Who wants a fouled out spark plug?
Cameron Niemela me!!!!!’ Please!!!😍
Cameron Niemela Me!!!
I said me first!!
Meeeee
I do ☝🏻
Cameron, I am 41 with 3 kids and about 5 bikes (2 and 4 strokes) at any given time. Please provide more trouble shooting content. You are a great teacher. You teach how to think through the problem logically. And your videography compliments your basic instructios for a simpleton like myself and I assume many others. This will expand your subscriptions. May I also suggest a video on 4 stroke valve adjustment? Thank you for your content!
Thank you for the kind comments! I do have an older video on a 4 stroke valve adjustment but I'm hoping to make an updated one soon.
Seriously who dislikes videos that are intended to help you out ?
People who watched the video and still have a bad running bike
Their are bots
True
People who don’t like watching videos of somebody rambling about random shit
People who've sold their bike because they couldn't fix it
I'm jealous of how clean your cr125 is !!!!!!
You think his is clean you seen mine yet
@@ihorseyforfun5544 it’s probably clapped out af
I always use a wire brush first, to clean, and lets me inspect the electrodes and porcelain. Usually all it needs is a cleaning. Still doesn't run good after cleaning, then it is ready for trash can. I'm not rich enough to throw away an oil or fuel fouled spark plug.
Sounds like my Evo
Devin Niemela LMAO
Gotta be that anti lag ha
bomm-bommm-bomm..WROOO
Devin Niemela lol
I always wondered if you guys were related . You two looked alike
I just got myself a 98 cr125 it was in rough shape when I got it. It was used and abused by the last owner, I just wanted to say a lot of your videos helped me get it looking and running great! Keep it up brother great content in all your videos
Im so happy i found your channel, thankyou for providing such awsome content, big love from Australia!
CR250 I can’t wait
1234 5678 me either
Best video I've found finally fixed my 2007 cr 125 absolute gem of a bike thank you.
I have an 07 yz 250 that still has the stock piston, rings, crank, and plug. Put 100 miles on it last weekend and still runs great.
From Australia and love your videos
Riley Dix sane bro his videos are the best by far
Zuro nuro you know I learn more from his videos than I do in school LOL
haha same bro
Just watched!!! Thank you for the advice! Mine ended up being the needle on notch too rich! Leaned it up one notch and was perfect!
Cam + service manual for your bike = money saved. Thanks again man.
..would have laughed it if it was the connection rod bearings... ;)
first thing to learn as an dirtbiker..always keep an aditional sparkplug ready!
well done!
love your vids..
greetings from germany
Really liked your 4-stroke (Yamaha) video on jetting.....I think that you left a bit out here. Might still be a little rich.....I will bow to your knowledge on jetting. On 4-stroke the idle mixture screw controls fuel....so going out richens/in leans.....on two-stroke it controls the air....going in richens/out leans. I know you know but some of your viewers might not. You are a super good teacher....others can really learn from you. How goes the health? Praying for you. Tom
Info was great! Everything you mentioned is easily overlooked. The only thing I do not recall you mentioning is the carb getting gummed up from sitting, considering the poor quality of pump fuel at times. Ethanol can do nasty things when left to sit for extended periods of time. Just another easy item to check before I would consider tearing into the engine itself.
Thanks for watching! I discussed cleaning the carburetor in there
Cameron Niemela my apologies don’t know how I missed that! I only heard the part about the reeds. Again, another great vid!
When a two stroke doesn’t rev out it is because something is causing it to be fat. So the plugged peacock and vet hose would not apply here. Crank seals would also make it lean. Being lean would make it high idle.
I love your videos Cameron always informative and easy to understand !! Thank you for sharing your knowledge your vids have saved me a ton of money in labor costs because i was able to do the work myself with the guidance of your informative videos👍
Doing a project bike and can't figure out why it's bogging I cleaned everything and checked everything and got to my airbox and I'm missing a screw and part of the boot is clearly coming off the box , hopefully that's it ! Thank you so much man your videos have helped and continued to help me work on bikes
Fuel stabilizers pretty awesome I know for a fact there was junk in the carburetor and it cleaned it all out like new. Check for loose valves and I do mean lose valves. The carburetor valve screws we're literally going to go inside the engine tighten everything down
Sounds beautiful
Keep up the videos I’m learning a lot from you so far
Ok, so I know nothing about dirt bike fixing or anything like that but I love your teardown videos and was wondering if you could make a disassembly and reassembly of the same bike so I could get a general idea on how to fix my 2 stroke. I know you probably won't see this so if anyone could link a video of a disassembly and reassembly of the whole bike I would really appreciate it. I couldnt find any. I might just really suck at finding things on it. Thank you.
About 10 years ago I bought a used 2001 cr125 and I junked it when I moved to the city. Today I cleaned the carb and now it revs super high on idle. I noticed lots of smoke and oil spitting out the exhaust. It was working when I junked it so maybe something broke after years in the weather.
I did the 32:1 mixture, new spark plug. I might order a new rebuild kit for the carb tonight.
