    Bruce Cockburn has one of Canada's most beautiful singing voices!
    I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Bruce many years ago in Dawson City at the music festival. He asked me if I was one of the people who prepared the wonderful food and I told him I was not. I was another performer at the festival.
    He said that the food was great and I agreed. He was so nice that he wanted to compliment someone on taking such good care of us! 🥰

    On July 25th 1991, I lost my girlfriend . she died in a plane crash in a forest of kaoris in the mountains of Santo in Vanuatu . Cassandra Clunies Ross was 25 years old. She was a VSO volunteer
    working in forestry.WE found her camera ,processed the film and her last shot was of a kaori tree.I also had a cd by bruce Cockburn with this song on it. Probably listened to this song a 1000 times and every time I cried not only because I was devastated but also because this is a superb song.

      😟😢😢😢💔💔💔 I'm at this age myself where many old hallmarks of my early life are passing away, my Dad only 20 days ago. He was the one who's musical tastes had a huge impact on me, including Bruce Cockburn, particularly his "Stealing Fire" album, which I was delighted to buy on cd when I got my first job back in 2000 (20 flippin years ago...seems like a blink).
      I appreciate your remarks. Sorry to hear it, too.

      No he wasn't ahead . They gave him a narrative and he provided the soundtrack. You've never heard of Greenpeace? It was connected to Canada since the mid 70s and they evolved into organizations that did million dollar charity fund raisers that went into their side coat pockets and they did NOTHING for solutions. It's like Antifa.

      NORMALIZATION OF IGNORANCE sometimes it takes raising awareness of the situation to get more involved and through the collective joining of attention, intention, and forces, coming together to create a solution. He can’t do it all himself! Join in and be proactive yourself instead of grumbling. That’s like complaining when someone has given you the menu at at restaurant. It’s your choice. Your responsibility. Don’t expect one person to do everything and then you get to sit back and say whether it’s worthy or not. It’s your life. Get involved. What’s your plan?

    • @arrow-lo7jf
      @arrow-lo7jf 5 років тому

      Sorry, but I am in no way grumbling , I am %100 serious . The human race is a not worthy of this planet. What more do you need to see in this world before you come to the same conclusion.You really think there is a solution to this madness, we lost this planet year's ago when the corporations bought it, a death sentence for us all, they do not care for you or me or this planet, nothing will change unless people are willing to die to change it, are you ready to die for your cause ? revolution is the only way, and to be honest, people are to consumed with their own greed and standard of living to give a shit. and you seem smart enough to know that, where you going to go tomorrow, WORK or a SAVE THE WORLD RALLY, I rest my case...peace.

    • @priscillahudson3625
      @priscillahudson3625 5 років тому +3

      arrow64 64 it is what I am doing and what I do every day; bitching and complaining only makes for a more miserable existence and pushes people away from doing anything about it because they want to get away from misery, so instead of encouraging people to be proactive, the negativity only encourages more people to check out-or that’s what I’ve observed in the last 20 years of my personal activism. Personal responsibility and something to work for other than “we’re doomed” because then it’s just “eat,drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die”.

    This song is an indictment of big business, with a message 38 years old now, and yet there are still deniers. I spent hours with my Telecaster trying to get that chiming tone. Lotsa Boss effect later…. A great song underpinned with a great riff.

    I remember this song so well. So haunting so beautiful. And it was scary to see how much trees were falling back then, but even more that they are still falling 10 times as much than before. We are all doomed....doomed I tell ya!! Theres no turning back. We are beyond the tipping point. Enjoy it as much as you can because.....the ending is just around the corner.

      It's now OK to clear-cut vast numbers of trees to make room for "clean energy" wind turbines & solar panels, though. People favor expediency over nature in the end.

Truly, and what a gentleman. I floated back to my camper trailer at the Winnipeg folk festival 2006....sober and had the best sleep i ever had.. I am 54 years past, and my son is 3. He loves Bruce as much as me. EXTRAORDINARY.
