Ethiopia's long-distance track athlete Haile Gebrselassie won his first Olympic Gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Four years later, at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, he became the third man in history to successfully defend an Olympic 10,000 metres title. The Silver Medal winner, Paul Tegrat of Kenya, was a real gentleman. The winner just beat him out in the last split-second. Instead showing frustration, he immediately patted the winner on the shoulder, smilingly. IMO, that takes good sportsmanship.
As a Kenyan kid , Haille made me sad so many times lol.What a beast. Always ruining it for us lol. Tergat is a legend.

As an Aussie, this was my favourite performance by a NON-Australian of the Sydney Olympics. What a champion, what a legend. 🥇
The fact he had an Achilles tendon injury and still won shows the fitness and more importantly the mental strength he had
They deserve respect I sympathize with Paul Tergat because he was in the time of the legendary Haile Gebrselassie He deserves to get Olympic gold in his career
