I wish these guys still did their LWCG podcast. It's really awesome when you get Cody on a long form. In small bits, it's hard to see where he is coming from or what he's about, but when he opens up, he is an awesome and relatable dude. Also, the Huntr podcast has done awesome with how they go about interviewing and conversing with their guests.
The D'Acquisto family is top notch in my book. Really glad to support such a great American business and family! This was the most informative podcast I've ever listened too. You guys knocked it outta the park
API Grandslam bow hunter was my first climber back in the early 2000s and it was one of the only climber that had an open face and I freaking loved that thing and then it got stolen and I'm still pissed about it 😂
Lone wolf sit and climb is what got me started in hunting and archery hunting. Still have it and use it to this day and is still the favorite stand that I own. Great company and great family!
It’s been 5 days, I don’t listen to podcasts but I’ve forced myself to listen to this one. And I like it. I like the way Cody thinks about things. The way his brain processes how to hunt whitetail deer is different then 99.99% of folks
Dude i just got a hip replacement so ill probably miss this season. I freaked out when i saw a 6 hr podcast. Rock on guys i can listen to Cody all day long
I did it, which means anyone can do it! Absolutely love deer hunting and lived in New England where I would hike miles and barely see deer. Moved to southeast Nebraska where I can be in Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas in less than an hour. Killed a tank 145” 8 last season! If ya love it, gotta make the tough decisions!
I rock an XOP vanish hang that i leave in one spot all season but I also have a Lone Wolf .5 as my runner stand. Love them both but nothing compares to the Lone Wolf stands! Cody is a real one
As a younger dad and a younger hunter I really appreciate the perspective offered in every podcast from you guys but especially this one. A lot of good info and great stories. God bless you guys
So glad that Cody talked about the way people looked at him and how he had to adjust. However, Cody is right. At the end of the day, it didn’t matter what he looked like. He showed up, busted ass, and is one of the best at doing it.
Cody reminds me of a young Donny Vincent in a way. Extremely gifted person within the industry, but doesn’t really want to be seen doing it. Everyone knows there are doing crazy shit and creative awesome stuff, but everybody wants to see more of it.
What a good ( fucking ) podcast!! 😂 appreciate y’all giving us 5 hours of this shit. felt like I was talking hunting with my boys 😂🔥 can tell when people are trying to be more PG & it doesn’t feel as authentic. yalls 3 podcast w the daquisto guys are top notch.
2:34:42 i was dove hunting with my parents in either 2007 or 2008, on state gamelands in Pa. We got to where we hunted around 4pm one afternoon, about 45mins after we settle in, a couple game wardens approach my parents (im sitting a hundred yard further down the fence row). It turns out theyre accusing them of using a field 400 yards away for shooting claybirds without a permit and not cleaning up after ourselves. Gave my parents a couple tickets. We didnt do that. We’re members of a fishing game in our town, if we wanted to shoot claybirds we did it there. Not nearly an hour up the road from our house. Last year my folks ever bought a migratory bird stamp
I haven’t listened yet… but what’s wrong with the xop cold world? Currently have a vanish and been looking to upgrade to the cold world or LWCG .75 but it’s a rather large price difference
@@MrTrapper1111I’m just listening to this part right now while pimping out my old xop 😂. The discount code for this podcast just put me over the edge. I’m ordering the .75! That light stand with three tethrd one sticks and aiders will be a super lightweight system. Now I need to figure out what pack/suspension system I’m going with. Leaning towards the xop striker pack (it’s actually awesome and nicer than most whitetail packs).
Now I’m 27 but I am treated like one of the young ones still cuz I look younger then I am but I get shit as being part of the hunters ruining it, But yet I don’t know many people around me that go out hunting more then me or scout more then me . And I have my 4 year old son help with what ever he can
I completely agree with Cody man. I quit using cameras two whole years ago so I only ride around the areas a little bit as well as see what's in my area around my house, seeing I.can hunt there a lik too but my other area I just leave it a mystery. I know that there's decent deer and if something that comes out say a 130 a 120, 140, 50 whatever. I'm in southwestern PA 2B over into 2D. If it gets me going I'm happily shooting it. I don't really have regrets because it got my excitement going Aunt. That's what I look for. Excitement of the chase and my satisfaction I've shot and a basketrack 8 point whenever I knew that I probably should have as it was walking by and that was probably one of my biggest regrets in my hunting career just because I felt like I could do way better and I know that I can. But that was a lesson learned for me and it's really helped me pass on bucks that are very tempting but are 2 and 1/2 years old. But you know are very nice. They're just not anything bigger than what I already have .I try to be honest with everything and live up to The laws while being ethical and honest. Thanks guys for another great episode!
I might possibly have one of the old man's original lone wolf stands. I got one at a flea market that was machined even lighter and is the original casting design. I paid 60 bucks for it. I always think it had to be some assasian machining the weight off that stand.
Great podcast, sad his father couldn’t show his son who worked so hard doing the thing he loved some pride and respect. Nothing more important to a son then his fathers opinion
Half an hour in and I finally realized its over 5 hours!?! Wow. Cody got my attention when he said, "if you know where that deer is bedding and where he eats that buck should be dead". lol But hey, there was a lot in that statement for me like, just where do bucks bed?
Dan falls out with quite a few people. They might not publicly criticize him but they sure as shit distance themselves from him. I don’t know what actually happened but the whole tree stand business thing seems shady to me. Dan is a great at what he does but I definitely wouldn’t turn my back on him for very long, or anyone else for that matter. I would add Dan wants beta males around to follow him around the swamp scouting saying yep, yes, great idea. Soon as someone challenges him or his ideas he is having none of it. People like Andre and Joe are alphas. He ain’t having it. He prefers having someone around to ridicule or a total yes man. Joe was doing Joe tactics. Although he learned under Dan He wasn’t following the dogma that is beast style hunting. He developed his own style imo.
Weird that Cody left out so much of the story with Dan. All the cease and desist and legal threats they sent him. Or that they knew what he was doing and cut him off. There is so much more to that story lol.
My dad was jumping into the hunting industry in the mid late 80s. Between newspapers, had a hunting product, etc. 3 out of 3 partners screwed him. Horrible industry
Awesome interview - Cody is personable and very relatable. But the XOP story sounds very Phishy I have original Lone Wolf Stands and XOP stands not hating but legally doesn’t add up at all
Lol, "I love seeing the old dudes adapting to new stuff" the dudes over 50, "the old dudes." I know plenty of "old dudes" myself included that will run circles around younger hunters, not just in our woodsman skills but also in our dedication to fitness and to shooting the bow year round to prepare for the hunting season. Oh, guess who the younger dudes are always looking to for advice on ways to improve, including with hunting gear (I have been hunting out of my own homemade saddles for over 20 years now and long before the new saddles were even a thing, it's the "old dudes" that are laying down the knowledge and advice 🦌🦌
The best part is they agree with exactly what you said. They weren’t knocking old dudes that have been hunting their whole life. They were explaining that it’s cool to see older people with no hunting experience start their hunting journey.
Pretty sure Dan isn't jealous of you and your private land. I'm guessing he will wash his hands from you guys after you added your 2 cents discussing him.

