    Great instructions on how to correctly fill out an application. I'd advise anyone to take it to heart. However, there is no way to avoid an audit no matter how tightened up your application is. Audits are randomly generated, not selected because something looks fishy. PMI will tell you the same thing. Back to the good stuff on this video, YES! YES! and YES! These steps and tips will defiantly help you not get your application "rejected" as opposed to audited. I've had two students get their applications rejected outright due to some oversite in time, so following the advice here will help make sure the applicant is squared away.

      Juan - Do not discount your volunteer experience. Your experience can still be considered professional experience, even if it was on a voluntary basis. This is a great video but I would look at a few additional resources. If you were applying PMP principles, you can count it. It's all in the way you present it.

    Hi Alvin! I have worked as a Presales solution architect for 3 years, leading and managing more than 10+ rfps in 3 years. How to write a project description for each of those rfps? My role and responsibilities were almost the same in all the rfps. Is it okay if we repeat the responsibilities for each project in the pmp application?

    Hello,
    This is about my application via PMI site regarding the PMP certification exam.
    I did several projects in 4 companies as a continuous improvement engineer and my director is the continuous improvement project manager.
    So we must mention the four companies and the detailed project for each company via the application? If Yes, how because I found only one box to fill the experience.
    One question I have 29 months experience in the industrial field and not 36 months
    Will there be a problem? A solution please.
    And also projects carried out without budget.
    Will there be a problem in my application via the pmp application?

    hello Alvin my name is sahil dass I have worked as a project coordinator in the social development sector responsible for improving the malnourishment status of the children aged 0 to 5 years. there were other ancillary activities as well. our major work was to spread awareness in the communities on infant and young child feeding practices and maternal-child health and nutrition practices. So, will the social development project experience be valid for PMI exam.

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  2 роки тому +1

      @Sahil Dass, for your PMP Application, your experience will work if you're able to demonstrate that you have had three years of experience leading and managing projects (if you have a Bachelor's degree), as well as leading the team through all stages of the project's life cycle. If so, then you'll need to fill out the in-depth instructions as outlined by PMI. i have around 8 years of experience. I worked on some projects but these all are part of operational activities.
    Can i use this experience under execution and monitor & Controlling phase or advise how i can fulfil this criteria.

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  Рік тому +2

      @Chaman, If you weren't the Project Leader or the person in charge of managing the projects (example: you were an individual contributor on the projects), this may not qualify as "project management experience" per PMI's requirements. What I recommend is reviewing your past professional experience for projects which you led, managed, or spearheaded. Hope that helps!

    hi Alvin. I need your advice whether my job experience and the training falls in the required category of Pmp eligibility .im a government servant and a tax collector.i have experience of 7years. My routine job responsibilities are the monitoring and audit of tax affairs of different tax payers. Along with this sometimes i carry out some awareness campaigns among different business sectors regarding any change in tax laws. Beside that ,i carried out Point of sell integration of all retailors at local level ,a new initiative taken by the government. What part of my job, in ur advice,falls in the required category.

    Hi Alvin I have 3 semester credits for a graduate course entitled project, design,monitoring and evaluation. Would this course course work as my 35 hours of PM training? If not can you suggest the best online course that offers the training ?

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  2 роки тому +3

      @Nazera, you will need to make sure that your course meets the minimum 35 hours of project management education. You'll have to fill out a section on your application specifying the Course Title, Provider Name (in your case, it will be the University Name) and the actual number of qualifying hours. Check out timestamp 10:54 of my video, How to Fill Out the PMP Application Online, for detail: ua-cam.com/video/sKLkG-pTD-U/v-deo.html
      If you'd like to be on the conservative side, you can always purchase Joseph Philip's PMP Exam Prep Seminar from Udemy for less than $15 (when it goes on discount) that will qualify you for the 35 hours of education. I hope that helps out!

      @Sivasamy T, you'll need to demonstrate that you have experience leading and managing your projects in order to qualify to meet PMI's PMP Application Requirements. Dear Mr Alvin
    What are chapters I want to cover in Essential Scrum Textbook by Kennith Ruben for Agile Preparation?
    I want to get these tips from you
    Thanks

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  2 роки тому +3

      I used the Essential Scrum book and skimmed the most important concepts for Agile to get up-to-speed and also to refresh my memory on the core fundamentals that would be tested in situational-based questions on the PMP Exam. For reference, Essential Scrum is actually one of the Reference Books which PMI recommends to prepare for the PMP Exam, listed on their website: www.pmi.org/certifications/project-management-pmp/earn-the-pmp/pmp-exam-preparation/pmp-reference-list
      Here is what I recommend to focus on at a high-level from the Essential Scrum Book, to understand the Agile concepts:
      Ch 1 Intro - pg1,2; the entire Ch 2 Scrum Framework; and Ch 3 Agile principles (pg 33-35, 48-49,59-60)
      Skimming at a high-level the following will deepen your knowledge and foundation in Agile; but it's not necessary. Note that I used the word 'skim' and not to 'memorize'.
      Ch4 Sprints (61-64, 69,74,77), Ch5 User Stories (pg 83), Ch6 Product Backlog (99-101, 105-106); Skim Ch9-11 to familiarize yourself with the roles and responsibilities of each member on the Team (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development Team)
      Hope that helps! When is your PMP Exam scheduled?

      @Rashmi Arora, that's correct, you can do the PMP even if you were on break for 5 years. On your PMP Application, you have to list 3 years of project management experience which is within 8 years from today's date. PMI's site states: If you have a 4-year degree, you need "36 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years"