I got a KE 100 with a similar problem.. changing / cleaning the spark plug sure does the trick..
ronaldo domacena what year? Mines a 81 KE100 and there known to eat spark plugs
Your videos are the most informative videos on UA-cam. I'm learning a lot about 2strokes, as I grew up riding 4 strokes. Keep up the good work brother!
Sometimes that insulator inside the plug will crack and it will look ok but will be sparking up inside the plug and not down at the electrode tip. I think it happens if the plug is screaming hot and then gets a dab of oil or fuel on it and the porcelain cant handle the thermal difference.
I love your videos.... keep up the good work. Sending some love from Croatia ❤❤
Beerus Sama Ima nas hrvata 💪💪💪💪😂😂
That spark plug was carbon fouled for sure, you don’t want it to be a dry black especially on that ceramic, if it is it’s fouled and needs replaced, running too rich or just needs replaced from time to time
4:19 cr 250 engine on the backround?
Thanks for the video and your time.
I had the same issue on my 250 4 stroke bike, it would run fine until around 7000 rpms then would just die, if i let off the throttle and rpms dropped again it would instantly run fine again. I thought initially that the float height might of been too low and it was starving for fuel... But I watched this video and changed my spark plug and the issue was instantly fixed lol. I'm glad I watched the video before I started bending my float bowl tab and re-jetting the carb so THANK ya! @Cameron Niemela
lol, could you imagine that bird inside the expansion chamber when you trying to start the bike again!
due to the way 2 strokes work, lets hope it was hanging around closer the the silencer than the engine, otherwise it could get sucked back into the cylinder. ouch
Almost time for some new plastics graphics and seat cover 🤘🏻 125s not going to look so pretty when the 250 is all finished😂! Keep it up bro love the priceless info you always share, thank you!!
ColinRogers Films bruh the plastics are mint👌
Mitchell MX I never said they weren’t, I was just saying next to the 250 all brand new it’s not going to look as pretty as it sits now. His bikes are fresh as fuck don’t get me wrong 🤘🏻💨
ColinRogers Films 🤙
before i started the video i bet its sparkplug
edit i was right
please get the 250 together can't wait
hydroman114 me either
i want my bike as clean as yours great vids learn somthing new from you every vid.
Thanks for watching dude!
I personally think you should run a 40:1 ratio for the gas mix👍🏻
Not recommend bro running less oil to fuel inside of the cyclinder could damage your crank the cyclinder itself and the piston just run 32:1 which is recommended for 2 strokes
@@mtbridingog9083 i think nowadays the recommended ratio is 1:40
@@elkku2934i run 50:1 for over 20 years
@@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987 doesnt matter. that is still not the recommended ratio
@elkku2934 doesn't matter the recommended ratio it matters what the owner/ride likes to run and feel comfortable with. You can say what you want but as long as their is oil in your gas the bike will be happy just running less means you might have to do your top end a little more often but my 87 yz250 is still rocking the factory jug and only had rings and pistons every 60 to 80 hours and to the best of my knowledge it's only on its second piston
Spark plug could fouled out due to the 32:1. Personally I try and run anywhere from 40:1 to 36:1 on my yz125. Yea probably the spark plug was old but it looked damp, not a shade above coco Brown. Yes spark plugs go bad and I'm not saying it didn't, just your a tad on the oil rich side
Awesome vids Cam! You’re an inspiration to us all👍🏻
P.s. I’m thinking maybe lean her out just a hair? 🙄
The heat range looks kinda cold on the spark plug you pulled (and yes it was fouled). Hope you went with a hotter replacement plug or at least start carrying spares with you.
when u take stuff apart u should vid on how u put it back together that would really help me know what to do and how to do it thx.
im putting a cr125 piston to my tzr 125. cant wait to ride it ^_^
Good to know ! 💪
thats so weird. i have never had a spark plug cause issues. cleaning them and checking/ adjusting the gap has occasionally been necessary on older bikes. but that was more about fouled plugs and bikes not starting at all, rather than running issues.
i did just put a new plug in my bike, i had replaced everything else during the rebuilt, so it would be stupid not to get a new plug. but i was reallly surprised to see a spark plug cause the issues it did in this video
Bro thank you so much you loverly saved me with this video
Great video. Sounding great.
Thanks for watching!
This helps put a big bore kit on my bike and then it started to just cut out and backfire
don run at 32:1 very few oils these days recomend 32:1 check you oil manufacture's mixing recomendation! motul 800 recomends 50:1 motocross and 60:1 trail for their oil! so always good to check!
Shed MX I use to run 32:1 in my cr125 but kept fowling plugs even while racing at sand tracks. I switched to 40:1 and been Perfect. I work at a KTM dealership and with KTMs, they recommend 50:1 in all moto two strokes.
I'm having a sort of similar issue with my 50cc moped. When I have driving for a while in a steady rpm, and I wan't to downshift with rev matching before a corner, the bike only revs for like half a second while I have the throttle wide open. When I keep the throttle open, it stutters and eventually shoots right to redline.
LOL birds nest is my go-to
My WR200 won’t rev out. I’m going with all the above on the list of problems that was mentioned. It does good enough for me around the property tho.
