The standard single silencer on the Urban GS, Pure and Racer sounds much better than the twin version they're charging extra for on this edition. It's the reason I chose the UGS over the Scrambler. Giving it a handful at 3000 RPM never gets old. I can't believe they got it through Euro 4/5.
Your comments on the BMW gear change were spot on as they were with the R9T video, it’s very rewarding when you get it right, which is one of the things I really enjoy about my Racer 🇬🇧🏍
I think that's what gives it a proper retro feel. It still feels mechanical, like you have to learn to ride it properly and then you'll get the most out of it. Cracking bike but I think I'd go for the standard R nineT for the better suspension, brakes, and lower riding position.
Having had an 1150RT some years ago, the gear change technique is a little different with the dry clutch. Blipping the throttle on downshifts was pointless on that bike as it just didn't react fast enough. Holding a little bit of throttle in (as opposed to fully closing it) gave the best result. Engaging 1st occasionally needed a slight loading of the clutch too in order to allow gear sync. But it was all part of the character of the older pre LC boxer 😁😁
Thanx for view. I am on a r9 scrambler -16. Starting to think about a change. Never had a Triumph, been looking at the XE for a while. Would have been nice to hear you talk about pros and cons of the two bikes. Really nice roads you have 👍🏻
Everyone says they would never take the 1200 xe off road. But... Everything empire raced it in the baja rally and placed top 5 in the open class. For a big heavy bike that it pretty good.
Bob . I found this clip via Chris's channel What a joyful beautiful batch of roads ....Love both these bikes and really some great riding from both of you ...Glad to find your vlogging channel ... All the best ,Guy
It’s not necessarily beneficial to promote it - ideally people will get the videos suggested to them by the algorithm and if they like the content they’ll subscribe and watch future videos. If I give it a hard push on the other channel you’ll get a bunch of people who subscribe cos I persuaded them to but then maybe never click anything because they don’t actually care for the content. Then you’ve got the same problem again of the videos performing badly in the algorithm because it looks like nobody clicks them
I had no idea you had started a new channel. Just watched the latest video. I like the CL500 and may welll buy one. If BMWs weren't subject to such ridiculous tax in Thailand, I'd have an Urban G/S as my main bike. The basic one here is over 19,000 GBP, though. No way I'm paying that. I did over 90,000 miles on an early R1100GS. The dry clutch wears out early, they use oil, the longevity of some of the parts is disappointing, and the gearbox bearings went at 50,000 miles necessitating a new gearbox. But I'm glad I bought it. No gear position indicator, no fuel gauge, no rev counter on my SCR, either. You get used to it. I'd prefer to have a fuel gauge out of those three. I remember you meeting up with Farmer Torque on your other channel. Was this the same trip? I didn't know you'd left London. Probably a good decision. Lovely scenery, quiet road. I have subscribed.
I'd go for a Scrambler 1200xc, shorter suspension. You don't get much for your money on the Urban GS. There was a rev counter, fuel gauge and gear indicator on my 1980 Suzuki GSX750.
Ok so my take with regards to these two bikes ? well the BMW has a 125mm front wheel travel? and the ground clearance looks very low considering its seat height and their weight is pretty close fail me. so off road the 1200XE has less weight than a 1250GS, it also has suspension travel that betters the KTM 1290 , ground clearance that is suited to and also weighs less than both of those two bikes, unlike the GS it also has a 21" front wheel with brakes that rival many sports bikes, so why are we comparing the XE with the Urban GS anyway? Look I am sorry for my view but this is my opinion and for what the XE is it actually makes a better adventure bike than the GS and Super adventure because in my opinion the XE looks like a proper bike with a round headlight and is like a proper bikes made from round steel tube so it is un-inflated like the GS and at the same time does not look like an orange grasshopper , there I said it. And yeh ok it lacks the power of the other two but anything above 50HP on the dirt is extra, like tits? anything bigger than a handful is a waste.
I owned a 2017 BMW R90 T scrambler. It was an excellent machine however I would not write it off road and I would not attempt to treat Ito treat it as I would my triumph 1200 xe off road
Yep - I tried to capture some from the r nineT with another mic but the pipes were so quiet that all I really got was wind noise. Back to the drawing board... but rest assured I’m on it!
Hopefully I’ll get chance to ride a wider variety of bikes this year. Problem is the newest stuff pulls in the most views and that’s what pays the bills
maybe some day i can buy some motorbike lng yours my friend.for now i have sniper 135 2014 model.old but not bad. i allways wish to my self that someday i can get some motorbike like yours.yes i have to maney hard work to do to my channel .maybe someday my friend.for now i will keep swimming so that my dream comes true.keep safe allways my friend 🙂🙂🙂

That looks like a great ride on two great bikes. Nice sounds following the Triumph.
Yeah that custom exhaust setup really does the trick!
Where are off road main part?

Not jealous, not jealous, not jealous, lovely weather, fabulous scenery and great bike's, what is not to like :-)
It was a good days riding!
Didn’t know this channel existed motoboob, promote it more

Ha.... Farmer has a name! Looking forward to the new series of Tarmac Trails. 😎
He does indeed! Lovely chap too
Great ride along vid... excellent job on some really flowing commentary.
Cheers Stuart! 👍
That Triumph is moving at a pretty decent pace!
It looks like Chris knows that run by heart ..:)

Great video, both bikes are fantastic!
Great content... nice to see Farmer again. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Want an urban gs, but the lack of a fuel meter, is putting me off.
So I could end up with a Moto Guzzi V7 or BMW R1250R.
What do you think about the Sound? Compared to euro4 Model?
Not massively different to my ear - am I missing something?
@@MOTOBOBVLOGS i think the new Model with Euro 5 is a bit more quiet
Great ride. Superb scenery. KTM 890 Adventure go well in this company?
Yeah I think so. Especially off road!
Nice vlog I’ve watched Farmer T for a few years👍
All the ones thinking of a Triumph Scrambler, it heats up real bad.
BMW on the other end comparatively is cool as ice

well i wonder if changing suspension and tyres on this urban would make it into proper offroad machine
Nice vid as usual Motobob! So which one would you say is quicker off the line? Traffic light drag race, 0-60?
Almost certainly the BMW would be the quicker bike with more power and lower ride. If you can keep the revs up it’ll fly
@@MOTOBOBVLOGS cool! Thanks for the response mate, I need to book a test ride 😎
We need an rninet XE
Yes! That’d be awesome
That's a thing
Great comparison !! How tall are you ?
175cm

I think in the audio department you need add more engine/exhaust sound
Yep - I tried to capture some from the r nineT with another mic but the pipes were so quiet that all I really got was wind noise. Back to the drawing board... but rest assured I’m on it!
How about maybe reviewing some older bikes? Different kinds. Nakeds, sports bikes etc? Just a thought

@@MOTOBOBVLOGS fair enough. You gotta eat!
Sorry, did you say “quite punchy ,considering it’s a 1200 twin “
What the fuck else would a 1200 boxer motor be ??
