The song was written with innuendos in mind, to get people thinking they're talking about "that kind" of beaver. But then it subverts it and goes off into word salad nonsense. It's pretty genius actually, because you think the song is about something and it's not. Also "Primus sucks" is a meme...started by Les Claypool himself. He would start shows with "We're Primus, and we suck!" The fans just kind of rolled with it.

The look of the costumes Primus are wearing was based off of a battery commercial from the 90's.
The degree of talent this band has is just amazing--I listen on the best stuff I can get, and on a pair of Sennheiser Momentums you can hear so much going on in this song.
Not to mention the incredible talent of the people who made those amazing costumes.

“Primus sucks” was a lot of people’s first reaction to the band when they began back in the early 90s. They and their fans co-opted the phrase as a term of endearment.
I thought I was a huge Primus fan from back when all the way over here in GA. Then I met my love that lived in Cali when Primus was still getting started. I get jealous of the stories about seeing shows at Petaluma Theatre, backstage visits, and even a birthday house party where the band played, hung out, and enjoyed the various party amenities that one enjoys at a house party.

Tim Alexander was probably one of my biggest influences as a drummer at the time. For another fun Primus video, "Southbound Pachyderm" is one of my favorites or "My Name is Mud". "Mr. Krinkle" might be a little weird for you. Lol
I always tell people that every single member of Primus is a top tier musician...it's just when you have a bass player like Les, it's just not something you see very often outside of funk and jazz, so he really gets a lot more shine.

The OPENING band was Rage Against The Machine! Then Fishbone! Tool was on the second stage! (So was Front 242.) Then Babes In Toyland. Probably a couple others I, unfortunately, can’t recall. Then Alice In Chains! And to close out the day was Primus! (Again, a banner show. 😎)
I'm not sure this was a good starter song for Primus, it really doesn't show off the musicianship which is their main asset, stuff like "Tommy The Cat", "My Name Is Mud", and even "Lacquer Head" while being equally strange as this track do a better job of showing their full appeal

Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys was a Bay Area band, the lead singer was shot while walking his dog in a park. The vid about the making of this vid is most instructive! The iconic parallel walk and instrument playing sections were shot at 3/4 speed at 18 fps then played back at 24 fps. The walk gets me every time.

I love this Primus video, because the character's they are dressed as in the video I'm pretty sure are based off of characters from old Duracell commercials in the 90s... I believe they were called the Putterman's.. look up 90s duracell commercial and you should find them... they were like a plastic doll family with a battery in their back... they looked plastic and creepy like the plastic cowboy characters they are dressed like in the video

"Primus Sucks" is just something the fan base (I'm one) came up with. It's a running joke. They're amazing musicians (whether it's brain, Alexander, or Lane on drums), and put on an amazing show...and still touring! The backbone of the band is the bassist Les Claypool, who is also the lead vocalist. Lalonde plays the guitar, and I think that's Alexander on the drums.