Liked the video before watching it, it was worth it!
Send me an exhaust system 😂 I love your vids
Thanks to know my bike was doing this but I kinda knew it was the spark plug but not for sure then I remember your video and now I know!
Thanks for watching!
I didn’t hear it mentioned early on but I thought of the plug before anything just because it’s happened to me and 2 strokes foul so quickly.
Love your video I got my first 2 stroke bike and I got it cheep put new top end on it and it will run good but when I go to buy it in gear it Boggs but the carb is clean and everything it sound good in neutral but in gear it bogs and goes and bogs and goes
Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for watching!
Hey cheers for the video! What are the main symptoms of a leaking crank seal?
Your bike looks great!!
Thanks Logan!
dang thats a clean bike
Luckily it wasn’t the top end😅 Great video!👍
gorgeous beast...
Another great and informative video!
Thx man was having the same issue and thx for t I P s
I thought my CDI box was dead when I throttled it it didn't seem to have a limit to the RPMs. hold the throttle wide open you should hear the RPMs drop due to the CDI you are good to go i was scard it kind of skachy right now
Dude thanks a million times thanks
Very usefull video!
Thanks for watching!
Juhis
I have a similar case with my Kawasaki HD3 125
It isn't rich or lean
It definitely isn't running with too much oil being mixed because it has sufficient smoke coming out the exhaust
Turns out the spark plug is just fouled up... cleaning it did the job
But I replaced it with a new one after a week or so
Excellent video once again : )
Is it possible to have much success at all by cleaning the head of the plug with a small gas torch or have you found that to be pretty much a waste of time ?
Thanks
Yes you can absolutely clean and sharpen the edges on the top of the electrode. Make sure not to round anything off and give it nice clean edges to be able to jump the gap from and always check your gap and you'll be okay. I have taken ancient spark plugs fouled to hell and back then cleaned them up and put them right back in my bike.
Great tips!
I may be getting a 2 stoke i like the convenace of the gas and oil mixing. How do you brack in a 2 strock. I get to play Mad Scientist
"Oh it doesnt look too fouled out or anything" yeah it's not fouled it's just blacker than a burnt marshmellow
👍that was pretty simple😂
Super helpful video
I just picked up an rm 250 as a project bike, the main jet is a 175 and I think that’s the reason it’s not revving out, I’d feel better with a second opinion though
wish my luck was like that , for me its always the last thing I check and the least likely thing that's usually the problem
Love that sound..👍👍👍...
what mix ratio do u use for your CR?????it looks super clean and no spooge at all.....Greetings from Greece!!!wish u health and fast recovery
Why a stock expansion chamber
m1ke2001 why not
very hideous
Totally agree. Also what's up again lmfao
m1ke2001 he needs a procurcuit!
I have an FMF tho lol
My bike is good ratio n stuff and when in neutral its revs out but when in prolly 1-4 gear it stutters😕
spark plug is normally the first thing i look at... They dont seam to last as long on 2 strokes...
Snitchy1989 Check out my comment, maybe it’ll help.
Snitchy1989 depends on how you mix the oil and gas together I have gotten 50 hours on a single plug before but running a bit lean on the top end because the 4 ounces to 1 gallon of fuel always fouls out my plugs so fast ....
Judging by the spark plug, your bike is running too rich on fuel. You can re-jet the carburetor with smaller jets, that should do the trick i guess.
I've had terrible luck with ngk plugs fouling in a 125 no matter how it was rode, tried a champion equivalent and haven't had an issue sense
You should do a atv build like a 300ex or 250r
Good stuff man. It’s good to see you call out lots of the possible causes instead of giving too much attention to just one or two.
Thanks Jon!
thank you so much bro that helps me alot 😉
My 97 cr125 used to go through spark plugs all the time
Your running pretty rich there
i just jetted got new spark plug and running 40:1 my ktm 250 exc. It finally runs great but my exhaust blows too much smoke. i just restuffed the fmf exhaust and it was black full of oil. now it still has black oil running down the silencer.
I think reeds and mixture
My bike doesn't rev out but i don't think its a bird in there.
havend heard of that one either....but funny!
Kaneelen HD a small bird. Lol
@Whoop!
Yo i got the same problems every 5 ride hours with the BR9EG spark plugs. My dealer gave me a tip that i need to get a BR10EG en quess what. No problems any more and with that spark plug the bike is running better bottum and top it pulls amazing. It worked for my i dont know if it work for you guys. Cheers
i have had a short in the kill switch make the bike run just like your 125 in the begining of the clip
Sounds like your floats cracked in the carburetor
70k subscribers now, congratulations man! (💍) 👈 on that two.
I had the same problem for 2 years, i had my choke cable somehow stuck so it got really much fuel. Just fixed it 1 day before i sold the bike :/
feels bad
@@860Jacob yeah, i was able to ride it but was really plugged all the time so it wasn't a big fun to ride it. Still it beat all of my friends' bikes in acceleration and top speed so idk :D
My cr making a rattling notice coming from the power valves I'm not sure if it's crank bearings or something and I have new top end rebuild
