    One of the best things about SG1 is that as the sarcastic guy on a team with a pair of elite science types and a ultra wise alien, O'neill often seemed like the dumb one. But every once in a while, he'd break off a nugget and show how sharp he actually is and why he's in charge.

    • @HanithSVK
      @HanithSVK 2 роки тому +3

      Not really. Asgard and Ancients are far above them. LoL even Goa'uld learnt how to do "cloaking" and in the later seasons they managed to hide even motherships with it.
      The only feat that is actually unparaleled is their revival of Aphopis and even that could be done with Goa'uld technology(sarcophagus, which was derived from ancient healing device).
      Yes, they are certainly above most races, maybe even in TOP5, but certainly not the most advanced, nor the second.

    • @KS-xk2so
      @KS-xk2so 2 роки тому +8

      @@HanithSVK The Goa'uld scavenged literally ALL their tech, so they aren't even worth mentioning. "Advanced" is an odd term, as if we are talking pure technology, you'd be right. From an Evolution perspective, I'd argue the Nox are at the top with the Alterans. They literally can cloak, or heal, or dial the stargate, via their minds.

    • @HanithSVK
      @HanithSVK 2 роки тому +3

      @@KS-xk2so Can they though? I agree with Alterans(better said Ancients cause Ori were of the same origin, they split with Alterans cause of the religious views) but Nox? We have no idea if they abilities are natural or some form of tech advancement(artificial gene therapy or form of nanotechnology in their bodies or smt like that). But it is shame that they did not continue Nox storyline, cause all we can do now is guess. But let's just say you are right and they are the most advanced race currently in galaxy. Why they do not ascend? They are IDEAL race for it. They would be safe, their pacifism and non-interfence are EXACTLY the qualities ascended beings(like alterans) enforce. So why are they staying in the physical world?
      Even Asgard can open the gate without the "whoosh" as we saw doing Thor several times. Not to mention that we saw that Asgard has an ability to erase someone mind with just wave of their hands(as when they removed ancient knowledge from O'Neill's brain first time they encountered the that Repository).
      And technically, Tau'ri in the Stargate universe are also scavengers. Most of their tech is repurposed alien tech(asgard, Goa'uld or Ancient) so by this logic even Tau'ri should not be mentioned.
      Hell even Thor admitted, that some of the knowledge they posses were extracted from the Ancient Repository of Knowledge(and he also admitted that they are "studying it for as long as he remembers and they are still just scratchin the surface".
      Very few races achieved their technological level on their own(actually the only ones that come to my mind are Wraith, Tollans and Ancients(both Ori and Alterans)).
      (I am not counting SG:Universe cause i haven't watch it).
      But, in both Pegasus galaxy AND milky way, most space-travelling races were scavengers.

    • @KS-xk2so
      @KS-xk2so 2 роки тому +13

      @@HanithSVK I'd assume the Nox haven't ascended because they don't want to. For an Alteran, a race so devoted to science, becoming the ultimate form of Energy would be a noble goal. Given the look and behaviour of the Nox however, we see they are deeply connected to the physical world and the nature that surrounds them. Perhaps that is why they have no interest in Ascension?

    • @shadenox8164
      @shadenox8164 Рік тому +8

      @@HanithSVK You're talking about a people that can just vanish things they don't want to deal with, not just make invisible, literally remove. Nox's cloaking technology also as far as we're aware has never been penetrated in any way. Even amongst cloaking tech, theirs is clearly the best, hence why not even Anubis could find them.

      The ancients were even willing to let Anubis wipe out all life in the galaxy becasue they refused to get involved.
      The Asgard took it upon themselves to act but they nor any other species was under any obligation or had to... and they saw humans as nothing more than simple animals that needed protection, like one does for a stray dog.

      its more then that, its far more powerful then that. Its don't judge a way of life...your values, your ideals, your way of handling things, may be fine for you, but other cultures ways may work for them just as well. Sometimes you need to just stop and listen, learn bout another culture and why they do things... and not try to step in and protect or change them, when its not needed.

      @DriftZ TwoSeven judging books or in this case fruit by their covers. for 100's if not 1000+ years, tomatoes were thought to be poisonous. red, vine growing but on the ground, obviously they were toxic.

      @DriftZ TwoSeven
      And for about 200 years, they thought tomatoes were poisonous... because the pewter plates leached lead... they didnt understand it was the acid in tomatoes, so they blamed them... calling them poison ground apples.

    • @jenniferstewarts4851
      @jenniferstewarts4851 2 роки тому

      @DriftZ TwoSeven they judged a problem based on superficial information, and jumped to an incorrect conclusion. Comically the same concept happened in ww2.
      A situation called survivor bias. Planes would come back shot to pieces. they would examine the planes, see where the most damage was done, where the most common damage was done, and... up armor those area's. Except... the very fact that those planes made it back with damage to those areas meant they didn't NEED to be unarmored or protected. Where as the area's undamaged on the aircraft that made it back tended to be... engine area's cockpits from certain vectors.
      They saw a problem, they saw a loss of aircraft... and judged the books by the cover by what they saw... and not by the truth of the matter. A plane landed with half its tail shot off, its rudder missing, 1 gear destroyed... They looked at it with horror and thought... And that drove a bias in upgrades and improvements that actually hurt the aircraft.. making it heavier, slower... and leaving the systems that were being destroyed and causing the LOSS of aircraft... to continue to be unprotected.

    • @Thatslifebro_
      @Thatslifebro_ 2 роки тому

      The idea is cool. I suspect the first thing the Ashen would do is strike a deal with the Lucians. They would just hand over some of their tech to the Lucian Alliance and let them and the Tau'ri/Jaffa go at one another. And in exchange the Lucians would leave any conquered Aschen worlds alone.
      While they all fight no doubt countless worlds would end up in the crossfire and the Aschen could swoop in as their saviours. Heal the sick, defend them from staged Lucian attacks, rebuild their cities. Then they introduce their sterility vaccine as per usual to slowly conquer them. They could have dozends of Worlds subservient to them and only fight the Tau'ri/Jaffa once the Ashen have the upper hand. That could have been a great multi season arc.
