You inspired me to get into aquascaping I am 15 from nz and love every vid you make it makes my whole day!
Haha I'm from NZ too!
@@oliverraikes6069 wow very cool!
North shore Auckland 👋
I’m 16 from Australia. Just starting to aquascape.
North Canterbury here!
Thats a gorgeous looking bowl, if I ever see one on sale here I am definitely buying it, thanks for the inspiration.
Nice one Mark. You could do it with Caridina.
Homesense have them near me for £12.99. Bargain!
@@nathanherrington917 I am in Norway so I will have to look around 👍
@@MDFishTanks Possibly 🤓🖖
@@MarksShrimpTanks lets get a caradina version of this bowl!!
My favorite path in this hobby is to create tanks with less to zero maintenance and I'm glad to see such eco systems from you mate. Gorgeous one again! 👍
I have no aquarium and probably never will either, but I find your videos (especially the bowl ones) extremely interesting and even calming in a way. Great job! 🙏🏽😎
❤️❤️❤️love all the eco tanks. Thanks a trillion for all your tips, tricks and humor.
Morning mate, gonna send you a video via Instagram of my tank 😀 forgot to show you in the shop the other day 🤣🤦♀️
After a couple of years of watching your videos, I've finally decided to set up a little eco system tank like these. Couldn't have done it without everything I have learnt from you. I've got a sweet little 12" x 8" angle iron framed tank set up, it's decades old and looks it, but I'm really pleased with how it's turned out.
I'm wondering how small this could be scaled down to? I have a few old goldfish bowls sitting here empty, I think the oldest one is from the '30s. Would be fun to do something with them.
I’ve scaled MDs system down to 2L scientific beakers just fine, initially as a home for a neglected betta I decided to rescue from the pet store.
It’s now a snail tank and a general place I can grow smaller plants after I moved the beta to his 5 gallon mansion, but he was absolutely happy and interactive in 2L I just felt bad for him.
I mean the scraping and having plants could be any size. Having shrimp I wouldn’t go under 10 litres (2.5 gallons) personally
wow!!! hope u will do good with those bowls u hv :))
I have a bowl with one fry and two black shrimp - the fry is a platy that appeared after I had cleared down a tank so she is called 'Lucky' ❤️
How cute
WoW thats awesome mate😱
I love the fact that you talk about the ecosystem part of planted tanks instead of the high tek expensive stuff. New subscriber for sure
thank you for this video! i’m looking to build my first bowl tank soon and i’m so excited! thanks for showing me how it’s done and for typing out the plant names omg that helped so much this time around!
I love your videos! Giving me lots of inspiration for when I start my first eco fish bowl which will probably lead to having a room full of tanks down the track haha! Thanks for all your tips and can't wait for the next video (and my timmy the turtle jumper to arrive) :)
I absolutely love these bowl rebuilds! I'm going to rebuild mine today!🌿💚🌱
Each time I watch your channel I have another idea for a tank. Awesome as always. Gina Hetlage
The original bowl video got me back into the fish keeping hobby after a decade, keep doing great things love the channel
MD I want to thank you for showing me a hobby i had no idea if id be good at let alone have fun while doing it. Here i am doing both possibly even for profit soon.
Another cool one! My family will be moving soon and we are so inspired by your videos to try something similar. Thanks for the friendly, informative content!
happy for u bud
Very nice, mate. Cheers!
Chuck it in!! Gets me everytime😂
Your trick with the aquasoil in bags, I think, is going to be a tank-changer. Lol I have been searching for low to no-tech ways to set up for things like bowls and I know that lots of plants and lots of fast growing plants are key, but I can never seem to get enough plants in any of my tanks (they're so expensive!) to properly balance out and I'm always having to refresh my tanks completely. I love how you said you're a lazy fish keeper! I am too. Lol I'm also a lazy gardener, so I hate having to do a lot of maintenance on anything. I want things to take care of themselves. And during gravel vacuuming, my substrates are always mixing. I've been trying to figure out how to stop that, for one, while still allowing plant roots to reach the things they need. The bag seem like they solve that problem! Thank you so much. I can't wait to do this in not only my little tanks, but my big tank as well after my fiancé and I have moved. ❤️
Love when u scape the bowl!
Excited for this one. Had to go from ipad to tv.!
Love them!
I love to scroll through MDs thumbnails and see the same cutout of him in each one
Still obsessed w ur bowls 😍
love that bowl..... but Mats tank was awsome. Funny how we rarely see a tank with one plant. Thanks mate! Si
beautiful. That wood piece is godlike
I like the shrimp and snails in a bowl much better than a beta!!
