Clear and concise. Thanks my guy. I avoided this vid because of the length but turns out this is the best one. Way better than other videos that rambles on about VMs and what linux kernel gparted is running on.

I have an idea why, EVERYONE has a video on creating a live bootable Linux thumb drive, FROM WINDOWS!! What if we dumped and wiped out Windows and refuse to use it OR Wine? Nobody has a video on how to do it IN Linux ONLY!!!! Not one single person! I can do it from Windows in my sleep just from memory of all of the tutorials I have watched doing it FROM Windows. I didn't dislike your video, but how about YOU try looking for a video doing a live bootable FROM Linux? Believe me you'll become frustrated that EVERY SINGLE VIDEO is just like yours. You like teaching? Teach me to do it from Linux. I'm sure millions want the same thing.
After hitting three times enter my screen hangs on the last black screens, it doesn't load the gparted ui How do I fix that? Or do I need to wait longer?
Great tutorial, fully explained and well presented, thank you. ( Without needless and distracting musical accompaniment. ) I wonder, is it possible to move the Swap partition in order to make more space for the main partition. I have a Windows 10 and Linux Mint dual boot, I want to remove the Windows partition, but for some reason the Swap partition is sitting between the Windows partition and the Linux partition, if I delete the Windows partition can I drag the Swap to the far left? ... and then extend the Linux partition all the way along to the left. Thanks.
Great video. Thank you. I've a problem I facing. At 11:45 my sceen keep blinking at this point... What should I do? Edit: My FlashDrive was currapt. I've fix it. But I wanted to make the master as a slave and the slave as a master. Please can you guide me? Thank you
Hi Richard, Thanks for this tutorial! I was experimenting with my pendrive, unfortunately it ended up Unallocated and Read only, file system is RAW, I tried using diskpart but it didn't work for me, Can I solve this problem using gparted? Thanks.
Give it a shot. It has saved drives for me before. Another set of tools you can use is called Hirens here are some video's on that: ua-cam.com/play/PLnxXRLSlmSVOOLtnEiFf5fWhsUnFqCdjx.html
If all else fails there's several DOS low level format utilities on the old Hiren's images (15.2 and below) but be sure that the drive is the ONLY drive you have connected because it will wipe ALL the data on the drive clean as in erasing it all. Thank you so much again for commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
You're most welcome. I'm glad to know I could help you. Thank you for watching, commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
When I first tried this I used a different application other than yummy to run my gparted. When I put it in my newly built PC it get stuck at the 11:03 mark as someone else in the comments stated. The count down would just keep restarting and it would flash a small error at the bottom saying argument failed. Following your instruction I redid everything and used yummy but when installing it on my USB i get a few errors in the application screen at 8:50. It still says complete and everything is on there but I notice a few of my green text when I scroll up would say boot error. Is this normal or may this be a reason why I'm not able to run gparted correctly.
+Lemaar Shakir Not all hardware is compatible with all the features of this distribution so some of the modules may fail. As long as the tool boots and you can use it I would not worry about it. Thanks.
Hi Richard, can i delete the UDF partition file system in my USb using this tool? My USB showing two partitions, and the one is UDF file. I cant remove and format the UDF file system using any software in windows also in CMD. Thank you. Hope for your response.
I'm sure it can do that. I have wiped just about every type of partition on just about every type of storage system. Give it a shot. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
I was recommended to use this tool for my situation: I have a 120 gb drive, w/ about a 4 gb linux OS (Openmediavault), I want to make 2 partitions, 10 gb for the OS and the rest as a data partition. Would Gparted keep my OS drive safe while I use the Resize option? Of course I will make appropriate backups, but just better understanding how this would work on a drive where I'm tring to keep in tact.
+Steven P There are unfortunately no guarantees in resizing and partitioning drives. My best advice is to create an image of the drive you are going to work on ua-cam.com/video/41tTudaQb0I/v-deo.html after you create an image of the drive, restore the image on a spare drive confirm that the image worked by testing the spare drive in your machine once you know you have a good image then try your experiment on the spare drive. If it trashes your spare you still have the original and a backup image that can recreate it to test further. Thanks.
Help please!! I used YUMI to install gparted along with linux mint and kali. When i open the boot menu and select my usb (partition 2, it says so im pretty sure it’s the right one) the screen seems to just flash and return to the boot menu like it started loading the yumi boot loader (?) but failed. Hi Richard, that is a very interesting tutorial, I am new to Linux, I recently installed Linux mint 17.3 on a dual boot with Windows 10, my initial partition size for my Linux install was only 20 gig, I discovered Gparted and managed to shrink Windows 10 partition down to 150 Gig from Linux, which has freed up a lot of unallocated space for me to increase the Linux partition, unfortunately it is locked inside an extended partition and I can't figure out how to unlock it to enable me to, get the unallocate drive inside the extension and expand my Linux drive, is it possible ? Thanks.
+Richard Lloyd Hi, it's the extended partition containing the logical partition which is my Linux partition, I have 200gig of unallocated space and the menu is greyed out for "new" but it won't let me do anything with it, because it is one of my 4 primary partitions.......Thanks for replying.
Hi Richard, Just to get this straight in my mind, because you don't mention specifically,; can this entire procedure be done on a Windows (XP) system? I presumed you were running Linux.
Unfortunately no. But you can back up your data with Clonezilla here's my video on that: ua-cam.com/video/yOVlpe5lEbo/v-deo.html Then format it back to a basic format then restore the image back on to it. I would back it up and restore the data to ANOTHER drive if possible to see what you get from the restoration, if it's good then go for it on the original drive. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

