- Skoda is aiming to bring excitement back to sedans with the Slavia. Based on th Kushaq’s MQB A0-IN platform, the Slavia is made in India and meant to take on the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. The Slavia sits where the Octavia once sat 20 years ago and fired up our imaginations and got us excited about Skoda and sedans. The Slavia maybe replacing teh Rapid, but in terms of size and attitude it is a step up with features like cooled seats, connected car technology, sunroof, 8-speaker infotainments system. It packs safety tech like ESC and ISOFIX mounts as standard and offers six-airbags as an option too. The Slavia’s 1.0 petrol engine variants have the punch to take on the Honda City and the price is aiming it squarely in that direction too.

At this price of Slavia 1.0 skoda should provide atleast 200 nm torque...if you compare it with rapid 1.0 in terms of price than its very high ... rapid starts at 7.50 while Slavia is way expensive than that though they added some new features and new shape but engine should be more powerful than rapid 1.0 to define it's price

I think better ride and handling is also City has a better responsive steering.
I think Slavia scores on features and maybe looks which are subjective.
Nothing will come close to Japanese reliability though and ownership experience.
But for enthusiasts, theres only 1 choice in the Slavia 1.5L.
City is still the sensible choice but Slavia is getting the new toy attention.
@@jay2die4 100% true....this is what I think. Slavia (or any other car) just can't beat city 🤣 it's the best...less on features but wayy more on the car part!
Also, the 1.5L Slavia is very powerful and will be absolute best, but it's like a segment above power in a segment below car type thing! And fuel is so expensive, less people will afford it. But yeah, that car will be fun!
Not handling. It understeers and has a bit of bodyroll on curves, going by Faisal's and few other reviewers, would wait for upcoming detailed drive review. So probably doesn't handle well compared to say rapid. Of all the cars using 1.0 TSI like Kushaq, Taigun and Slavia I'd say Taigun is the closest to typical VW experience.

About the squeaks and rattles shown in the video, do you actually hear it while driving, like when you hit a pothole? or is it just that you were checking if any panels squeaks?
Unlike your normal reviews, I felt parts of the video were a bit hurried through and/or were dealt with less enthusiasm than always. Anyways, that aside, I think Skoda could have a winner on their hands with this one. I have always loved the Rapid more than the Vento and the same feeling continues now with Slavia and Virtus. I just hope the FE isnt bad. Cars that can plaster a smile on the face deserve to do well and to all that cant afford the 1.5, the 1.0 should be good.

Hola sir! About the squeaks and rattles.. well not when we were driving it - but as we have seen with Kushaqs - they did become more apparent over time. FE wasn’t shared at the time of the drive - but ARAI figured would be about 1-2kmpl more than the Kushaq.

@@SirKart bro. The suspension is too noisy and it is not as sorted as the rapid when I drove it. Is it softer than rapid or whats the issue according to you?. Did you notice it & the inner wheel lifts in a sharp turn. Aren't these problems to be considered?
I think after multiple experiments, ZigWheels have secured a good balance b/w fun and information. Great quality content! And about the car - a very well rounded product. I hope Skoda will see great success with it. We need such brands to live on.

I evaluated the smaller SUVs before casting my gaze on to sedans… namely Verna & City…. But then the Slavia was released!
Verna is a stunning car, but very little rear leg room. The City is a stunner too… but in the end I went for the Slavia. Love the space, looks and drive.
I’m very disappointed though with the quality of plastics throughout.

Can i know fluid tank capacity of skoda slavia which is not mentioned in the dimensions
The rear part honestly reminds me of the Audi A4 from some angles.
Just because I had to say it somewhere, saying it here... I know that localization brings the ownership costs down & makes it a better experience but sincerely instead of discontinuing Vento/Rapid & moving to the MQB-A0 platform VW/SKODA could have just:
- Replaced the headlights/taillights with the sleeker & stylish looking ones [what they have on Virtus/Slavia now]
- Added a larger/modern looking infotainment system
- Kept the Chrome to bare minimum & stylized the interiors with rich upholstery
- They had winners in Vento/Rapid with little changes & both were absolutely solid cars
- What we have now are expensive cars with some questions around build quality/cost cutting which is a shame
- Some non-essentials like Chrome, Sunroof, engine start/stop buttons, large Air Dams, at times very weird looking dashboards [Virtus one looks like how one would visualize something futuristic in the 90s]
- Hoping to see that some of the issues mentioned here are fixed by the makers & we get the same quality that we have always been used to from VW Group cars
Everything is right about what you said except the fact that sunroof & start stop is un essential. Come on, even a large touch screen is completely non essential. But the start stop & sun roof adds to the rich experience & convenience.

this sedan can kick out so called fake suv as it got 179mm ground clearence....great move by VW&Skoda
As ground clearance increases, center of gravity goes hiigher. That is the main reason sedans are more sporty than SUV. But in this case there is no advatage as the groud clearance is very high for this car almost as high as SUV. This is just SUV in sedan design. But for Indian roads this is good ground clearance.

Does it has Diesel engine variant
2 real-world problems would be the 45 litre fuel tank, which is 10 litre smaller than rapid & the suspension is good but very noisy. Makes too many thud sounds, which takes off the premium experience where the rapid is far quieter.

Unfortunately for VW grup, the petrol prices will never justify big petrol cars, add the VW service charge to this mix...
it's all gonna change as the end of big diesel engines are near due to regulations. Plus the diff bw petrol and diesel prices are so close these days.Add the maintenance cost of diesel engines to this.

Skoda must learn the marketing strategy from Kia (Carens)and Mahindra (XUV 7OO). They priced the base VARIENT so cheaply that no one can compete with them. Also no advertisement is needed. Skoda made the same mistake with kushaq. Skoda have to price base VARIENT under 10 lack.
City V CVT undercuts base variant Slavia automatic by almost 1.5L. City V CVT is absolutely a stunner in value for money aspect - 4 airbags, ESP, traction control, hill hold and the beautiful 1.5 ivtec engine mated to a reliable cvt gearbox..

Difference between slavia and virtus
Great review… but the product is not upto Czech/German standards or simply put to the likes of Vento/Rapid. Improper carpeting less damping and insulation in boot and bonut. certain mini features minus from Vento/Rapid is disappointing for the the price that has been announced. As a returning customers i have my own doubts if I should consider … The Indian versions sees many shortcoming over quality checks and materials used. Just sad from Skoda India.

1. Simple drag race (also in gear acceleration, with full load or no load)
2. Give the exterior looks more importance as the interiors dull down with age but not the exterior
3. Section for company accessories included and what's optional with price
4. Have a pre-defined set of coarse(rough, road, rainy etc.) for each car so it can rated in a similar pattern and gives the audience a sense of comparison
5. Talk about the tyre and life/durability as well
6. Talk about how a car will be used as a daily companion, try showing parking the car, stuffing in luggage etc.
7. Analyzing car brands in the review also helps the user make a decision
