      It blows my mind that so many people are so hateful of him when he is in fact doing something positive in a sector that is so corrupt and powerful , just because he isn’t a Elon/Trump goon …. His advocacy for fairness and transparency in such a brutally restrictive and self serving corporate interest sector should be celebrated and appreciated not torn down and bad mouthed because he has a different political leaning than you . Yet another reason why I despise two party politics . Its near impossible for anything good to be fought for when the total aims are for destruction of the other side

    Wow! Really liked this interview! I think Lex is the best in the business right now! He seems to have a way to touch on important points without having to force them on the person being interviewd. It is more like a conversation and, weather you agree or not, it is done in a direct way, cutting to the chase in many topics, but still maintaining comfort tone both to the interviwee (is that a word?) as to the viewers. Well done!

      I guess I just don’t understand the concern about it in the business world. EEO prevents companies from discriminating based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. The 2 companies I’ve worked for in the last decade have both had DEI departments, and they host some trainings and optional seminars but I’ve never heard of them influencing hiring decisions or trying to shame or guilt anyone. Just tried to promote general awareness and understanding of people’s differences. An example would be, oh if you are going to take your team to lunch, check in to see if anyone has dietary restrictions before you choose the restaurant, either for religious or other reasons. So yeah I feel like people that haven’t had direct experience with DEI in a company think it’s a much bigger deal than it is.

    • @patrickozga3486
      @patrickozga3486 2 місяці тому +50

      @@kylewilliams6769 The D in DEI stands for diversity, which is a dog whistle for less white people, simple as. SCOTUS ruled that race based quotas in universities are in fact discriminatory. Fallowing that logic, the same goes for all other sectors of the economy. If you mandate that your company must fill a specific percentage of their ranks by a certain groups, that intrinsically means that you will discriminate against others based on their immutable characteristics because you are hiring based on category and not merit or credentials. But I guess there needs to be a lawsuit from each sector that travels up the court system to address this madness. Its hard to believe this has to be explained.

      If you're a white 7 footer whose reasonably athletic, with solid fundamentals and a good jump shot, he'd gladly give you a shot. That's all Dei is, they're giving qualified people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to apply. And funny enough, what the NBA is doing in Europe by recruiting often white Euroleague players is, in a sense, very similar to most to Dei initiatives. The people they're hiring are qualified, they're just not white which is what rubs people the wrong way. White people feel like their going to get hired out of the economy which is silly. DEI dosent mean don't hire white people, it just means recruit a little more ethnically diverse qualified people. That's it. Anything else is mindless Neo Goebbels talking points.

    Mark Cuban’s wealth is hindering his ability to see reality. His perspective on DEI is both incorrect and insincere. Like many advocates for DEI, he simply breaks down the terms-diversity, equity, and inclusion-portraying them as inherently beneficial. While on a superficial level, most people might agree with these ideals, many do not fully understand their implementation or recognize the potentially corrosive impact they can have on society.

    I estimate Mark Cuban's tax bracket standing to be around the highest (e.g. .37 or 37%) Ironically, given his statement of intent to pay exactly $288M to the IRS, the result in USD for his reference has a sort of symmetrical object considered improbable: Notice the final 9 digits of this formulation: $778,378,378.378
    I also reference this sort of "simultaneity:" 375 left for the author or question to determine and decide.

    I bet Cuban doesn’t do DEI in the Mavericks, he wants the best person for the job. In addition, he’s missing the point of X -- he is able to share his point of view on DEI in X….. yet the previous Twitter didn’t allow free speech.

    • @shang0h
      @shang0h 2 місяці тому

      Sure twitter did allow free speech. People just hadn't evolved their new grifter definition of free speech that includes protected fraud, the right to get paid for speech, the right to not have people dislike what you say, etc. and come up with nonexistent rules like "putting their thumb on the scale" to twist their brains into believing it's illegal for anyone associated with the government to provide information.
      5 years ago these people would have laughed at hearing the kind of things they tell each other now, but if you keep cracking them a little and shifting the mold, you can move people pretty far, so they don't ask themselves simple questions like "how come everybody all knows everything these allegedly censored people have said?" that will obliterate their new world view.

    • @nono99136
      @nono99136 2 дні тому

      Mark effectively defined DEI as - "ignore race and gender and find the best candidate". I'm all for this.
      The fear around DEI is someone will say "our company must be 50% non-white or 50% female (or male)", which obviously is a quota, which Mark claims is illegal.
      How can we have a rationale discussion if we don't agree on what the terms mean?

  • @jirikadlec7796

    Why does DEI exist? Its purpose should be to disregarding mentioning any gender or ethnicity. Not promoting engagement of minorities when there is lack of them -> which is what DEI really is in practice. Big tech companies are doing their best to keep up which leads to having very disproportionate pool of experts in field vs actually hired individuals, leading to discrimination against people with non-minority characteristics. Why do you get up to 10x signing bonus as a black woman vs white man in big tech? This is clearly one of the discriminating policies, yet it was made to prevent discrimination by DEI. And its very common (I would even say most companies have this in practice). Ignoring these very apparent issues is damaging goals of this whole ideology and you're helping that, mr. Cuban.

    The difference between getting fired for criticizing DEI and criticizing a product at a company is one carries the implication of getting taken to the cleaners in a civil rights lawsuit.

      @ludwigvonsowell5347 2 місяці тому

      @@Heeroyui752 there’s cases around this, IBM, Walmart, and others from the early 2000’s. Where they’d sue for wrongful termination or pay discrimination. And these companies despite winning the cases or even getting them dismissed spent more time in legal fees than the settlements would have been.
      IBM spent nearly a decade in court fighting one such case and spent mountains more in legal fees than it would’ve cost to settle.
      This works because the plaintiffs lawyers are paid on contingency a chunk of the settlement vs the defending company has to pay by the hour.
