And I immediately ordered the GAP iiD tool from you! Yeah, I'm sure some cheapskate will say I should have shopped around, but I'm a firm believer in "shopping local" and rewarding great service with my business. THANKS a ton for a great video and insights. I look forward to doing more with my newly arrived tool.
I did shop around and actually his price is pretty good. Found it cheaper in the UK but add VAT and shipping and Lucky8 is less. Ebay was not cheaper but didn't go crazy looking.
I want to thank you for this video. I bought my GAP tool from you last week, for my new V8 90. I got it all set up last night. Was not able to find where to turn off the start stop feature and came back in the house frustrated till I found your video here. Without this video I am not sure I would have ever found where to permanently turn off that start stop function. I hate that start stop crap, it is not a golf cart, its car/truck. LOL That was my top reason for buying the GAP tool. lol Your how too video here worked perfectly, I have mine now permanently shut off. Thanks again!
With the 2017 L405 at least, this setting works, however you don't need to set start/stop off beforehand. Once the change is applied the start/stop setting is simply retained through drives until changed manually.
I just got a new Defender on air suspension and the ride seems very firm even with comfort selected on the dash display. Anything in the Gap tool to make it go softer?
You can use the favorite button on the steering wheel. This will disable the auto start/stop sequence. Go to "all" on screen, then "short press", then "other", then "auto stop"... click on then home. This way it's less intrusive reaching for the button on center dash. Just press favorite button on wheel. At minimum your eyes are still on the road. Hopefully this was helpful.🚙
But you have to press it every time you drive your car. So ridiculous. Only car I've driven that doesn't remember the "off" mode for auto stop. It shouldn't even be there in the first place.
@Lucky8, I just received the GAP tool today for my 2023 Range Rover. After doing these steps, I get “Stop safely and switch off Suspension fault detected” when starting. The auto stop/start function is still enabled. Any suggestions? Really appreciate it.
Does this permanently illuminate the bright yellow auto start off icon in the instrument cluster? Is there a way to disable this light post the routine you described?
Watch all your posts, can you help me to activate dynamic mode on my 2021 d300 defender please. I have Gap iid g3 tool. Followed your tutorial on stop start, worked a treat, now it's play time. Hope you can help. Thanks.
Eager to do this for my 2022 Trek Defender P300 but was unable to get this to work despite latest GAP IID tool software - along the way, I got a quick flash of "Auto Off Fault Detected" on the dash screen, and nothing changed when finished. Let me know if others have similar issues.
Now, when you drive the vehicle press the button and the light should stay on. When you start the car again, you'll notice the light is still on and the Stop Start has been deactivated.
@Lucky8 as an L664 owner, I'm planning to buy the GAP IID tool from you sooner rather than later. If you're looking into features that can be enabled, I have an X-Dynamic SE. Despite the name, there is no Dynamic mode enabled. I've seen some grumblings on the forum that that may be possible to enable. If you're looking for content/ideas on what to look into to post content on, I'd love to see if you're able to successfully enable Dynamic mode. Such a change along with this stop start function would be all I'd need to personally justify the cost. I know many on the Forums and FB groups would agree! :)
I have the version 2 GAP tool. I have been waiting to buy a V3 because the site says L663 support coming soon. Are you using a new V3 or a V2 that you already had?
Tool didn't work as described here for my 2022 Defender. Don't waste your money as this is non-returnable. GAP also says it doesn't work for some Defenders. Gamble at your own risk.

I've never looked for that. But it would be a cool feature to have, let me know if you find it

You could adjust the factory suspension settings to have it set a little bit lower that would allow it to ride softer

@@Lucky8 This is not the case with me. Does not stay on when car restarts. Not sure why..

We're going to continue to do videos as the new features are revealed.
What else can this tool do? Can it enable some of the disabled features? Like dynamic mode and tow assist and ch age the start up screen to 007?
Yes, to all of those things except toe assist I'm not sure of that one
What is the front seat cover that you have?
It is a prototype from Exmoore
Where do I get the Gap tool?

Will this work for 2023 full size Range Rover
I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that one. I would assume it's the same but without playing with it I can't confirm
I have a 2023 full size Range Rover. When I did it, nothing changed. Except my keys fobs stopped working and I have yet to figure out how to fix it.
can this be done on a 2020 discovery?
I believe so
I have the version 2 GAP tool. I have been waiting to buy a V3 because the site says L663 support coming soon. Are you using a new V3 or a V2 that you already had?
We are currently running version three

Does this work an a L551( 2019 Evoque) ?
I was able to do this in a 2020.
Does this work for a 2017 l560 velar?
Yes, it will
If you happen to have a Velar SV it will also work, but you should immediately send that car to me
