    I've owned two brand new Cummins trucks. On both of them, the original oil filter was installed by the boneheads on the Cummins line with dry gaskets and at least 50 ft-lbs of torque. Fortunately, that was back when you could still get at the filter with the cup style wrench. But it still took a 24" cheater bar, and the gasket squeaked loudly for at least the first full turn. Why can't those idiots follow the instruction printed right on the side of the f%$kin filter??? I've been changing oil for 40 years....they NEVER leak when done correctly!

    Changed oil in heavy equipment for twenty years. When they would get stuck I would just hammer a pry bar through the filter and turn it. After I changed my bosses pick up truck oil, as he started to drive home, sometimes I would say, “Dang, I don’t remember tightening up the oil filter tight”

    What about the drain plug gasket?? Does it need to be replaced? If so, what size is it

    • @TDRAuto
      @TDRAuto  8 місяців тому +2

      OEM drain plug has a rubber embedded on the edges, no gasket is required. Just inspect and replace when needed.

      oil is better these days and made for extended change intervals. I know its cheap insurance on a $80K truck but try doing a used oil analysis next time and i bet it will show you that the oil you are dumping out is still good.

      8000 miles in oil no way I do em at 3000 miles t6 rotella

      @@jpr8451 3000 miles on an oil change is just throwing away money. You can do a easy and cheap used oil analysis and see how good your oil still is. I have done several UOA over the years in a few different trucks and i am always amazed how good the oil is after 10K miles.

    How did you drop that filter without oil dripping from the space the filter screws onto? Every time I drop the filter down vertical so nothing spills out the filter before putting on the filter plug, I get oil dripping from the area the filter screws on. I use a zip lock to catch that oil and it is a mess half the time!

      People should be educated that Cummins engine is not an ordinary engine and oil change should cost accordingly. In our dealer techs are getting .5 for diesel oil change and most have 2 bays so they can let it drain while doing something else.
