Do NOT take it at home, accused of cheating by looking off screen. Proctor ended my exam. I will very highly suggest not taking it at home. Others have had theirs voided and cancled due to biting their shirt or wispering the question as the read it. Unreal and very dissipointing experience. Checkin process was also clanky and chat feature did not work durring the test. By all means take your chances... I was 10/10 prepaired setup wise and fully understood all of the rules and expected strictness. The experiance was extremely dissapointing and tramatizing.. And no I am not exagurating or ignorant or laxed on any of the strict processes or rules. To be honest it appeared to be blantant bias.. PMI may be wanting to phase out in home testing and using this approach to scare people out of taking the test at home. It absolutely worked, I will NEVER attempt taking it at home again.. Due to this mess I need to wait another month to take the exam again.

This just happened to me, unfairly had my exam revoked due to leaning off camera, I requested the footage be reviewed
Today I had my AWS Cloud practioner revoked just because I used my headset to communicate to the proctor. This is so brainless

the background advice was really helpful, my instructor advised to format the whole computer which is impossible

Are you sharing your screen with the Proctor?
I think for a peace of mind it is easier to go to exam centre. If you get power cut or your internet stops your whole exam is failed.
That's really good feedback; for many people, it's more advisable to take the exam in-person instead of at-home due to these risks.

@Beau Marchant, really glad that you found the video helpful! You should be all set with using your laptop's webcam. Since I know that others have experienced technical issues when taking their online exam and since the webcam plays such a huge role with the online proctoring, I like to err on the safety side and be over prepared, and so I recommend having an external webcam. @Ganesh, really glad you found the video helpful! You can absolutely use the system's calculator during the exam. It's likely though that you won't see questions on your PMP Exam which would need the use of a calculator though (from my own testing experience).

I wanted to take this exam on my work laptop. I have permission. But it is not permitted to have any 3rd party software on it. Would the exam be too intrusive for this?
It might be a little tricky, since you have to install PearsonVue's exam software, which might require your IT Department to approve. If that isn't possible, you can try using your own personal computer or personal laptop to take the exam from home. And worst case, you can always schedule to take the exam at a physical testing center.

You should be able to use your own internal webcam from your laptop. Check to make sure that it works before the day of your exam

Quick question. When proctor asked you to take photos of surroundings, how do you upload photos by mobile phones?
Also, I live in small space and have lots of model figures. Do I have to remove them out?
Ike, you can upload pictures of your surroundings using your mobile phone. If you have the space available, I recommend placing your model figures so that it's not in the same room as your testing room. Is there any other area that you could place them, while you're taking the exam? (for example: drawer, cabinet, etc)

For CAPM, how are we supposed to give the exam without pen and paper as there are calculations involved in it
From having taken the CAPM Exam myself, if you are given calculation based questions, they will NOT be complex and you can easily do them by writing on the screen with their whiteboard feature.
I passed the exam but after i received a message from PMI saying my exam was invalidated. I asked why and they answered me that:
"Our post-administration psychometric analyses are conducted on every candidate’s exam by third-party experts in the fields of psychometrics and test security. We are confident in the results of these analyses. In the event that an exam result is flagged as unreliable, it is our policy to invalidate the exam score and offer the candidate a free retest. "
I cannot believe. I followed all their rules and it is an exhausting exam. I don't know what to do.
@Juliano Lima, I'm incredibly sorry to hear the news, and I can't imagine how frustrating that feels. I recommend reaching out to the PMI Online Live Chat, or calling their contact number, and explaining them your situation, to see if you can have your exam validated (and not invalidated) since you followed the rules and their policies. Reach out to them and explain that you did everything you could per their guidelines and strongly believe you deserve the certification after having taken it.
After check in, proctor didn't launch exam and said asked to check help, I tried twice checking but failed to launch.
@Mahesh, if you had trouble launching the exam software, were you able to hopefully reschedule the exam with the online proctor?

Christine, you won't be allowed a physical calculator if you take the exam from home. If you take the exam from home, you will have access to an on-the-screen calculator with the PearsonVue Testing Software. If you take the exam in-person, they will give you a physical calculator. Hope that helps!

@@jpsurya Hi, i got my PMP . The online PMP Exam process was very easy from which i thought. They will be showing a QR code on the screen for uploading the photos. So don’t worry to much about the online exam process.

@Rose, that should be perfectly acceptable per Pearson Vue's info on their website website: "Required if using an external monitor with a laptop: an external mouse, keyboard, and webcam, and the lid of your laptop must remain closed throughout your exam." That is completely possible to sign up for the online test, but not take the exam in the US.
