weld tip* move forward, with a backwards C motion, hold on the top to let it build up, sweep back around c shaped to the bottom, moving forward a bit, then back up c motion to the top and hold it again. your finished weld will now be flat, with even leg length, meaning your height width and throat thickness is all the same. i welded once or twice, you can trust me. 😉 oh, and turn up the volts nice and hot. more heat and more wire is key to moving fast and producing clean solid welds.
Very usable welds in both cases. Mrs. Redbeard's, as Lonnie pointed to his credit, is just a cut above in consistency. God Bless you all, I truly enjoy your channel.
No kidding I pulled one of these out of the mud at a scrap yard, hooked a battery to it shot some ether in it and it purred, still had gas in the bowl so it ran for 10 seconds, I bought it and I'm putting it on my m200 after cleaning it up.
Red Beard, I think you'll agree with me, the only way to get better at welding (or anything really) is practice. So, I know it's a minor cost, but stick Mrs. Red Beard out in the shop with a "whole bunch" of scrap plates and let her "go to town". Seems she already understands the basics of MIG welding so as the "old people" use-ta say "Practice makes perfect". Not just the motions of the handle/wire/arc, but the machine too. How to set it up for horizontal, overhead, the heat ranges, wire feed speed, "the whole Kitten Kaboodle". Ya never can tell, she might just get better at it than you! Love the videos, the builds, and your having enough "gumption" to speak about and to your faith in The Lord! Stay frosty brother!!!
Always great content here. I work on small engines in my spare time. Fun to work on!!! Picking up a ct200 u ex today. The camo one. If I like it enough gonna buy another for my son so we can take em down to the beach and have a little fun together. 👍. Great vids always man!😀
Great vehicle you guys are building,I can't wait to see it running, I find it really awesome that these Coleman's mini bikes can get more powerful engines mounted along with all sorts of other tuning parts from all the different Coleman models there is,it reminds me of Lego vehicle parts.I just found a YT channel a couple days ago from this cool mini bike gang down in Florida where they use to do these ride outs, some are Colemans while some I'm not so sure if they are but pretty much all of them ride well over the 70mph mark, I asked already out of curiosity what mods have they done to them but I haven't got an answer yet, but I've read in the comments from other people that primary tuning mods done on Colemans is removing the governor and the carb air restrictor...
for the front fork dropping under braking : look intoo mecanical anti dive , basicly makes the caliper mount hinge around the axle , a lever and a pushrod to the sollidy mounted part of the front fork , braking dive can be ajusted by shortening or lengthen the reactionarm/lever from the caliper to the pushrod
For all the modifying that you guys do on different mini bike frames. I think it's time for you just to make your own frames The way you want from the beginning. I think that would be cool. You could even mass produce weld your own kits for them and sell them on your site
I agree! Although I think RBG may get a lil kick back from Go Power Sports.😉 Since he is using a Coleman and Briggs on this build I could be wrong. Definitely think he should at least sell a set of blueprints or basic frames for those of us that don’t want to spend $900+ on a frame.
I've considered getting a decent basic welder for making simple things like mobile drying racks for painting and what not. Though I haven't welded since I graduated auto-body class years ago. Even then I didn't weld for beans since I wasn't interested at the time. I just wanted to do body work and painting. :)
You literally expressed, almost spot on, my high school auto-body & welding choices. Passed on a half tuition auto body/collision repair scholarship(I had the world figured out in ‘98 graduation, decided partying was more important and pissed it away). But 25 yrs later I’ve had to do a lot of stick welding and a lil wire feed for various jobs. But I been wanting to get my own good lil welder just to start projects like this! It all just looks too fun not to. Love RBG’s and a few other mini-bike/fab shop videos. Great way to waste away a lazy Sunday. Now to get said welder and get going on a project bike! Good luck to you!
@@rb88dhb Thanks. I've been slowly buying tools here and there. I have a nice Spectrum HTE spray gun I bought from Harbor Freight to get me started. But I need to eventually get a good enough air compressor to even use it. So for me it's been incredibly slow as I have to buy things here and there. Then I have projects I have to buy parts for. Which puts the tool buying on hold so I can buy the parts I need to fix something. My biggest long term project I have yet to buy any parts for is my 1981 Yamaha YZ 465. Mainly because other more important things have needed attention first. Plus it's going to be a treasure hunt to find vital parts that are missing from it. But it will be worth it in the end. Who doesn't want a vintage big bore 2-stroke mx bike to ride on? :)
I'm thinking about putting one in my late 60s Montgomery ward mini bike, it was full suspension and was a lot of fun with the 5hp Briggs bit I figured if it fits I might as well
@@billwilliamson9842 I got mine for free from a guy who bought it new when he was a kid, at one point he had it was either a 12hp or 18hp Briggs in it, I don't remember exactly, it was one of the bigger ones it came off a Bradley tractor
@@billwilliamson9842 it was also a 2 speed at one point in time but the secondary clutch went out probably 30 years before I got it and it was just bypassed and turned into a single speed
I replaced the Predator 212cc engine in my Massimo Baja Warrior MB 200 with a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard Vtwin engine, 479cc 16hp. Still running the stock carb right now an the performance is impressive already. I did notice I'm getting about 14mpg which is kinda sucky but I'll do some gearing changes and see what happens.
Gonna have to give it to Mrs. Red Beard on the welds.
Mrs. Red Beard is the champ!
A V-twin mini-bike!?! About time... I've been waiting/wanting to see such a build since I started watching these channels! ;D
Same, was eventualy gonna get to it on mine.
lol some one put a vtwin in a super bronc
instaBlaster...
wish i had something to go cruisin on so my dad an bro can watch me smile from the skies above... lookin down from heaven
i left this comment a year ago before i had my mini bike lol
Videos at this level of entertainment are rare. You all weld very well, I accredit professor redbeard's weld. He is teaching the misses.