So you have used both the 32bit version and the 64bit version? If so my only other suggestion is to mount the drive in a different computer and try it again. If you don't have that ability try using an external USB connector like this one for 3.5 inch drives at Amazon: amzn.to/2gelqWI or if you have a 2.5 inch laptop drive this one amzn.to/2giN1ry at Amazon. I can't guarantee that they will work but it is an option. Thanks.
Whats up with the 4 Partition Limit ? Dang. Some Linux Distro's - don't make a big deal out of this - and other are so spooky to work with. Some Distro's clobber windows partition - No Matter how careful I am. Others "play nice" and I can have a dual boot system Sometimes - It just feels like rolling dice.
Hell I have a micro sd card. I made 3 partitions on it for my android these are fat32, ext4 and one swap. Now I want my card back in original shape with one fat32 partition But I am unable to delete all these gparted is also not deleting these.
Try this tool to reformat it hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/ it worked for me on a USB stick that would not boot a linux OS. I low level formatted it and then reformatted it and it worked great. Understand that it will wipe all the data off your drive. Be triple certain you are wiping the correct drive before you commit to formatting it. Thanks.
Richard Lloyd thank you for helping. I have already tried it but it didn't work in my case. I tried low level formatting and other options available in it but remained unsuccessful. I can see files in card but can't delete format it. I partitioned it for android mobile through android app which made it's partition through linux file system. Could u send me steps and options which u tried for low level formatting or any other option for deleting partitions.
Richard Lloyd unfortunately not. All I wanted to do was wipe the pc properly before she sold it. I used dram or whatever it'scalled. After the process finished is where I found problems in booting the laptop up

Timothy Basaldua There is a mounting utility built in but I never used it as this distribution is meant to be used as a utility OS. The mounting of the drive should be done in the OS that you are going to use as a primary OS.

Yes you should be able to. Test it on a spare computer first. Thanks.

Cannot delete partition ...shows it is opened as read only
Thank you!
Could u send me steps and options which u tried for low level formatting or any other option for deleting partitions.
help. Gparted doesn't find any partitions on my gf's laptop
Then more than likely there are no partitions on the drive which is bad news. Does the drive function or boot? Thanks.
Richard Lloyd unfortunately not. All I wanted to do was wipe the pc properly before she sold it. I used dram or whatever it'scalled. After the process finished is where I found problems in booting the laptop up
Sorry to hear that. I hope you can recover it. Thanks.

Good
Thank you very much.
Dear Richard
Twenty minutes . . . but you never show us how to "mount" the device.
Timothy Basaldua There is a mounting utility built in but I never used it as this distribution is meant to be used as a utility OS. The mounting of the drive should be done in the OS that you are going to use as a primary OS.
This dude looks like he is in jail lol
mine had error each time D: when i try to boot i mean
Try the same stick in a different machine if you get the same error you
know there is a problem with the stick (format the stick and reinstall
or try a different stick) If it works on the other machine then there is
some incompatibility with the machine you are using (Try a different
stick in that machine) thanks.
Gparted site was down so I found another place to download if you're having the same problem. www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/gparted_live.html