The shrimp & snail bio-load is insane! Get a 50gal sump to deal along with those water changes! To be fair? I have learnt some gems here... Why I am supporting the channel!
I have been following this series because I would like to create one.. But dang! That grass really grown a lot 🤣
yay finally another ecosystem bowl
Great scape! Gotta love the bowl builds. I think the polysperma and especially tripartita are gonna give you some headaches later on with maintenance tho ;)
Nice bowl. Quite good!
Awesome bowl, looks stunning. Wondering how much does your fish room cost to run and maintain, obviously sponsors make that way easier. It would be really interesting to get an idea.
This was fun
Thank you so much for this video MD. I love all your videos but the tutorials are particularly helpful for those of us just starting out.
Love me some Matt
A bowl like this seems like it would be good for a college dorm tank
Love this bowl aquarium
I love your vids sooooooo muuuchhhhh!
Love this bowl! It might be my favourite one yet!
Lovin it!
My bowl has arrived this morning 30cm light arrived last week aqua bags just need soil substrates and plants
Hi MD! Please, consider doing a planted salt water tank, I think you could rock it, too!:)
I remember you had one at the beginning but lost interest. But it was not planted, so try one with algae…?
Just saw The King of DIY’s seahorse video, got me thinking you should try planted salt water tanks, too.
Those jade shrimp were sick never seen them before
Beautiful work if I can ever find a bowl like that I would love to have a go
The fish bowl was epic, but I noticed that you really control yourself not to over plant it huh, it's not you at all 😄. Anyways I just wanna say thank you, cuz just by watching you sir MD gives relaxation and fun vibe to me, and you're also the one that inspires me to create my own dream fish tank soon..💖 keep it up sir, unknowingly your making someone's day by your video 💖😌
Well done sir I'm so inspiring about your aquascaping 😊
Every time MD says “just chuck it in” do a shot
Beautiful.
You can smell a healthy planted aquarium but it doesn’t stink It smells like fresh cut grass💯
Awesome as always, MD. Keep up the great work.
Hey gey's, it's a very nice and simple tank. I love it. Please tell me, how often you change the water and how many...
Hi MD, love yours videos. How many gallons or litters this bowl has ? Thank you!
Want to know as well! Dimensions/gallons??
Is the orange fish in the bottom left corner at 6:00 a discus?
I previously have gotten into making aquariums and have gone threw almost $100 worth of plants in my tank because I added ram horn snails i tried different variety of plants esc. The would eat the big leaves and the stems of the finer leafed plants and I had to completely start over several times and monitor heavily to ensure no big snails I recently switched to mystery snails because of this and I was just wondering how you are able to have success with ram horn snails without them destroying your entire scape?? I would love some advice!!
Same. Added like 10 to my 54L and within 2 weeks there was a 1000 snails in there
An early upload? So excited for this!!
That one bogwood at the start looked like yodas hand. I hope you use it in something else! As always, great video.
this may sound like a dumb question but im new to the hobby and was wondering whats the difference between the aqua essential and quick start? love the vid as always :)
Probably a bit late now but the aqua essential is to treat the tap water and remove the chlorine in it which is dangerous to creatures with gills . Quick start has the beneficial bacteria needed to help break down waste which normally would take a week or two to form naturally.
definitely a great way for people who are new to the hobby to get started
really?
can u please do a video with an iwugami tank ( only rocks ) can u also put a carpet in? I think it will look 🔥
NICE AQUARIUM, i think you should make a turtle tank tho
17:09 my blue plakat looks shockingly similar just with a different color arrangement and a ton of blue. started as a fish that was nearly all white
That thumbnail makes the bowl look massive haha
Seeing this grown ass man whose arms are the size of both my legs struggle to lift this bowl, makes me think I deff want a smaller one for my room and first aquarium. Or I need to work out for like 3 years before I can get one this size. Baha jokes aside, awesome video and love the end result
Was it just me or did someone else see the discus? 😍
This is a great build but I think you you covered up the coolest part of the wood with the plants. I think the roots should have been left a little more exposed to watch the shrimp swim/crawl through
I live in a very hard water area. I can grow many plants really well but some, even pearl weed can be very slow. I wouldn't mind having a go at this 'eco system' idea and wonder if people have had success with it in hard water areas? I don't want to use RO or even mess with the water.
The completed bowl look so beautiful.
