First my compliments to the fellow spraying the cabinet door. I can tell you're a skilled craftsman. Your set up, your technique, your technical knowledge, and your choice and reason for using that material are all a dead giveaway. I'm a retired painting contractor. After 35years in the trade, I have done a lot of cabinet work in that time. I was a high end painting contractor. I decided a long, long time ago that it was easier, more rewarding, and more profitable to be a quality knowledgeable painter. Much better than just a guy who thinks he knows everything and has to scramble to find work all the time. And then when he finds work, his customers, his employer, and even his vendors are disappointed. An old timer told me when I first started contracting, he said, "If you do good work, you will always have work". And was he ever right. Not once did I ever have to advertise to find work in all that time. When I got a call, if the prospect did not tell me how they heard about me, well they better have been pretty special. I always asked, how did you hear about me? That eliminated the people looking for the cheapest price for work. You can't please those people. If you work alone, or have 1 or 2 guys, or even crews, how you act, how you look, your skill level and your expectations, good or bad, will permeate from the top guy down. All the way down to the brand new helper you just stole from the fast food chain you drive thru every morning to get your coffee. Guys who know nothing about painting but want to, and are willing to learn, can some day be your best painter. And fellow commentators, don't think because you've been painting for 5years or 10 plus years, you know everything. You don't. The tools, the materials, the customers, and yes, your fellow painters are in a constant state of change nowadays. When I say guys, I mean gals also. Keep yourself clean, your tools clean, and your work area squared away. It will show up in your work and your customers and suppliers will notice. You can live off referrals from your customers and your suppliers. Those are the best jobs. Once again it's a pleasure to see a guy like this doing quality technical work. I even learned something from him today also. I had racking and stacking systems to put doors in very tight spots so they could dry clean on the jobsite. I had a helper constantly bringing another piece to spray, and taking the newly sprayed piece out to stack. Keep the spray gun working. But I never once thought of using a Lazy Susan. I could just kick myself for not ever thinking of that. I would walk around the piece and spray it as it was up on a saw horse. What a time saver and a back saver the Lazy Susan is. And I love the hook for the gun. Keep up the good work here on UA-cam. You're elevating the trade and the image of the business and the people in it.

I couldnt agree more with everything you mentioned. I work for someone who’s been painting since 78’ and he still can’t give me a straight answer on why he rolls cabinets instead of spraying or why does he cut in once and roll twice. Simple questions that make me question if theres a better way of doing things but instead it makes me assume it’s nothing but quick and sloppy work. I hate that so much and hope this guy never stops making videos cause I know for a fact that this is how things should be done. We would never struggle to find work if we took our time and did things accordingly. This guy has true paint workmanship. Solute!

That was a heck of a reply right there. I would agree with everything. You just said and I would also add that it doesn't matter if you're the best sprayman in the world. It comes down to the prep work beforehand the sanding the cleaning the cocking, This is my thirtieth You're in business and I am still picking up tips and tricks for mother painters. The day you stop learning is the day you mind as well quit your job. In my opinion it's all about pride in your work well. I'll quit going on, that was a really cool video. I like watching moose painting videos.

What is the benefit of the hardener ? I’ve sprayed cabinets without it and they’re fine .

Do you really know they're fine? After 1yr. 5yrs. 10yrs. 20yrs. How can you know they're fine. If you're doing cabinet work, use the very best material along with any additives that make that better. I mean how much money are you going to save on the average cabinet job by using a lesser material?

Over oak that’s pretty impressive! I hear the product is fairly expensive compared to a PX prime and Kem Aqua topcoat but hopefully you are justifying this with the price to refinish👌🏽

I’m industrial but as a kid I did a taste or two residential, more commercial back then. To go back would be less money, but the toys would be cool I guess or renovate your dream house or a rental property perhaps…do some work on the side..etx

Not sure where people find the customers who're willing to pay for quality work??? I see guys saying 600 for an entry door is a normal price...a minimum..for example.... Ive been a carpenter/contractor/remodeler for 35 years in San Diego and NEVER see prices paid or agreed to like what people claim on the internet.

As much as I like your videos and I think you're doing a great job. For 1 you should use a smaller tip. Also all you're saying is cool but just do the good work. It's not that serious lol.
