iPhone XR doesn't support portrait mode for objects, it only works for human faces, so why you're comparing the portrait mode of it by taking photos of flowers?
Honestly the iPhone Xr is the better phone. The wide color photo and video capture is in another league. And the display is more color and contrast accurate than the pixel.
