VW T4 - Engine Undertray Replacement

- Today we replace the engine undertray on one of our T4's, using a lighter plastic variant instead of the heavier metal one originally found on the vehicle. This will hopefully make the engine noises a little quieter and run a little smoother overall, whilst still protecting under the engine from water & dirt, and any other debris that may be on the roads.

Nice one! Been thinking about fitting one of these for a while, I've had the metal undertray on and off dozens of times over the past 16 years since buying my T4, seems to get heavier each time I do it haha.
Deffo weight saver as well, the metal trays are heavy 👍🏻

Is the plastic undertray realy less noisy? and why? Think i might have to try that as a 1993 is quite loud haha. Just dont understand why it reductes the noise. Less klonky than metal?

Stops a lot of road noise coming up through the engine bay, and it’s lot lighter than the old metal one. Plus it will protect lot of detritus coming off roads into the engine 👍
Wonder if this will hide the oil leak from the mot tester?
Puzzled. Why replace the metal one? Mine is 19 years old and in perfect nick, even the sound deadening quilt. decided to paint it this Winter for the next 19 years.......
My metal one was very heavy and starting to corrode, the deadening quilt had long since disintegrated. Hadn’t had any cover in for long time 👏
