Great video!! I'm having a similar problem rounding/beveling an edge but on the inside end of a tube. When I make the tube I can bevel the outer edge at the end but the inside edge is sharp 90° angle. How can I round off that inside edge to match the outer? Thanks!
Good question. There's no easy way. I made a shape that you can use to customize a bevel on the outer and inner ends of a tube. I made it public so you can search it up on Tinkercad and copy/use it. Best way to find it is by searching the name "Remi Wauthy." It's not perfect but I think it'll do the trick.
All the time I cut a square with an circle and I cut with 2 others squares to have this shape. Maybe in the future we will have an scrollbar with this option :)
Is this a trapezoid prism? I'm having trouble picturing the dimensions of the trapezoid you want. There are a couple different ways you could create a trapezoid. One way is to use the polygon shape and cut it in half (with a box). Another way is to group a box and two wedges together.
i i was following your video and when i selected featured, i couldnt see any "metta fillet" shape... is that something i have to make or its a shape that other people had made?
Click "All" instead of "Featured," then, at least, in my case, go to the 12th "next", and "Meta Filet" should be there. (". . . engineers! They LOVE to change things!" - - Dr. McCoy, ST:TMP)
Nice Video but I can not get it to do the duplicate and flip. Maybe I missed a step or did they change something in Tinkercad could you send me the step by step from duplicate to flip? Thanks
@@RemiWauthy Hello, thank you for replying, I was able to make it work using your steps. Thank you so much. For me it wasn't working because instead of using the shape Metafillet, I created one on my own. But while trying to group with it and make the round edges wasn't working properly. So i gave up and use Metafillet shape and all was resolved. :D
@@flosa1995 Finally found it. NOT where you show; but under basic / All. Not featured. Then finally on page 12 there it was with star. What did the star mean and how can I edit to my basic shapes area? I just grabbed it to a blank page and saved it. My TinkerCad doesn't show what your's is showing. Mine only says Featured and All under the basic tab. they may have changed the page since 2017. I signed into TinkerCad 2018
@@ChinaAl I use the german version so it can be that its called differenty. When it is in the same tab then I meant the All option. If you hover over the right upper corner of a tool then a star will appear. If you click that then it will become listed in favorites in the future. Choosing a blank page works as well thought. Also you can sort them better the way you did it.
Quit suffering. Just increase the radius on the cube ( in the drop down menu that appears) and it will add a radius to every side. If you want a curved object like in the video, just increase the radius then cut off the top and bottom with holes.
@@RemiWauthy I noticed that if you use the radius - the bottom does not stay flat on the canvas - when 3d printing objects like this without supports - it starts to lift - your solution makes the edges round, but does not bevel the edge like the radius and steps setting does. Thanks for this!!
You are confusing radiused edge with a fillet. then using a fillet in negative the create a radiused edge. if you look at the parameters for the box you initially pulled in you would see a radius parameter, try that.
Thanks for your comment. The radius parameter creates a radiused edge (fillet) of every edge on the box. The method I cover is for when you want to create a radiused edge for some edges, but not all. Hope that makes sense.
I wish Tinkercad would allow us to just click an edge/corner and apply a fillet or chamfer instead of all this faffing about. Until they do this technique works great!
It has changed location. It is no long in the "Featured Shapes," but under the "All" section of "Shape Generators." I found the MetaFillet on page 12. The best think to do is to star it so that it shows up under your Favorites. Hope this helps.
The layout has changed a bit since I made the video, but the MetaFillet still exist in the Shape Generator. Best way to find it is through the search button next to the Shapes Library menu.
Yes, that's one way to do it, but it curves every edge. You would have to trim off the edges you don't wanted filleted. The method I demonstrated is for filleting specific edges.
This is not the best way to do this, another user below me has described the method which is far better for quick rounding, to go further than just a simple curve you need to learn how to use filets, not simple arcs like this. same goes for circles to even out the number of sides to 64 I thibk, however you can take it a lot further than that if you want a perfect circle without even tiny faces. If your not sure, draw a cylinder, zoom in after you have adjusted the radius to 64 and you will see what I mean.
No problem :-D Yeah, Tinkercad can be super frustrating. I'm getting into Onshape which is much more powerful and also browser based. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for this amazing video. 5 years later and it's still doing work :D
Glad it helped!
@@RemiWauthy I don't have the option to flip; only mirror is an option
Love this! I had no idea about the flipping while selecting the object! Game changer I was doing it the hard way!
Great tip. Best method I've seen to achieve this. Thanks for making this video!
Apart from the one in Alison Morrison's comment :)
Super helpful! Thanks Remi!
You just saved me, thank you so much 👍
Thanks! New to this and learned like 4 helpful things in this one video.
This was what i was searching for. thank you very much for the tutorial
Nice idea selecting 2 objects and then flipping. If you want to scale your fillet without changing the proportion, try the radius slider.

how do u smooth a corner tho? Btw this is really going to help me with my school project thanks.

I tried doing that using a torus...not the easier thing to do. Did you have any luck?
Hello one question please, for me it didnt work quite well, was able to round the corner but it creates a thin line inside the box, not sure why
Hmm, strange. make sure that you align the pieces to the corner. Is there a way you can share a screenshot so that I can get a better idea?
