Clearly there is something for Lynch symbolically in this kind of imagery that represents something replete with meaning in his films.
It's all a metaphor centered around the idea of haircut as psychological trauma. Lynch believes big hair is intimately coupled with personal growth, and haircauts represent to him a Delilah-esque mutilation of male sprituality
This is the 1 film by Lynch I just don't like to many scenes just made me nauseous. On the other hand I did enjoy Nicholas Cage. Blue Velvet and Lost highway I did enjoy 😉
