🏻
I think you have such a great attitude! I spent a lot of time researching natural child birth and went through birthing class and i felt that information really put me at ease. I also spoke with other friends who had natural child births and that really helped. I was supposed to have the baby at a birth center but i was two days before 36 weeks and had to go into L&D. I sobbed when i found out but the birth center was literally across the hall and my midwives were able to deliver the baby without any intervention. I was disappointed in not having the birth center (and the hot tub 😭) but i had to be laid back about it and ended up having a long but good labor. One of the things that really helped me was that I read or heard somewhere that 400,000 women give birth everyday. I liked thinking about all the women who were in labor and our connection and how it connects you to the women who have come before you. It was a humbling and empowering.
If your pregnancy is going fine a natural birth will be a great choice. I agree that everyone has a choice. I just feel women have been made to feel that a hospital and doctor is the safest way to birth and midwife aren't prepared enough. I had a midwife and had natural childbirths. It is a very empowering experience. Women's bodies have been formed to created life and to birth a human life. It's one of the many precious gift given that women have. A good midwife will support you through the birth because your body is doing the work. It will speak to you as your baby tries to be born. I've seen doctor look at computers and charts to see where a woman is in her labor. If things don't happen as they want them to they will induce the mother's labor, frightening her by saying the baby needs to be rushed out because it's stressing. This isn't good for the mom to be worried and also the doctor has taken control over the baby and mom's rights to their birth. We aren't baby machines popping out babies a minute. This is a human life coming into this world that should be welcomed into this world peacefully and with love. My midwife made me feel calm and supported as I gave birth. It wasn't easy, but it was my labor and my child was born around the people who truly love her.
Hey Mandi, just want to point out that there's plenty of UA-camrs still making content with kids. And give Kitty a break! Having a kid is a huge responsibility, and also a very personal choice.
Mandi Lee Why do you have to be a troll? Children are not a negative thing. If you don't like them don't have them- but your comment is unnecessary. UA-cam isn't the end all be all of life. And should she ever decide to stop her channel after having children who cares. Its her life. if you don't like mom UA-camrs than unsubscribe.
If you don’t know her you have to search @ellelindquist channel here on UA-cam! She is an amazing mom with two boys had with totally natural births!!!! ;)))) Amazing content on motherhood and natural birth!

Thank you! I think Europe is far ahead of the US when it comes to normalizing birth!
former midwife here......you got this .....great attitude. babies are born not delivered

I really like the color of the baby's room...very soothing! And I think you'll do great with a natural birth. Sending you lots of positive vibes 👍🏾

I totally agree

Congrats on your new baby!
Hi Kitty, you have such a lovely outlook on life!
Congrats thats so exciting! I would love a child someday and I really love your perspective on all of these questions on how you are going to do things. Love your videos they are my fav!
I have had 3 successful natural homebirths! Love midwifery care. It's the best!
One thing I did when I gave birth, is to ask the Midwife to limit exams because I did want some privacy and to be more relaxed. Although I was induced and I did get an epidural ( I have a very very low pain threshold), this really helped me to focus and relax because people weren't all in my grill constantly.
I've heard of so many women being bullied into doing birth in ways they didn't want to. So sad
Would you be able to make a video on returning to work with a newborn?!
I thought natural birth just meant no drugs? Didn’t realize that meant not in a hospital
I believe you're right, Kitty was just saying that for privacy/related reasons, she doesn't want to give birth in a hospital.
You can have a natural/ unmediated birth in a hospital. It’s just that the environment of a hospital isn’t always the most conducive for one. It can be done though. I have done it.

Loved hearing your thoughts currently about your pregnancy. You got this!
Good for you for knowing your birth plan and being dedicated! It is such an empowering feeling knowing what your body is fully capable of. I’ve had 2 home births and it is truly amazing. Enjoy this time! It’s so sweet.
You can do this! I totally understand what you're saying and agree 100% (as a fellow woman who never gave birth)
What you said about wanting to feel like you are running the show during your labour and delivery...and about not having your privacy invaded etc...stick to your guns on that!!! From one UppaBaby family to another, you are going to love that stroller!
seriously though - that stroller is my very favourite baby item!
I despise leafy greens! I gave tried SO hard to like them but I just don’t. Any tips for getting the right nutrients anyway? ❤️
Heather Grugan put them in smoothies with fruit, you won't taste them :)

Totally makes sense 🤗 I feel like it's going to be a boy 💙 Hope you have a smooth and healthy rest of pregnancy! xx

Do you plan to introduce your baby on UA-cam? Show him/her as they grow up?

We have the same stroller. You will love it! :)
CONGRATS! Happy for you guys!
Of course you can do it! 😊
You can do this!!
I think it is boy too!
You'll do just fine.

I'm very excited to be under the care of amazing midwives!! I'm also looking into a doula because so many people have recommended them!
Well, doctors are trained to intervene in serious situations like preeclampsia which midwives do not have proper medical training on
Another youtuber lost to having children. 😒