I really struggled to keep shrimp in hard alkaline water, but the ones that survive pretty much live In an ecosystem bowl, so I’m sure you can make it work.
Yeah!!!! More Shrinp
You don't have any problems with placing plants from emerged to submerged, the plant is damaged or what your method is, everything is very beautiful.
Looks amazing. If anyone knows where u can buy those big bowls could u please let me know. Just started a shrimp only tank myself and I love it
Amazon
They were sold out from his link in the description last week. Tap the link and try again today to see Amazon has restocked the bowls... Hope that helps
Stunning as always..challenge is to balance out the zoom in effect due to convexity of the glass when you scape a bowl
you heard about the ecoaphere? a small cristal ball, sealed, with some red shrimp, a piece of wood, small, and some filamemt green algee, and its never open, it comes like that, from the brand, i had 1 few years back,
basicaly its an ecosystem everything equilibrium to feed the shrimp etc. but had to keep it in light few hours and mantain 25c
Do one high tech tank
So amazing I'm actually going to try this. My question. You have shrimp and Ramshorn snails which breed a great deal, is this something you're not concerned with and should I, someone that is not trying to breed, steer away from? I like the shrimp and the snails because of how they keep the ecosystem in check but I don't want make more of them :-) Thanks you!
Very nice md did I see a discus in that tank behind you 🤔
Another amazing bowl scape! Thanks for sharing MD
Ngl not having the pebbles underneath the wood might’ve looked abit cooler! Just an opinion tho, still looks really nice!
Do kray fish soon please ,any colour kray
15:59 is that an orange discus back there?🤔
I saw a discus in the background
Upcoming video md?
My gawd you're all tank are amazing! Can I have one?
bowls!
I've just set up a 8 ltr mono tank
There's no substrate in it
I've put broken slate in and have wedged plants between the slates
Eventually I'm going to put 3 _ 4 elders onto it
Do I need to put a plant feed into the tank
Please advise
You gave me the idea
Thanks
I have 2 large spots that are cabinets under my 125 gallon I wanted to get 2 cube tanks to start trying my hand at tanks like this. But I can't seem to find tanks that are 20L x 15W x 17H. The hunt is still on so I can take the information you've shared in many videos and apply them myself
This might be a silly question, but I was wondering with wood and plants sticking out can shrimp and snails escape? I really love your aquascaping and I love the way it looks the stuff sticking out. I was just wondering if it's something I need to be mindful of if I want to do something like that?
my eco tank has been going strong for 3 months now no chicken dirt, no gravel, just white sand. quite small 17cm by 76cm tank, and about 18 shrimpies & 63 guppies. i added coontail and some cow grass.
Chicken dirt? Huh?
Only for you does twelve months equal 'long term'. ;)
Ah well, my favorite tank lasted seven months which is better than average Come to think of it I've been following the channel longer than any of the tanks have been running, counting the ones that I presume you still have at home.
The new version is lovely but the overgrown weed farm had charm - and I was rooting for the poor thing. Who knows? Maybe this version will survive eight months!
You do realize that the most dangerous thing to the long term success of your tanks is you, right? One moment of boredom and the whole thing gets taken apart!
And yes, I'm just giving you a hard time about it. I've learned not to get attached to any of your tanks. My last favorite is gone now.
See you next week!1
You should sell a portfolio book with nothing but photos of all your aquascapes!
Can you do a video where you test your water Parameter on all your different tanks
Love the project and will try soon. Was there snails in the first bowls. It seems that the shrimps were saved, but what about snails?
Great bowl! One quick question: do you think a small pump, just to move water a bit and spread nutrients, would be any beneficial in a small tank like that?
What about air pump, not required even for shrimps ?
Awesome bowl. How do you keep the bowl warm enough for the shrimps and plants?
Hey MD, i made my 3 feet tank learning from you, its ecosystem. Survived for 1 year and 2 days ago the tank broke. Its really sad seing it all gone just like that.
Gonna take a break from the hobby now. 😔
Don't give up. Bad things happen sometimes, but it's how we adjust and learn from it. If you found joy and relaxation from your ecosystem tank, don't allow a bad thing to take that from you. Wishing you well, take care.
@@philcarlino6942 aw good uplifting advice. And I second that notion to keep up your hobby if it makes you feel good
is that a DISCUS in tank on the left??!! 15:57
I am surprised to see that you never drip acclimate cherry shrimps before putting them into the new home. How do they survive such an abrupt change in water parameters?
looking great ! you are very passionate :) how many gallons is the bowl?
Yaaay, new one
