I'm taking the LIRR into Penn station from JFK when I visit the city later this year. My hotel is in the Meatpacking District, so I'm happy I can use this route to walk to my hotel.
The original plan was to move the entire Penn Station across the street to the old Farley post office and name it Moynihan Station in honor of Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Can’t figure out why they piecemealed it like they did. Seems like a half baked idea, Penn station under MSG is an absolute dump!
Most likely no benches to keep homeless from sleeping there as I’m sure the station operates 24/7. I’m old enough to have probably taken a train to Chicago from the original Penn Station, as I was born in 1955.
What?! The natural wood trestle is beautiful and fits with the whole theme of the elevated railway!
Thanks for walking tour 👍🏙️
Thanks! I have been in the Train Hall but wasn't sure how it connected to the Highline. Appreciate this!

I have both arrived and departed via Amtrak at Moynihan.

It’s a trestle to mimic an actual train trestle.

No benches at the station due to the homeless