As a truck driver, I appreciate a 6 hour show.😉👍
Agreed
As a heavy equipment operator I'll second that
I’m a superintendent at a golf course and I can listen to about two episodes every day. Love it

Been waiting for another episode with Cody for awhile, made my week!
Bro hell yeahhhhh!! Been listening to Cody all week this gonna make work nice tomorrow 6 hours 🤯💪🏻👊🏻🔥🔥
Same! I’ve been going back and listening to all his old podcast appearances.
We were using climbers in 8th grade in illinois in 2003. The API climbers were the first ones we used. Awesome episode dudes. Itchin for opening day!

This guy puts hunting into perspective so well. I first listened to Cody years ago on the d'aquusto series podcast
Yes traveling around killing farmed deer and measuring them all by inches.. Hunting in perspective 😂
One of my favorite guests. First person ive heard that also took up skating over hunting, and then got crazy into hunting. Really related to that.
Haha right?!
So worth watching all 6hrs Best podcast y’all have dropped. Love Cody’s story

One of the best episodes for sure!
Met cody at the VA mobile road show. Down to earth good dude who just loves talking whitetails. Great Episode!

Met Cody at hunting expo in Michigan, he was a very cool down to earth guy.

New Orleans to Traverse city in one day. Good timing on the record 6 hour huntr fest 🔥
