I now use StartAllBack and have made my Start Menu and Taskbar pretty much like Windows 10. I can now use Windows 11 without having lost any productivity features.
I use explorerpatcher, I prefer to have the start that opens directly in the section all the apps, instead of the windows icon on the left with the apps in the center. I hope one day they will become compatible
Excellent presentation. And you ALWAYS have the uninitiated listener in mind when you show ALL the different steps and/ or menu or options to click before and their effects after. LOVE YOUR STYLE and delivery in all your videos. Keep up the GREAT work you do. B Bisignano 👍❤️
personally, I love having the taskbar icons in the middle, but I hate having the start menu in the middle as well. I'd love if there was a way to change JUST the start menu to the left on not the actual icons
Nice tutorial, you hv a good confident voice. Everything was self explanatory when i switched to win 11 this month. I really wanted my calander to start from Sunday (in win 11 week starts from Monday,) which made things confusing. No tutorial on internet either. Finally figured it out today.
I don't get why we got to pin apps in start menu. we got desktop for easy shortcut launch. I personally would want the start menu to display all apps list as default, can it be done?
Thanks @TechGumbo, this has been so useful---please do more for windows 11 as you can see from comments by other users we are all walking in the wild with this one
Can Toolbars be added to the Taskbar in Windows 11 (like what is in W-10)? It is one feature I use continually to get through my folders to my files quickly.
@@BrettInTech Now if they would allow the taskbar to be docked on the left side of the screen/monitor. Nice video...Thanks, but I'm staying with my W-10 to the end.
@@BrettInTech I should have noted to have the taskbar docked either right or left vertically. To my knowledge, the whole Taskbar can only be docked on the bottom or top of the monitor, not vertically per the sides. Maybe in the future?
This has been a great help to me so far, I am trying to change my start menu colour but my start and task bar option is not highlighted so I can click on it to change the colour, anyone have any suggestions on hoe to this now??????
Hello I am partially sighted and find the Windows 11 start menu icons difficult to see. I love the Windows 10 large colourful tiles. This is my main reason for avoiding Windows 11 Is there any way I can get Windows 11 start panel to look like Windows 10 start panel?
no option to choose a fullscreen start menu like in windows 10? then i pass mircosoft, iam not doing backsteps because you decide some thing have to be different from no on and force me to scroll in order to klick on the app that i want to use
Pinned apps on start is really a silly concept. If I wanted to pin something I would just put it on the Taskbar, where I could get to it in one click instead of two
Excellent, concise overview. Thumbs up. HOWEVER a GIGANTIC THUMBS DOWN for Microsoft! Unbelievable how utterly lame this "new improved" Start menu is. Windows 10 Start had some obvious deficiencies but rather than improving on that system, they trashed it and went with this abomination. Truly pathetic...
I really like the theme used at the beginning of this video. Where's it from? I don't see it in the Microsoft store themes but maybe I'm missing it. Thanks.
On windows 10, there was an item on the task bar showing the weather, temperature and some news headlines. I cant find that in windows 11 and it didnt install after upgrade. where can I find this to add it? thanks
Am I the only one that is driven crazy that in Windows 11 they removed the right click app shortcuts in the start menu and they only work if on the taskbar? The shortcuts like for instance with a browser being able to right click and open a private/incognito window, right clicking the Windows store and pressing library to go straight to the update page. No matter where I look on the internet there is nothing addressing this issue.
Sometimes the icons disappear or are greyed out. This has happened to me 3 times already. There's a power shell command that brings them back but I prefer to put them back from the apps list. No one has commented if the command works or not and I'm worried it'll screw something up. Big pain.
Apparently we lost the snipping tool & print screen functions in the upgrade to Windows 11. So far all the videos I've seen don't work, please help if you can. Thank you.
these are one of the things that i really don't understand about Microsoft. Im sure they have bunch of ppl from mit harvard etc and yet they decided not to add folder function or group/page function on start up menu which kind of exists on windows 10 but now removed completely on windows 11. WHY??????????????
How did they go from customizable menu size, customizable apps icon size, grouping apps with customizable names,.... to this shit? A generic "all apps" display that has no grouping and can only display 18 apps icon at a time?
So you cant resize and slideshow animations for apps like spotify and netflix are gone wtf! windows 10 support should be extended past 2025 Imo especially considering they claimed it be the last OS.
Hi Techgumbo, I'm using Linux Ubuntu 18.04 and I generally prefer it to windows. However there is one problem that is driving me insane. The scroll bar has no arrow at the top or bottom. When I try to scroll through my music or photos or Libre Office documents or any other files the scroll bar has no arrows so it is really difficult and awkward to scroll especially with a really long worded document like my stories I write using Libre Office. I have searched the internet for "how to add arrows to scroll bar in ubuntu" but I can't find any clear information anywhere on how to do this. It is driving me insane and I want to go back to using windows just because of this one single thing.... Please help. Is there some simple way of adding arrows to my scroll bar?
Thinkpad with UHD 620 graphics. Start menu animation is laggy. Wtf? I need Rtx graphic for windows??😂 Windows works good and fast on my laptop, official update and all system requirements ok. Why animations laggy?
It doesn't really look like linux is a lot worse it looks like MacOS environment with touches of Gnome and KDE ofcourse with ads, the ultimate plagiarism. If i wanted a Mac i would have buy one Microsoft, the same stands also for the Linux Environments i mentioned.
windows 11 has yet again destroyed its start menu... Making more clicks to get to the program we want. Fortunately there is programs that can fix it. for under $5. I like window 11, but the start menu blows! I just want to open my damn program, with out a lot of navigation...
Inability to move the taskbar to the top with left-aligned Start menu without having to use third-party apps = never using Win 11 until I'm forced to when Win 10 is no longer supported. Period.
Honestly, the recommendation menu is way too big, and hide everything else with this boring and confusing scrolling option to see other icons. What a mess!
The fact that you can not create categories sections like you can in Win 10 tells me Microsoft ux has failed miserably. Why take away such a valuable feature. smh
Installed Win 11 and immediately returned to 10. This start menu is useful for those who use the PC as an ornament. When I sit in front of the screen I move from memory: with Win10 I have all my apps grouped by family (game, work, utility, music, video, etc.). A real crap they combined at Microsoft !!!! I'm so annoyed by all they allow us to manage pinned apps and folders. It's so stupid and unproductive. Such a small space and such a pain in the A$$ to manage

would love to be able to GROUP pinned icons in the start menu like in windows 10. Like group the icons on any modern phone OS, or iPad...
No kidding. I have a hundred apps, this new layout is useless to all but basic users.
Yep, I'm looking for a start menu replacement for that very thing (plus moving the taskbar to the top of the screen).
thats a thing in the new insider build

It makes no sense why they removed vertical alignment of the Taskbar. Hopefully that and other deprecated features get added back in soon.
They removed resizable start menu feature and also the taskbar ! Microsoft going back to windows 8 days now

I'd love to be able to have the widgets show on a second monitor rather than slide in from the left of the #1 monitor

How can you nest programs to help organize? For example all Microsoft Office products in button that can expand when you click on it.
How did you get the outlines around your settings?

Go to Settings > Personalization > Themes. Click on Desktop icon settings in the right panel, uncheck the Recycle bin box, and click OK.
