12:06 The guy missed a point. The reason Kratos gives a shit about the world getting destroyed was because the act would destroy Elysium too, killing the soul of his daughter. To allow his child to exist, he has to abandon her.
Yeah. I think the summary on the channel Suggestive Gaming, although also not perfect, is better and more complete than the one she watched, but she got to know the general plot points, which is enough, I guess... Maybe she'll even try the older games in the future and get to know their stories fist hand.
Gods are known for word play she said exactly what she needed to to not lie to kratos but also make him believe he can be freed from his burden. She said what she said fully knowing kratos would think she could free him from this pain. The gods are and always have been pieces of shit lol whether it be in this game or in actual mythology. They play these mind games all the time so the narrator isn’t wrong he’s summing up what she did.
She did trick him in the end. That's the point. Gods don't give a shit about mortals, even to their champion. Kratos gets screwed over constantly during the Greek era that's why he goes crazy and becomes a monster.
3:27 In many stories from myth and legends of all kinds, those that try to change their fate, end up bringing the very thing they were trying to avoid or worse.
There are few things that are missing but most important one is Kratos actually had to kill his own mother. When he found her, She tried to reveal his dad's name to Kratos, however Zeus cursed her. whenever she is going to let go of the secret, she will turn into a monster. So before she could tell Kratos about his father aka Zeus, she turned to a monster and attacked Kratos. Kratos had to kill her in order to save her from herself. Gaya helped Kratos in order to take revenge on Zeus. Cronus is the father of Zeus. There was similar prophecy, which stated he will be killed by one of his children. So Cronus would swallow his children alive after they were born. After Zeus was born his mother tricked Cronus thinking he swallowed Zeus, but sent him to Gaya who will nurture Zeus and help him grow. Once Zeus became adult, he released his brothers and sisters from Cronus and waged war against all Titans. He created Blade Of Olympus during the battle and put a end to the war. When Zeus struck Gaya and Kratos with lightning, Kratos asked help from Gaya. She refused saying Kratos is no longer needed and its Titan's job to kill Zeus. Then she let him fall off the her to the river styx. It also doesnt show you that when Kratos Killed Zeus and Athena asked for the power of Hope back, Kratos killed himself in order to release the power of hope to the people. He thought they will need it more than anyone.
The Norse games work perfectly well without playing the previous ones but to truly get them you really need to either play the original games or at least watch all the cutscenes. If not, the next best thing is a summary video like this.
The video you sourced was missing some minor interesting details, but serves well enough for a general overview of the GoW main lore! Throughout your playthrough of 2018, more will be referenced and explained though, so get excited. (Also, hearing you scream ARES IS A BITCH was probably the funniest reaction Ive seen in like a month to anything, so thanks for that lol)
BTW, Zeus puts a curse on Kratos' mother that turns her into a monster if she reveals Kratos' father's name to anyone. She tries to tell him on her deathbed but curse activates and she attacks Kratos. Kratos is forced to kill his own mother too because of the gods. The guy can't catch a break.
I would also recommend Suggestive Gaming's recap as some people already did, but not just for the more details. It will also explain things better. I feel like this recap makes you misunderstand some characters and plot points. For example, it made you assume Athena is this manipulative b-word, while in reality she was the one and only goddess that Kratos actually didn't want to kill.
@22:52 By the time of God of War all the Titans have been locked away in pit of Tartarus of the Underworld for 1000 years. They are kept there with the giant gautlet Kratos is wearing when he meets Persephone. This is why atlas Managed to escape. Because Persephone, Hades' wife, lives in the underworld.
@3:35 well, that's kind of the theme in the greek saga "What goes around comes around". speially in the GoW 3. For example: Kratos' grandfather, Cronos the Titan, ate his children alive and when he tried to do the same to Kratos he got murdered by Kratos. Ironic full circle moments.
The great thing about god of war 2018 is its like playing RDR1 and 2 you can play 2018 without playing previous and slowly learn who kratos is through the game. Or play the previous games and know him already and certain moments will have more weight
If you ever have the time an chancei would recommend these games too play as whilst they are much older they are all still very much worthwhile playing as well
Very cool that you reacted and that you seemed very invested in it, imo, it's important to have a full grasp of his backstory to understand his Norse arc. That being said, you unfortunately didn't picked the best resume of his greek past, some elements aren't well explained and a tad confusing, i'm ready to answer whatever interrogation you may have on some points.
Ares and Athena were both war gods in Greek mythology- but whereas Ares was essentially concerned with conquest and bloodlust, Athena was a goddess of knowledge and tactics. So even though they are siblings, they are rivals. I had forgotten how much a (justifiably) bad dude Kratos was the first couple games. :)
This is absolutely the worst explanation of the God of war series ever. You should watch history behind the Warrior UA-cam channel. He does a way better job in explaining everything and goes into more details than this crap of an explanation.
man watching this made me remember how much cooler god of war used to be. now kratos is a depressed sock, and the gameplay is..eh...we dont talk about that

Athena did not promise to TAKE way krato's nightmare, she promise to FORGIVE the things he has done while serving Ares.

Excellent. Now you are ready for the journey to the top of the mountain ✨
Soo, long story short, gods were playing naughty and let mortals clean the mess up. How nice of them!
Kratos: pain, suffering, anger
Athena: "Good boy..." 😁

Zeus got around lol

the beginning of kratos's story is the classic troupe of trying to stop a prophecy just sets said prophecy into motion.
4:57 when he is young kratos never know the one who kidnapped deimos is ares

In stories of trying to prevent prophecy, the act of trying to stop it is often what causes the prophecy to come true.
Yea the vid missed some interesting and better understanding details as other vids, still great reaction!!

audrey you should react to rdr2s 4 endings
told you that it is great😅
You should have reacted to Suggestive Gaming's video. This one is missing MANY details.
They should remaster the original God Of War trilogy for the PS5.
That would be awesome🔥
The thing is…Kratos was ALWAYS a god. They just manipulated him for their own agendas
God of War 2018 is technically god of war 4
8:26 *GENJUTSU MENTIONED! NARUTO GANG RISE UP!!*
react to suggestive gaming video of summary it is more detailed........ and you can see how kratos killed every god
This is absolutely the worst explanation of the God of war series ever. You should watch history behind the Warrior UA-cam channel. He does a way better job in explaining everything and goes into more details than this crap of an explanation.
You are like 20years late 😂
this particular recap actually skipped a lot of details tbh.
Axe is debut in gow 2018 it belongs to (spoilers)
Faye (second wife of kratos)
Watch suggestive gaming's video. Much better than this one
I’d rather just watch in game cutscenes these ppl talking over explaining lowkey ruin the moment don’t make it as serious
man watching this made me remember how much cooler god of war used to be. now kratos is a depressed sock, and the gameplay is..eh...we dont talk about that
Kratos was always depressed
