My biggest take from this song isn't that we're focusing on the "wrong" things but that we're focusing on them in the wrong way and I 100% agree. Losing people's humanity in the name of progress isn't real progress.

as an old soul, I can't tell you what this does for me. My mom was a country singer and when she would sing some low down blues I couldn't help but cry, every time lol. My grandfather worked in the coal mines and then a saw mill. My dad was a truck driver. My husband works in the steel industry. They worked their fingers to the bone and were true tough, gentle, common sensed, family men. Men like that should run our country!