Good Lord!! That engine looks HUGE. Just enjoy the hell out of watching you guys plow ahead without any reservations whatsoever.
Finally made it home frome work and can actually sit down to watch this one. I'm so freaking excited
I love when RedBeard gets creative and start fabricating. 👍🏾
I am glad to here it’s getting a rear swingarm conversion. It’ll ride way better !
the man with the grinder wins, any weld is a good weld, but the grinder makes it look super sweet...50/50 on the welds.
Very usable welds in both cases. Mrs. Redbeard's, as Lonnie pointed to his credit, is just a cut above in consistency. God Bless you all, I truly enjoy your channel.
Sorry Lonnie,
After all this channel is redbeards garage, and Mrs.Redbeard wins this round.
God BLESS
I like this build, I'm putting that exact same V-twin in a monster ATC three wheeler I'm building
Strength is king for any weld period
I like this build!
Both did a good job !!
I'd like to see this bike continue going forward! Maybe raffle it off for the kids at church??
😇🙏👍
Mrs. RBG was the winner by far! Good job!
Mrs. Red Beard took it on this one! Good job to Lonnie aswell!! Both are very good for not having much experience
I run the same Lil hyper tough grinder from Walmart. Has taken years of abuse. Take it apart and blow it out once a year. Best $20 tool I own
Miss RedBeard weld is the winner 👏🏾
Mrs Red Beard won the weld challenge for sure.....

That's gonna be a cool ride Can't wait to see it done love the military style
Cool project. Both welds look pretty good to me.
I would really love to see like a extensively detailed video on carb tuning for these motors.

I'm WAY LATE HERE, but Ms. RedBeard Def Won this welding challenge!!!! No doubt about it. She can lay a bead. Caterpillars!!!
I think Miss Redbeard won sorry Lonnie. Greg give her a big old kiss. God bless RBG
Lonny did go second and re-touched a larger area, Mrs by a hair.
I think Mrs. Red Beard welding is the win.

I always like y’all’s videos without watching all of it
"I don't think we needed this 14 inch weld" lol that had me dying!
Mrs redbeard gets my vote. Mostky because her welds were consistent
i think both welds look pretty good i’d be fine with either one
Mrs Red for the win with welding!
Mrs. Red Beard looks Good! I'm the same way about others welding on my jobs too!
Nice video!
Keep up the epic work!
Mrs. Red Beard takes the cake on this one
Have the same engine on my field mouse aka mini rat rod. If not busy sometime stop and look at it. This is going to be a great build
The welds won’t win any awards but they will do.
This little mini bike is gonna be awsome...
I believe Mrs. Redbeard won the wedding contest!

Mrs. Red Beard laying out those dimes...nice!
Bro go all in on this build frfr
2:33 that exaust, DAMN I would have loved to hear the stock engine with that pipe
Mrs. Redbeard wins weld contest , thin tubing makes her weld pattern OK.
Mrs. Redbeard definitely wins!!!

I think the winner gets to run the shop for the week and gets to build what they want
You have created a monster.
he called him boy george lol so i looked up who it iz Lmao
That's a great looking build, max engine looks perfect, you need giant white-walls on it. Make a post-war Hog! [ to hell with corners ]
Mrs. Redbeard welds are the best
I'm putting the same engine in a Murray kilowatt kart. Already upgraded the brakes by putting front ones on it.
Take the Mrs to Dinner! She gets my vote.
Mrs.Redbeard won it hands down most the talent all the puddings..I laughed so hard looking forward to meeting all of you if o

Thank you for the video RBG and god bless
It was nice to see the classic intro again.I'd say it was too close to judge. They Both with a '$!00.000 Bar'.

Check out carrier performance. They have some really nice stuff for vanguard engines
